The death of Hillary Nleya, a military intelligence officer, has raised questions of foul play following his mysterious disappearance last month.
As reported by <a href="https://cite.org.zw/senator-tells-parliament-military-officer-found-hanging-was-murdered/">CITE</a>, Nleya was last seen at Redwood along the Plumtree-Bulawayo road, and his body was later discovered hanging from a tree in Figtree, Matabeleland South Province.
While his death was initially classified as a suicide, the narrative changed when Nleya’s military connections were revealed, raising suspicions about the circumstances surrounding his demise.
During a parliamentary debate on the Death Penalty Abolition Bill last week, Senator Lwazi Sibanda, a cousin of the late Nleya, suggested that he may have been murdered. She said:

I rise with a heavy heart. I am a woman, a mother, and a Senator of this country, yet I stand here with a cousin lying in the mortuary—Hilary Nleya—whom we searched for over two weeks, only to find him dead in Figtree. He was murdered by a person we do not yet know.

Sibanda said that while she supports the Bill, the issue is complex, as some individuals convicted of murder do not exhibit any remorse. She said:
<blockquote>
I am a law-abiding citizen of this country. I am grateful that we have a President who was spared from the death penalty.
I am a citizen who respects the law, and I am committed to the abolition of the death penalty.
We remember Geneva Sibanda, who was murdered by his gardener and wife. We remember many of our friends, colleagues—even among us—who have been murdered by people roaming the streets.
Some are known, some are unknown; some are in prison and brag about killing those they have killed.
It is painful in our hearts to say that sentencing these people to death does not serve our country.
Killing them like animals does not matter to us.
People will die. People will be killed by those we show remorse to, who don’t even show any remorse to us.”
It is so painful that I stand here defending people who will go out and kill their grandparents, or their mothers, simply because there was no food to cook for dinner. They will kill them just because their mother failed to provide food for them.
It is painful to spare a murderer who shows no remorse, like someone who kills a helpless young woman walking home after work just to steal her bag.
When they realise they’ve been seen, they kill her to prevent identification. They don’t care about tomorrow—they put a knife in her heart to save themselves.
There is so much pain caused by these murderers that we are still defending as a country.
We will keep them in prison for years, just to protect them from death, while they show no care for this nation.
I have so much more to say about the abolition of the death penalty.

The Bill was subsequently passed by the Senate and is now awaiting President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s assent to become law.

Military Intelligence Officer Found Dead: Suicide Or Murder?

An 18-year-old mother from Mkwasine has been arrested for allegedly stoning her 2-year-old son to death.
According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the suspect, Maria Zimvumi, reportedly committed the act after struggling to find employment as a maid in Chiredzi Town.
In an attempt to conceal her crime, Zimvumi allegedly carried her son’s body on her back and reported to the ZRP in Chiredzi that the child had died as a result of falling from her back. Police said:

On 12/12/24, Police in Mkwanise arrested Maria Zimvumi (18) in connection with a case of murder which occurred on 10/12/24 near Maranatha paddock. The suspect allegedly brutally stoned her baby boy (2 years old) to death for unknown reasons.
This was after the suspect failed to secure employment as a maid in Chiredzi Town. In an attempt to conceal the crime, the suspect carried the victim’s body on her back and made a report at ZRP Chiredzi claiming that the victim died after falling from her back.
Police inquiries proved that the suspect had made a false report to cover up for her criminal act.

The tragic case of a teen mother murdering her child often stems from a combination of high-stress situations, such as financial difficulties or relationship breakdowns. Mental health issues, including anxiety and other disorders, can exacerbate these pressures.
Social isolation, a lack of family support, and inadequate resources can further contribute to these devastating outcomes. When young mothers face overwhelming challenges without a strong support system, the risk of tragedy increases.

Mother (18) Allegedly Stones 2-Year-Old Son To Death

A two-month-old infant tragically died after being accidentally struck on the head with a log by her father during a domestic dispute on Monday in Kodzwa Village, Chiweshe.
It is alleged that Tapiwa Masache, 26, intended to hit his wife with the log but missed, striking their daughter instead, which led to her death.
In a separate incident on Saturday, a 30-year-old man was fatally stabbed in the chest during an altercation over beer at a bar in Chiredzi.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed both incidents in a statement which reads:

The ZRP is investigating two separate cases of murder which occurred in Chiweshe and Chiredzi.
In the first incident which occurred on 24/11/24 at Kodzwa Village, Chiweshe, a two-month-old infant was fatally struck on the head with a wooden log by her father, Tapiwa Masache (26).
The suspect had intended to assault his wife with the log during a domestic dispute but missed her. The victim was rushed to a hospital in Glendale, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival. The suspect is currently on the run.
In the second incident, which occurred on 23/11/24 at a bar in Chiredzi, Wilson Mashaya (30) was stabbed to death with a knife in the chest by a suspect identified as Mupfuka after an argument over beer. Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station.

