Further investigation revealed that the Urban Connect bus was operating without a valid route permit, and the driver did not have a valid retest certificate.
Renowned lawyer and former Mt Pleasant MP, Advocate Fadzayi Mahere, sharply criticized the government for neglecting the health sector. She said:

Surely, you must all resign. This level of incompetence borders on the criminal. It’s a mess. We need new leaders.

Meanwhile, the Police urge drivers to be responsible on the roads, promote road safety and avoid overtaking in situations which are clearly not safe to do so.

Two people were killed and several others injured in a tragic accident involving three buses along the Masvingo-Beitbridge Road on Sunday morning.
According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), a Rimbi Bus collided with a stationary Tombs Motorways bus, which had been parked on the roadside after hitting a donkey.
At the time of the collision, passengers from the Tombs Motorways bus were being transferred to a nearby Mbokoto bus to continue their journey.
Both the Tombs Motorways bus and the Mbokoto bus were parked on the side of the road. They were reportedly travelling towards Beitbridge when the Rimbi Bus struck them. Reads the statement from the ZRP:

Four passengers who were in the Toyota Quest car died on the spot, while five people were injured. 
In another case, two people died in a road traffic accident where a motorist driving a Renault Chendero vehicle collided with a bus after trying to overtake the bus while there was an oncoming vehicle at the 60 km peg along Masvingo- Beitbridge Road on 17/12/22 at 0700 hours. 
Similarly, on 16/12/22 at 1920 hours, two people died when a motorist driving a Freightliner truck lost control of the vehicle and encroached onto the oncoming lane where the truck crashed four vehicles, a Toyota Raum, Toyota Vitz, Nissan Caravan, and a Toyota Landcruiser Prado. The accident occurred along Harare- Mutare Road, near NOIC Mabvuku.
