Gospel musician Mathias Mhere has defended the inclusion of hip hop artiste, Voltz JT, whose real name is Nkosilathi Sibiya, on his album launch next month.
According to <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/were-all-sinners-mhere-defends-voltz-jts-inclusion/">H-Metro</a>, Mhere’s highly anticipated album is set to be launched on September 6. While the event will feature renowned gospel artists like Fungisayi, Jonah Chivasa, and Dorcas Moyo, the inclusion of Mbeu and Voltz JT, a hip-hop artist, has drawn criticism from some members of the public.
Responding to the backlash on social media, Mhere defended his decision, saying that he neither judges nor selects other artists. Said Mhere:

Yes Voltz JT is not a gospel artiste; he is a hip hop artiste but the music industry is one. We are a family and it’s good that we unite with everyone in the industry and show love.
We do not select nor judge other artists. We are ready to work with anyone available for a project. That’s what shapes our industry.
The people performing at the album launch are artists I have a relationship with and are also available on the day and it is also influenced by the budget available. Some come through just to support and that’s what shapes the line up.

Mhere revealed that he has collaborated with three different producers for his upcoming 11th gospel album, and plans to embark on a nationwide tour to promote the project after its launch. He said:

The album will have 10 tracks. Some are ready while others are being finalised in studios. I am working with Golden Fingers, Lyton Ngolomi and KB Studios, there are three producers on the project.
We have already started working on videos, the plan is to have 5 videos by launch.
The plan is to have a big presence on digital platforms and also flash drives, there will be a few CDs on sale because there are still a few people who still listen to CD music but flash drives will be plenty at the launch. 
We are getting something meaningful from digital, online platforms like Amazon, YouTube, and iTunes while we are also earning some revenues from live shows.
At the end of the month, you will have something worth staying in the industry.

Mhere said he has been fortunate to retain most of his band members for extended periods and also revealed that his upcoming 11th gospel album features collaborations with three different artists. He said:

I do not have a favourite song as yet but there are three tracks which are collaborations with Jah Prayzah, Mbeu and what I would call Mathias Mhere and Friends.
The collabo with Jah Prayzah is titled Ndini Here, which is about a person who has been lifted from a troubled past.
The song with Mbeu is about child abuse while the one with friends is done the way Reverend Chivariro did Ebenezer.
On the track I feature the likes of Bethen Pasinawako, Dorcas Moyo, Baba Mechanic Manyeruke, Jonah Chivasa, Sebastian Magacha and Prince Chigwida. Everyone comes in with verses.

Mathias Mhere Stands By Decision To Invite Secular Rapper Voltz JT To Album Launch

Gospel musician Mathias Mhere launched his 10th album at a sold-out event in Harare on Wednesday night. The album, titled “Thanksgiving”, has 13-tracks.
The launch was attended by social media socialites that included Mai TT, Comic Pastor and Madam Boss.
Legendary gospel singer, Mechanic Manyeruke, also graced the occasion and played the fan’s favourite “Moses”.
Mhere performed one of the songs on the album called “Acharwa Ndinyerere” which he did with Zimdancehall artiste Freeman HKD boss.
Several business people, who included Isaiah Musabayana of Eat n Lick and Partson Chimboza of Chipaz Promotions attended the launch.

Mathias Mhere Launches 10th Album

Gospel artist Mathias Mhere revealed that his new album will be launched on June 21, after he initially setting the launch for the first week of June.
The postponement of the launch resulted from the passing away of Mhere’s brother who succumbed to injuries he sustained in an accident in South Africa.
Mhere said that he has since added a track to the Album Greater Than Solomon called “Chipangamazano” dedicated to his late brother. Said Mhere:
<blockquote>We are now going ahead with the launch of the new album on June 21 at the same venue.
I have done a track for my brother called Chipangamazano, in which I celebrated his qualities.
He was very supportive of my music and I’m definitely going to pen a song for him on the forthcoming album. The song is just to remember him. He loved music too, although he didn’t sing professionally.</blockquote>
Greater Than Solomon shall be launched at The Venue in Avondale.
Tourism minister Prisca Mupfumira and Goodness and Mercy Ministries leader, Tapiwa Freddy, would be the guests of honour.

Mathias Mhere To Launch New Album On June 21

Gospel Artist Mathias Mhere is set to launch a new album during the first week of June, titled Greater Than Solomon. Mhere has roped in Malawian gospel artist, Skeffa Mulongoti Chimoto.
Mhere revealed this on Monday in an interview with Newsday Life &amp;Style where he described Chimoto as a humble and talented singer. Said Mhere:
<blockquote>I met Skeffa when he came to Zimbabwe for a CCAP Voice of Mbare function and we later talked about the music business, leading to our collaboration. 
It was a great experience working with such a talented music icon who also commands a huge following in his country and Zambia as well.
I have realised that there is power in working together as artists and producers across genres, where you get to share ideas and exchange notes.
I have worked with various musicians in many projects and have realised that, besides giving audiences variety, collaborations unite artists.
…. This forthcoming album carries different themes such as evangelism, salvation and hopes to the people and nation at large.
The song Nyika Dzibatane, featuring my Malawian brother Skeffa, seeks to unite the two countries musically and culturally, as we have enjoyed a cordial relationship.</blockquote>
‘Greater Than Solomon’ is Mhere’s eighth album and features tracks such as Jakuchichi, Suwo, Nyika Dzibatane featuring Chimoto, Mwana Wauya, Dai Zvaibvira, Hembe Yemubhero, Kamushini and Tichavamba Hondo. His last offering was titled ‘Panogara Nyasha’.

Gospel Singer Mathias Mhere To Release 8th Album, 'Greater Than Solomon'

Gospel musician, Mathias Mhere has spoken on rumours that he was once arrested.
Speaking to Star FM during an interview on Sunday 26 February, Mhere said:
<blockquote>Well I have never been imprisoned in my life and I don’t plan to be in the future. The confusion that happened was that before I released my album, “Anoita Minana” in 2012, Blessing Shumba had worked with prisoners from Mutare Remand Prison and unfortunately nobody had seen the people he had worked with, people only heard their music. So when I then dropped my album shortly after that project, many began to say I was one of the prisoners that Shumba had worked with and that’s where the confusion came from.</blockquote>
He said that his new album “Old Testament” will be launched this coming Saturday at 7 Arts Theater.

<a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Mathias_Mhere">Mathias </a>Mhere is collaborating with  Joyous Celebration artist Mhkukluli Bhebhe on his forthcoming album titled Old Testament.  Mhere is happy to work with one of Africa’s finest as well and views this as a chance to enter the international market.  Bhebhe will be featuring on the track Vana VaJesu.
Mhere spoke to  NewsDay and said:

We finished recording the song and I am happy that I had an opportunity to work with Bhebhe, a renowned artiste. I am confident that by working with him, I will have the opportunity to penetrate the international market.
</blockquote>
The album is set to be released on 4 March.