Man Accidentally Kills Own Child During A Dispute With Wife

A police officer from Buhera, Cuthbert Mupfuki, was sentenced to 15 years in prison by the High Court after brutally murdering his wife, Brenda Manyara, with an Okapi knife. The attack occurred amid rumours that she was seeing another man, reported <a href="https://www.manicapost.co.zw/police-officer-kills-wife-over-infidelity-rumours/">The Manica Post</a>.
Mupfuki, 37, from Nechiwowe Village in Chief Nyashanu, was found guilty of murder under Section 47(1) (a) or (b) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23. At the time of the crime, he was a member of the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s Support Unit, Sierra Troop, in Changadzi.
During sentencing, Mutare High Court Judge Justice Isaac Muzenda said he considered that Mupfuki had paid 30 head of cattle as reparation to the deceased’s family.
The court heard that on October 10 2023, Mupfuki stabbed Manyara multiple times, resulting in her death at the scene. A post-mortem conducted by Dr Elisha Murasiranwa at Birchenough Bridge Hospital determined that respiratory failure due to trauma was the cause of death.
Witness Constance Gwemba, a niece of the victim, testified that she was at Mupfuki’s home with Manyara and other family members when Mupfuki invited Manyara to their bedroom.
Shortly after, Gwemba heard screams for help but found the door locked. Peering through a window, she saw Mupfuki pressing Manyara against the wall while accusing her of wanting to degrade him by dating a local villager, Joseph Murwisi.
Mupfuki later dragged Manyara’s body to the passage and opened the door, walking away while declaring it was better for him to be in prison than with a “cheating” wife. Gwemba discovered Manyara lying on the floor, bleeding profusely from her chest and with a deep cut on her left hand.
At around 9 PM that evening, Mupfuki called villager Chipo Madidi, instructing her to gather everyone at the homestead. When he returned, he stated that he knew why he had killed Manyara.
Another witness, Mupfuki’s daughter Barbra, recounted hearing her mother being beaten and later witnessing her father emerge, claiming he would turn himself in to the police.
Madidi testified that when she arrived at the scene, she found Manyara’s lifeless body in the sitting room. Mupfuki admitted over the phone that he had killed Manyara due to her supposed affair with Joseph Murwisi.
Murwisi himself testified that on the evening of the incident, he was attacked by Mupfuki while cycling home.
Mupfuki struck him with a log, causing him to fall. Despite his injuries, Murwisi managed to escape, leaving his bicycle and groceries behind.
After the attack, Murwisi heard people crying at Mupfuki’s home; he sustained bruises and a swollen arm from the assault.

Police Officer Gets 15 Years For Killing Wife In Jealous Rage

A man accused of murder nine years ago recently stirred emotions in his community when he returned to the scene of the crime under police guard for a reconstruction exercise.
The incident took place in Bilingoma Village, Ward 5, Matjinge, Plumtree, Matabeleland South Province.
According to <a href="https://cite.org.zw/haunted-by-victims-ghost-murder-suspect-returns-to-crime-scene-nine-years-later/">CITE</a>, the accused, Costine Moyo, allegedly killed and buried his victim in that very location in 2015.
A local villager, speaking to CITE, revealed that Moyo had been jailed for the crime but was released in 2014. Added the villager:

In 2016, he raped two women in Matjinge and Gambo, then evaded police by hiding in the Tsholotsho bush, where he committed another rape before being caught.
</blockquote>
Witnesses told CITE that Moyo arrived in the village under police escort, who announced that he was there to assist in locating the remains of a person allegedly murdered near the Big Bite shops in 2015.
According to local sources, a woman named Loveness Dube played a role in the incident by allegedly helping Moyo lure the victim, claiming she had arranged a job for him in Lupane. Said a villager:

The victim, unaware, travelled with Dube to Bulawayo, where he was met by Moyo and others at Big Bite shops.
They gave him alcohol and killed him later that night. Moyo confessed that Big Bite took parts of the victim’s body – including his head, hand, foot and private parts – and burned the remains with 10 litres of petrol.

Villagers claimed that the morning after the murder, Dube discovered bones, a satchel, and a birth certificate at the site.
Unable to read, Moyo began using the birth certificate without realising it revealed the identity of the deceased.
During his conversations with the villagers, Moyo disclosed that four people were involved in the murder: Big Bite, Loveness, Tendai, and another unnamed individual.
He claimed that he had been haunted by the victim, who appeared in his dreams demanding to be taken home.
The villagers also said Moyo confessed that Big Bite had promised him R20 000 but did not pay it.

