<p data-end="164" data-start="0">Watson Munyaka, a journalist and Dug Up researcher, tragically died on Monday, March 17, after being allegedly thrown out of a moving Toyota Fortuner in Marondera.</p>
<p data-end="339" data-start="166">Maynard Manyowa, the lead investigator at Dug Up, said that staff at Marondera Provincial Hospital confirmed no expensive gadgets or money were taken from Munyaka’s body.</p>
<p data-end="431" data-is-last-node="" data-is-only-node="" data-start="341">In a post on X, Manyowa suggested that Munyaka may have been targeted because of his work. He wrote:</p>

<p>Our journalist Watson Munyaka was murdered today and his body was dumped in Marondera. Hospital staff say neither expensive gadgets nor money were removed from his body – which makes us believe he may have been targeted for work with us.</p>
<p>Watson was one of the many pillars that allowed us to conduct in-depth queries in Zimbabwe. He was our boot on the ground. An experienced researcher who knew how to conduct a thorough investigation.</p>
<p>It is a terrible and devastating blow…</p>
<p>Watson worked for both Khuluma Afrika and for Dug Up. He was a fully registered journalist accredited by the ZMC (Zimbabwe Media Commission).</p>

<p>Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident. He said:</p>

<p>The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating the circumstances in which Watson Munyaka aged 38 died in Marondera Central Business District on March 17 at around 2.10 pm after being thrown out of a moving Toyota Fortuner along Fifth Street.</p>
<p>The victim was taken to Marondera Provincial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.</p>
<p>The Zimbabwe Republic Police is appealing for information that may assist to shed light on the incident as investigations continue. More details will be released in due course.</p>

Journalist Watson Munyaka Killed In Marondera

<p>Earlier today, Malawian religious leader, Shepherd Bushiri was arrested in South Africa on charges of fraud and money laundering. Bushiri will spend the weekend in police cells in South Africa and will appear in court in Pretoria on Monday.</p>
<p>Bushiri’s spokesperson, the Zimbabwean journalist Maynard Manyowa, has publicly defended Bushiri saying the religious leader is under persecution.</p>
<p>Manyowa also said that Bushiri predicted his own arrest and knew this day would come and be overcome.</p>

<blockquote><p>This morning, as we sat in the CRL Commission waiting on the outcome of their Section 7 investigation, members of the HAWKS picked up Prophet Bushiri and charged him over a $1.1 million USD transaction involving his own money.</p>
<p>The merits of that case are a story for another day. For now i want to draw collective attention to the fact that for over a month now, we have been accused of being non-compliant, for being responsible for the stampede that killed our very own beloved family members, among other things.</p>
<p>The very same commission, a chapter 9 institution, empowered by one of the most powerful constitutions in the world, today ruled that there was no wrong doing on our part.</p>
<p>While we welcomed this vindication we did not celebrate it – because we are still mourning about the passing of members of our family.</p>
<p>However, i want to draw your collective memory to the last month. All the accusations leveled against us? What became of these?</p>
<p>We are now facing a whole new barrage of more accusations. As i said. Their merit will be tested in court and fully.</p>
<p>Since 2013, we have faced one assault and attack after the other. We have survived each.</p>
<p>From assassination attempts. From extortion attempts. Fake charges. None of those have stuck.</p>
<p>I want to avoid going into much details about what happened today. From being asked why a black man would buy a private jet to the guys who were asking for $1 million USD to make false charges go away.</p>
<p>So for today, i will remain quiet. But i do know one thing, like many of all these mountains we have faced, this will be overcome.</p>
<p>Mark my words!</p>
<p>I will leave you with this video, of the prophecy my father gave, about this very same day. He prophesied the day and he prophesied the outcome.</p>

Full Text: Bushiri's Zimbabwean Spokesperson Speaks About Prophet's Arrest

<p>Journalist Maynard Manyowa says he and his family were now living in fear for their lives after being subjected to threats by people who were not pleased with his comments exonerating the army from killing civilians on August 1.</p>
<p>Manyowa has filed a police report and a formal complaint with the Kgalema Motlanthe led Commission of Inquiry into the post-election disturbances. In a statement, the commission’s spokesperson John Masuku urged law enforcement agents to investigate the alleged threats. He also urged those attending hearings not to heckle witnesses giving their testimonies. Said Masuku:</p>
<blockquote><p>The Commission implores the police and other enforcements agents to fully investigate urgently the allegations by Mr Manyowa and bring all perpetrators of verbal and physical violence or abuse who cause harm, despondency and discouragement to citizens who have freely testified before it.</p></blockquote>
<p>Six civilians were shot and killed by what is widely believed to be members of the army who were deployed in central Harare on August 1.</p>
