A Ministry of Transport official, Enerst Shenje, who is the Deputy Director of Roads Division, has been taken to court for fraud involving USD1 million. In a statement seen by Pindula News, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) of Zimbabwe said the Ministry suffered an actual loss of USD200,000 and a potential loss of USD803,417 due to Shenje’s alleged actions.
In a statement seen by Pindula News, the NPA said SShenje is accused of collaborating with others to forge a sale agreement and manipulate paperwork to receive compensation meant for a property owner affected by a construction project. Shenje will appear in court on January 30, 2024, for a bail application. Read the statement:

Enerst Shenje (39) the Deputy Director Roads Division in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development was arraigned before the Harare Magistrates Court facing charges of fraud.
The Government through the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development embarked on a project to construct a multi-level interchange at Mbudzi roundabout. The government put in place a fund to compensate the property owners affected by this project. One of the properties affected belonged to Geoffrey Bannister and he holds a title deed to that effect. When compensation was due to be paid for the property the accused person allegedly connived with Levy Idana who is still at large and other individuals who are yet to be accounted for, to forge an agreement of sale using an old Title Deed in John Maloney’s name, predecessor in title to Geoffrey Bannister. In so doing the accused persons intended to create the impression that the property had been sold to Levy Idana and Levy Idana was now the one due to be compensated.
The fraudulent agreement of sale and the old title deed were submitted to the accused person who in turn fast-tracked the paperwork for payment of the compensation. Levy Idana received USD100 000 on the r and another USD100 000 on the 28th of December 2023 from treasury. As a result of the accused person’s alleged actions the Ministry of Transport suffered an actual prejudice of USD200 000 and a potential prejudice of USD803 417.
The accused person will appear in court on the 30th of January 2024 for bail application.

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development has introduced new measures to address the backlog of driver’s licenses. They have extended the processing time for licenses from January 2019 to December 2020. To ensure a smooth process, they are encouraging people to make their bookings online using the correct booking platform. It is important to be cautious of fraudulent websites that aim to deceive the public.
For Metal Drivers Licenses, no action is required at the moment as the licenses are considered valid until further notice. However, for Certificate of Competency (CoC) holders with a backlog between January and June 2019, there is a booking process in place. There are two options available:
Option 1 is to contact the CVR BOT at 0778112264 on WhatsApp and follow the instructions.
Option 2 is to visit the website <a href="https://cvrbooking.motzw.com/">https://cvrbooking.motzw.com</a>. It’s important to note that CoC licenses need to be renewed every 5 years, which involves updating biometric information, photos, and vision tests. The ZIMPOST card issuance process includes receiving notifications about the arrival and dispatch of the card.
To make a booking, you can save the number 0778112264 and send a message saying “hi” on WhatsApp. Alternatively, you can use the link <a href="https://cvrbooking.motzw.com/">http://cvrbooking.motzw.com</a> and complete the booking process.
These measures aim to streamline the licensing process and reduce the backlog. By utilizing online platforms, individuals can conveniently book their appointments. Step 1:

The notification for the next batch of bookings will be provided at a later time.
Step 2: 
After submitting your information, it may take up to 5 working days for your information to be confirmed and processed. You have the flexibility to check the status using either the WhatsApp bot or the web platform.
Step 3: 
Once your booking is confirmed, please check the status to ensure its confirmation. Once confirmed, you can select a convenient date and time for biometric capturing at your preferred or nearest VID depot. If needed, you can also reschedule your appointment at a later time. Ministry Of Transport Introduces Online Booking Platform To Address Driver's License Backlog

The US$88 million Mbudzi traffic interchange is taking shape with civil engineering works underway.
Notable progress has been made in the construction of reinforced concrete and steel structures that will hold pillars for the extension of the Glen Norah bridge, with the construction of diversionary routes also underway.
Once complete, the project is expected to ease congestion at the Mbudzi roundabout, which has been a headache for motorists during peak hours. A motorist told ZBC News:

There is congestion at this roundabout and we hope the interchange will remedy the situation, We are happy about this project because it will ensure smooth movement of traffic, is a good project for national development and we hope it will be completed soon.

Meanwhile, the rehabilitation of Seke road under the emergency road rehabilitation programme has resumed.
Reconstruction has commenced at Chinhamo area, Manyame Bridge and Zororo and Chikwanha junctions.
Senators recently expressed concern over the state of the Seke road indicating that some of the contractors who had rehabilitated the road only recently had done a poor job.
Residents say lots of accidents were happening in the area because of the road which was in bad shape.
The government’s economic blueprint, the National Development Strategy one (NDS1) emphasises infrastructure development as key in the realisation of national priorities.