A man named Costine Moyo was accused of a murder nine years ago. Recently, he returned to the scene of the crime with police. He allegedly killed and buried his victim in Bilingoma Village. Murder Suspect Returns To Crime Scene 9 Years Later, Claims Harassment By Victim's Ghost

A 23-year-old Zimbabwean man, identified by friends as Saymore, was stabbed to death in Leeds, West Yorkshire, around midnight on Tuesday, reported <a href="https://www.zimlive.com/grief-as-zimbabwean-man-stabbed-to-death-in-leeds-united-kingdom/">ZimLive</a>.
Police confirmed the murder, saying that Saymore received emergency treatment at the scene before being taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.
Initial reports indicate that he was attacked inside a ground-floor flat in the Belle Isle area by three males who fled the scene.
A search, aided by a police helicopter, led to the arrest of two suspects aged 18 and 16 in the Middleton area shortly afterwards.
The suspects were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and are being investigated in connection with the murder.
The West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Enquiry Team is leading the investigation and has confirmed the teenagers’ arrests.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle said:

Our investigation remains in its very early stages, and we are still building up a picture of the circumstances in which this young man has been fatally attacked.
His death, in such a sudden and violent way, is an absolute tragedy and we will be continuing to support his family at what is clearly a very difficult time for them, while working to get them the answers they need.
We are keen to hear from anyone with any information that could assist the investigation, particularly anyone who witnessed a disturbance or anything suspicious at or around the address at any point leading up to when the emergency services were called shortly after midnight.
We are carrying out house-to-house enquiries in the area and would ask that people check their CCTV or doorbell footage for anything that could be relevant, as well as any dashcam footage from anyone who was driving in Winrose Avenue or the surrounding area around the time of the incident.
We recognise that people in the community will be shocked by what has happened and I want to reassure them that we are treating this incident very seriously and liaising closely with our district policing colleagues who will be maintaining an increased presence in the area.

Friends described Saymore as a friendly and outgoing individual, fluent in Shona and known for his love of the nightlife.
He was a regular at Call Lane, a bustling street in central Leeds renowned for its vibrant nightlife, as well as Exodus, a popular spot on the edge of the city centre frequented by the Zimbabwean community in the area.

A 23-year-old man from Zimbabwe, named Saymore, was killed in Leeds, UK. He was stabbed by three people and later died in the hospital. Zimbabwean Man Fatally Stabbed In Leeds, United Kingdom

A security guard accidentally shot and killed a 36-year-old man while clearing a rifle at Singari Mine, Saruwe on Friday evening.
According to ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the security guard, Anthony Mutafera (21), accidentally pulled the trigger of a .303 rifle and fatally shot Innocent Maruku while clearing the weapon.
Mutafera has been arrested in connection with the incident and is assisting police with their investigations.
In a separate but equally tragic incident, police in Murereka have arrested Goodwill Love (25) in connection with a murder that occurred on Friday at Fairplay Farm near Risheng Mine, Chikuti.
The victim, Benny Chidiwa, was allegedly assaulted with a shovel and logs by Love and two accomplices, Bigboy and Brave, who are also accused of burning Chidiwa’s feet with firewood after accusing him of stealing a cellphone.
In yet another murder case, the body of an unidentified man was found at a church shrine in the Chirasavana area of Dema, Seke on Friday.
The body was covered with a blanket and had a cut on the head. A blood-stained stone was recovered from the scene.
Police are appealing to the public for any information that could assist their investigation.

Security Guard Accidentally Kills Man While Cleaning Rifle

Kadoma businessman Eric Tambudze was reportedly shot dead by unknown assailants at his home in West View last Friday.
Tambudze was a multifaceted entrepreneur; he was a farmer, a pharmacist, and operated a chain of bookstores, in addition to being involved in gold mining.
His son, Leslie, told <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200034537/kadoma-businessman-brutally-killed">NewsDay</a> that the assailants did not steal anything from the scene. He said:
<blockquote>
I don’t have much to say but that’s what happened. My father was shot dead upon arriving home from work by some people last Friday.
</blockquote>
The spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Mashonaland West Province, Inspector Ian Kohwera, directed all inquiries to national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, who said he would issue a statement on Monday.
Eric Tambudze is survived by his wife and two children.

Kadoma Businessman Killed In Cold Blood

Edwin Muchekayawa, a Zvishavane man, was on 12 October 2024, convicted and sentenced to 24 years in prison by the High Court sitting at Gweru for murder.
Muchekayawa was 22 years old when he committed the crime, and the victim, Passmore Shumba, was 25.
Allegations were that on 19 August 2023, Muchekayawa went to Shumba’s homestead around 11 PM. Shumba was married to Muchekayawa’s ex-girlfriend.
Upon arrival, Muchekayawa knocked on the window and called Shumba’s name. When Shumba came out, Muchekayawa struck him with a stone using a catapult on the ribs.
Muchekayawa then fled the scene, and Shumba did not see who had assaulted him.
The following morning at around 7 AM, Shumba, Tawanda Shumba, and Chengeto Nyadzo tracked Muchekayawa’s footprints in an attempt to find the person who had shot Shumba with a catapult the previous day. The spoor led to Muchekayawa’s homestead.
They threatened to report Muchekayawa to the headman. As they were leaving his homestead, Muchekayawa armed himself with an axe and chased them.
The men ran in different directions. The deceased fell to the ground, whereupon Muchekayawa caught up with him and struck him with the axe once on the head, behind the ear, leading to his death.
Muchekayawa fled the scene soon after, leaving the deceased lying on the ground in a pool of blood.
The matter was reported to the police, leading to the arrest of Muchekayawa.

A man named Edwin Muchekayawa was sent to prison for 24 years for hurting and killing his ex-girlfriend's husband named Passmore Shumba. He first attacked Shumba with a stone, then later with an axe. Shumba's friends found him hurt and followed footprints to Muchekayawa's home. Muchekayawa tried to attack them with an axe, and in the confusion, he ended up killing Shumba. Muchekayawa then ran away but was caught by the police and sent to jail for his actions.

Zvishavane Man Murders Ex-Girlfriend's Husband, Sentenced To 24 Years

A Shurugwi man who brutally murdered his two girlfriends has been sentenced to two life sentences by the High Court.
Emmanuel Mahembe, convicted on murder charges on Wednesday, 25 September, was 37 years old at the time of the offences. The High Court session took place in Gweru.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed Mahembe’s sentence on Friday, September 27, saying he lured unsuspecting women into relationships before committing the murders. Said the NPA:

Sometime between August 2021 and September 2022, the accused person met with the first deceased, his girlfriend (aged 37 at the time) at Donga, Chachacha Business Centre, Shurugwi.
The two drove the now deceased’s motor vehicle, a Honda Fit, to the Dhanga dip tank where the accused person murdered the deceased.
He wrapped the body in a blanket and buried it along the Gwamamvura River bed before driving off in her motor vehicle. He later sold the motor vehicle.
On the 22nd of May 2021 the accused person met with the second deceased, his other girlfriend (aged 35 at the time).
The two drove off to the second deceased’s sister’s home in Shurugwi. Along the way, the two had a misunderstanding over money.
The argument escalated and the accused person murdered the deceased and dumped the body in a disused mine shaft at Mutevekwi Bridge.
After killing the deceased, the accused wickedly impersonated the deceased and preyed on her son’s emotional vulnerability and cunningly convinced him to send money to the deceased’s Ecocash account, which money he diverted to personal use.
He also continued driving around in the deceased’s motor vehicle, a Honda Fit.

The matter came to light when the deceased’s relatives became suspicious and alerted the Police leading to Mahembe’s arrest.

A man in Shurugwi killed his two girlfriends. He got two life sentences for this. He met his first girlfriend in 2021 and killed her. He buried her body and sold her car. Later, he met his second girlfriend in 2021. They argued and he killed her too. He pretended to be her and took money from her son. Finally, he got caught by the police. He will spend his life in prison for these cruel acts.

Shurugwi Man Gets Two Life Sentences For Lovers’ Brutal Murder

Mitch Tafirenyika, a member of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), recently appeared before the High Court in Gweru facing serious murder charges. 
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), at the time of the incident, Tafirenyika was just 28 years old.
He was part of a specialised police unit assigned to apprehend two armed robbery suspects, Tichaona Muzhanduki and Doubt Munsaka, at Radway Farm.
Upon arriving at the farm, the team of officers divided into four groups to surround the residence strategically.
Tafirenyika, along with a colleague, was armed with service rifles. When the police knocked on the door and identified themselves, the now-deceased person opened the door.
As soon as the door was opened, Tafirenyika discharged his firearm multiple times, striking the deceased in the chest and arms, and killing him instantly.
Following the incident, Tafirenyika was charged for murder and found guilty. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Friday, 20 September.
In recent years, there have been serious allegations against police conducting extra-judicial executions, especially on suspected armed robbers during “indications”.
On Thursday, 19 September, President Emmerson Mnangagwa swore in the members of the Zimbabwe Independent Complaints Commission (ZICC) which will be responsible for investigating complaints of misconduct against members of the security services, including the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF), Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO), and Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS).

A police officer named Mitch Tafirenyika shot and killed an armed robbery suspect named Tichaona Muzhanduki at Radway Farm. He was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 20 years in jail. People have been accusing the police of killing suspects without a fair trial. To address this issue, a commission called ZICC was formed to investigate complaints against the security forces. President Emmerson Mnangagwa set up this commission to keep the police, army, intelligence, and prison officers in check. This incident shows that everyone, even the police, should follow the law.

Police Officer Jailed 20 Years For Killing Armed Robbery Suspect

The Midlands Province has the highest rate of murder cases in the country, with 90% of these incidents involving lethal weapons, according to the National Prosecution Authority (NPA).
In a recent series of murder cases handled by the courts, some offences involved police officers, including a case involving Officer Mitch Tafirenyika.
Tafirenyika, who was aged 28 at the time he committed the offence, was accused of murder and appeared before a Gweru magistrate last week.
He had been part of a special unit assigned to apprehend two armed robbery suspects, Tichaona Muzhanduki and Doubt Munsaka, at a local farm. Said the NPA:
<blockquote>
Tafirenyika and a colleague were armed with service rifles and proceeded to the farm, where upon arrival they split into four groups and surrounded the house. The now-deceased opened the door after the police had knocked on the door.
</blockquote>
Tafirenyika immediately opened fire and shot the deceased in the chest and arms, killing him instantly. He will receive his sentence this Friday.
In another case, a 34-year-old man was sentenced to life in prison for two counts of murder. Courage Hwami appeared before the High Court in Gweru, facing charges of murder and attempted murder.
The first count pertains to an incident on December 4, 2023, involving Hwami, a 19-year-old victim, and a complainant at the Vhudzijena Night Club in Mkoba 16 Business Centre.
During their time at the club, a misunderstanding escalated between Hwami and the deceased. Reads the document:

The two fought, and the security officer at the club restrained them. After a while, the accused person charged towards the deceased, who was with the complainant, and stabbed him with a Columbia knife once on the left side of the chest and the back.
</blockquote>
Hwami gave chase to the complainant and stabbed him once in the chest outside the bar before fleeing the scene. The deceased died on the spot as a result of the attack.
Hwami was eventually arrested, tried, convicted and sentenced to life in prison for the first count of murder and was given an additional 10-year sentence for count two.
In yet another case, a 20-year-old Shurugwi man was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for killing his cousin over a plate of sadza. Said the NPA:

Tawanda Chinyati (20) appeared before the High Court sitting at Gweru on murder charges. The accused person and the now-deceased are cousins.
On 24 February 2024 the accused person and the now deceased, aged 23 at the time the offence was committed, were at home where supper was served. 
The family of four was supposed to eat in pairs. The deceased refused to share his plate saying that he was the eldest.
The accused person and the other two shared one plate and the deceased ate alone. When the now deceased finished his food he joined the other three and started eating their food.
An argument arose between the accused person and the now-deceased and the now-deceased slapped the accused person once on the face.
The accused person walked away and returned with a flick knife which he used to stab the now-deceased once in the chest before fleeing the scene.
The deceased was taken to Shurugwi District Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The accused person was convicted and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.
</blockquote>
In Mvuma, Trust Khaki was convicted and sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder of his 15-month-old daughter.
The crime occurred in 2021 when his wife left the infant in his care while she went to collect the family’s share of social welfare donations. Said the NPA:

When the deceased’s mother returned, she found the accused holding the deceased, who was struggling to breathe, with bruises on her chin, a swollen left side, a bump on her forehead, and a scratch on her back.
The deceased was rushed to her grandmother, where they established that she was already dead.
</blockquote>
It was discovered during investigations that the deceased had been struck once on the head with a blunt object and several times all over the body with an unknown object. It was also established that the deceased had been sexually abused.

These cases show how serious and dangerous murder is, and people can go to jail for a long time for committing such crimes. It is important to always resolve conflicts peacefully and not resort to violence.

Midlands Province Tops Murder Cases, 90% Of Killings Involve Lethal Weapons

Cai Yulong, a Chinese national operating Stone Steel Blue Mine in Zhombe, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder of one miner, the injury of another, and assaulting yet another individual.
On Wednesday, September 18, the National Prosecuting Authority reported that Cai was arraigned before the High Court sitting at Gokwe, where he was charged with three offences: murder, attempted murder, and assault. Said the NPA:

On the 26th of May 2024 the deceased and his workmates, employed by Black Hand 10 Mine were on duty, underground constructing a barricade at an area where their mine meets that of the accused.
As they were working, the accused person approached and fired gunshots at them. They fled the scene towards the exit point and the accused person pursued them.
The accused person shot the now deceased in the thigh who died as a result of the gunshot wound.
He also shot one of the deceased’s workmates in the knee and thigh before proceeding to assault the other on the head using his fists.
A Police report was made leading to the arrest of the accused person.
He was convicted and sentenced to 30 years imprisonment for murder. He was sentenced to a further 5 years imprisonment for attempted murder. 
Both sentences will run concurrently. He was also sentenced to a fine of US$100 for assault, in default, 1 month imprisonment.

In a report in June 2024, the NPA said Cai (58), shot and killed a man from Chief Njelele in Gokwe and injured his colleague after they encroached into his mine in Zhombe.
It said Cai, from Stone Still Mine 10, Marandure Farm, Zhombe appeared before the Kwekwe Magistrates’ court facing one count of murder, one count of attempted murder and one count of assault. The NPA said at the time:

On the 26th of May 2024 Goni Goni (23), Komborerai Shariwa (24), John Muchawaya (34) and Lovemore Mapfanya (20) all of Village Tirivanhu, Chief Njelele, Gokwe were working underground at Blackhand 10 Mine, Zhombe, Kwekwe.
The four encroached into another shaft at Blue Belle Mine, Zhombe which is owned by the accused person.
Allegations are that the accused person who was armed with a pistol approached them and shot Goni Goni once in the left thigh. He died on the spot.
He is also alleged to have shot John Muchawaya thrice: once on the left knee, once on the right ankle and once on the left thigh.
Muchawaya sustained three gunshot wounds and he is currently admitted at Kwekwe General Hospital.
Further allegations are that the accused person hit Lovemore Mapfanya once on the head with a fist.
Mapfanya fled from the scene and filed a Police report leading to the arrest of the accused person.

A Chinese man named Cai Yulong has been sentenced to 30 years in jail for killing a man and injuring others in a mine in Gokwe, Zimbabwe. Cai shot at the miners and chased after them, killing one and injuring others. He was found guilty of murder, attempted murder, and assault. Cai's sentences will run concurrently, meaning they will happen at the same time. The incident happened in May 2024, and Cai was arrested soon after. He was charged, convicted, and sentenced for his crimes.

Chinese Miner Sentenced To 30 Years In Jail For Killing Gokwe Man

A Zimbabwean woman and her South African friend were allegedly shot dead in South Africa’s Limpopo province and their remains were fed to pigs by a local farmer.
35-year-old Locadia Ndlovhu, her husband Mabutho Ncube, and Ndlovhu’s 45-year-old friend Maria Makgato were reportedly searching for discarded food at a dumpsite on Onvervaght Farm in Sebayeng, outside Polokwane, when they were attacked.
Ndlovhu and Makgato were killed, while Ncube managed to escape with serious injuries and was able to recount the horrific incident.
The farm owner, 60-year-old Zachariah Olivier, along with two of his employees – 19-year-old Adriaan de Wet and 45-year-old Zimbabwean national William Musoro – have since been arrested and charged with murder, attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, as well as defeating the ends of justice.
Musoro faces an additional charge of contravening the Immigration Act.
The accused persons have appeared before the Mankweng Magistrates Court, and the matter has been postponed to August 30 this year for a formal bail application.
In a statement, Limpopo province police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said:

The suspects were arrested after the discovery of two decomposed women’s bodies in a pigsty on a farm in Sebayeng, outside Mankweng, on August 20.
The arrests followed a thorough investigation by the Provincial Tracking Team and Murder and Robbery Unit.
The investigation began when a 45-year-old South African woman went missing after visiting the farm on August 17, accompanied by a 35-year-old foreign national woman.
Both women sustained gunshot wounds and a 47-year-old foreign national man, who was with them, was also shot and hospitalised.

Capricorn District Municipality Executive Mayor Mamedupi Teffo said they are vehemently opposed to granting bail to the accused. Said Teffo:

What is disturbing about this incident is that not only did the perpetrators shoot them, but they also fed them to the pigs after they killed them.
We are going to come here on August 30 when the three accused appear so that we show our dissatisfaction and so that they do not also get bail.

A woman from Zimbabwe and her friend from South Africa were killed by a farmer in South Africa. The farmer fed their remains to pigs. The woman's husband survived and told the police what happened. Zimbabwean Woman Killed In South Africa, Remains Fed To Pigs

A 29-year-old man from Rujeko C in Masvingo was on July 27, 2024, fatally stabbed in a kombi altercation involving two women and some men.
The ZRP spokesperson for Masvingo Province, Kudakwashe Dhewa, confirmed the murder of Nyararayi Siyavizwa to <a href="https://x.com/TellZimbabwe/status/1818536664504865017">TellZim News</a>. Dhewa said three suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident. He said:

I can confirm the murder of Siyavizwa (29) and three suspects have since been arrested in line with the case.
We call upon members of the public to desist from resolving disputes using violence. At no point shall violence substitute dialogue.
</blockquote>
It is alleged that Siyavizwa, along with his two friends Tinotenda Mateo (19) and Andrew Chapwanya (20), boarded a commuter omnibus (Toyota Hiace) on their way home from the Chibuku Neshamwari Festival held at Mucheke Stadium on July 27, 2024.
During the journey, Siyavizwa became embroiled in an altercation with three other passengers in the kombi – Alouis Charles Dhangu Madembo (25) from Vanyoro Village, Chief Nyakunhuwa in Zaka, Rosemary Gave (29) from Garapasi village in Chirumhanzi, Masvingo, and Viola Linia Tasara (34) from Musovi Village, Chief Nemauzhe in Chivi.
When the group disembarked the kombi at the intersection of Corner Kelvin Majange Street and Enard Manyimo Gutsa, it is alleged that one of the accused individuals grabbed Siyavizwa while another stabbed him just below the collarbone with a sharp object. The perpetrators then fled the scene.
Siyavizwa’s friends, Mateo and Chapwanya, tried to assist, but were unable to stop the bleeding, leading to Siyavizwa’s death at the location.
They subsequently reported the incident to the police, resulting in the arrest of Madembo, Gave and Tasara.

A man from Masvingo was killed in a fight on a minibus. The police caught three people in connection with the murder. The man, along with his friends, got into an argument with other passengers in the minibus. When they got off the minibus, one of the passengers stabbed the man. His friends tried to help, but he died from the stab wound. The friends reported the incident to the police, and three suspects were arrested. The police advise people to not solve arguments with violence.

Masvingo Man Fatally Stabbed In Kombi Altercation

A teacher at Jeche Primary School was allegedly murdered by his wife following a dispute over money.
The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Douglas Jeche, a teacher at the local school which is located near Sadza Growth Point.
The murder occurred when Jeche allegedly transferred his salary from his bank account to his EcoCash mobile money wallet, without informing his wife, Memory Choga (41).
Choga, unaware of the transfer, tried to withdraw money from her husband’s account but was unable to do so.
Upon returning home, Choga is said to have confronted Jeche and assaulted him with a log, resulting in injuries that ultimately led to his death.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident to <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/wife-kills-husband-over-salary/">The Herald</a>. He said:

On July 19, 2024, Memory Choga (41) was arrested in connection with a case of murder which occurred at Jeche Primary School, Sadza, in which her husband Douglas Choga (45) died.
The suspect indiscriminately assaulted the victim with a log following a misunderstanding after the husband had transferred his monthly salary from his bank account into his EcoCash account.
The husband sustained multiple wounds all over the body and he succumbed to the injuries.

Teacher Murdered By Wife Following Dispute Over Salary

Two brothers from Bindura were arraigned before the Bindura Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, on allegations of murder.
It is alleged that on July 6, 2024, Shadreck Mukono (24) and John Mukono (31) visited the home of the now-deceased in Glendale, to collect their estranged sister’s belongings.
The sister was the now deceased’s wife, and they were in the process of a divorce.
At the deceased’s home, a misunderstanding arose between the accused brothers and the deceased.
The deceased had told the brothers that he needed someone to witness the process of handing over his wife’s belongings.
This did not sit well with the accused, who allegedly assaulted the deceased all over his body using booted feet and wooden sticks.
A police report was filed, and the deceased was referred to Concession Hospital, where he received treatment and was later discharged.
However, his condition deteriorated on July 7, 2024, and he was transported to Bindura Provincial Hospital, where he passed away on July 8, 2024.
The accused brothers were remanded out of custody until their next court appearance on August 20, 2024.

Two Brothers Kill Brother-in-law

A 26-year-old man from Village 10, Zviumwa in Shurugwi was arraigned before the Shurugwi Magistrates’ Court, facing charges of murder.
The accusations stem from a fatal assault that allegedly occurred after a fellow bar patron spilt the accused’s beer.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the incident took place on July 7, 2024, at a bottle store located in the Zviumwa Business Centre in Shurugwi District, Midlands Province.
The accused, identified as Albert Gido, accused the 35-year-old victim, Future Ngwenya, of spilling his beer and proceeded to assault him with his bare hands.
Other patrons at the bar intervened and restrained Gido from further attacking Ngwenya. However, it is alleged that around 11 PM, after most of the other customers had left the premises, Gido assaulted Ngwenya again – this time with his bare hands and a plastic chair, while an accomplice, Trymore Manhoro (30), who remains at large, held the victim down.
The bar operator then chased both Gido and Manhoro out of the establishment. It is reported that Gido subsequently dragged the severely injured Ngwenya to a secluded location, where he allegedly stabbed the victim in the stomach and armpit with a sharp object.
The accused and his accomplice then fled the scene, leaving Ngwenya bleeding profusely and holding his protruding intestines.
Gido was remanded in custody until July 26.

A man from Shurugwi was charged with murder for killing another man at a bar after he spilled his beer. The accused, Albert Gido, assaulted the victim, Future Ngwenya, with his hands and a chair. Even after others stopped him, he attacked again later that night with help from an accomplice. The victim was later dragged away and stabbed. Gido was arrested and will remain in jail until his trial on July 26. The incident happened in 2024 at a bar in Shurugwi.

Shurugwi Man Killed For Spilling Beer

Residents of Pumula suburb in Bulawayo have reportedly found what is believed to be the murder weapon used to kill Khangelani Nkiwane on Sunday.
The victim was allegedly killed by her live-in boyfriend, Oscar Khumalo.
According to <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/residents-find-gun-used-in-pumula-murder/">The Chronicle</a>, the suspected murder weapon – a gun – was discovered in a bushy area by a resident, who then immediately notified the police.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson for Bulawayo Province, Inspector Abednico Ncube, has issued an appeal to members of the public.
He requested that anyone with information about the whereabouts of Oscar Khumalo should come forward and assist the ongoing police investigation. Said Insp. Ncube:
<blockquote>
We are still looking for Khumalo and are appealing to members of the public to come forward should they have information about his whereabouts.
We would like to urge all men in Bulawayo to not resort to violence when solving disputes but rather to look for a third person to intervene.
</blockquote>
Khumalo, who works as a security guard, <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/security-guard-shoots-kills-wife/">allegedly shot Nkiwane three times around 5 PM on Sunday</a> at the rented house they shared.
Khumalo is said to have used his work-issued pistol during the incident before fleeing the scene.
Nkiwane was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital but tragically succumbed to the injuries she sustained from the shooting.
Further details indicate that during the dispute, Nkiwane had initially managed to escape from Khumalo and locked herself in the landlord’s room.
However, Khumalo then allegedly moved to the window and shot her three times – once in the hand and twice in the back.
The landlady, Hoitsi Nkomo, provided a harrowing account, describing how the enraged Khumalo chased after a naked Nkiwane, intent on attacking her. She said:
<blockquote>
I saw her running towards my room and initially, I thought she was running away from my vicious dogs.
But I then realised that she wasn’t running away from the dogs but Khumalo, who was brandishing a pistol while threatening to kill her.
She forced herself into my bedroom, half naked and my grandchildren were also in the room.
My grandchildren assisted in shutting out Khumalo and when we thought everything was now calm, he moved outside the house and went to my bedroom window where he opened fire, shooting her three times.
</blockquote>
Nkomo said that as Khumalo made his escape from the scene, the neighbours promptly called the police.
An ambulance also arrived and rushed the critically injured Nkiwane to Mpilo Central Hospital.
Nkomo further stated that although Nkiwane was bleeding extensively, she was still in stable condition and able to communicate by the time she was transported to the hospital.
The spokesperson for the Nkiwane family, Albert Mhlanga, revealed that Khumalo had a history of abusive and violent behaviour towards the victim.
Mhlanga claimed that Khumalo had threatened to kill Nkiwane on several occasions before this tragic incident. He said:
<blockquote>
Khumalo had been threatening to steal a gun and shoot our daughter for the past two weeks. He was a very jealous man and had even banned our daughter from attending church.
In fact, on the day of the dispute, I had talked to him about the issue and he promised that he wouldn’t be abusive anymore.
It was our wish as a family that our daughter left him, but she loved him, so we decided to let them be. I wish she had not ignored our advice.

A security guard named Oscar Khumalo shot his live-in girlfriend Khangelani Nkiwane three times with a gun in Bulawayo. The police are looking for Khumalo who fled the scene after the shooting. Nkiwane was taken to the hospital but sadly died from her injuries. The family knew Khumalo was abusive and had threatened Nkiwane before. They wished she had left him earlier. People are being urged not to use violence to solve problems, but to seek help from others. The community found the gun used in the murder and reported it to the police.

Security Guard Shoots Live-in Girlfriend 3 Times

Kelvin Kagondo, a 34-year-old Harare resident, has been charged with murder after he allegedly fatally struck one of his assailants during a confrontation.
On Monday, Kagondo appeared before Harare magistrate Apollonia Marutya, who remanded him in custody until July 22, 2024, and advised him to approach the High Court for a bail application, reported <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200029361/man-kills-attacker-faces-murder-charge">NewsDay</a>.
According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on July 3, 2024, when Kagondo was on his way home in Retreat Waterfalls, Harare, from his mother’s residence in the same neighbourhood.
Kagondo was carrying children’s bicycles, a pram, a guitar, and a small bucket containing 60 boiled eggs.
The court heard that the now-deceased and other patrons, who were drinking at a local beer outlet, confronted Kagondo and demanded to know the origin of the items he was carrying.
The deceased and his accomplices then reportedly assaulted Kagondo, accusing him of stealing the property and demanding a confession.
During the altercation, Kagondo allegedly picked up a quarter brick and threw it towards the assailants in retaliation, striking one of the men on the head.
The man fell unconscious and was later pronounced dead on arrival at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital.
Prosecutor Thomas Chanakira told the court that Kagondo fled the scene, but his blood-stained shirt was later recovered during the investigation.
The police also recovered the blood-stained brick used in the alleged murder.

Harare Man Charged With Murder After Killing "Attacker"

An unidentified man’s body was discovered floating in Mazowe Dam, showing signs of ritual murder with missing body parts.
According to a statement from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the body was found on Monday, secured with a stone tied to the waist, and bore stab wounds. Police said:

Police in Mazowe are investigating circumstances surrounding a case of suspected murder in which the body of a yet-to-be-identified man was found floating in the water at Mazowe Dam on 01/07/24.
A stone was tied to the victim’s waist using a rope and the body had a stab wound on the chest. Facial skin and private parts were missing. Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station.
</blockquote>
In an unrelated incident, the ZRP confirmed that two men, Nomore Chikandiwa (32) and Solomon Chikandiwa (35), are sought in connection with a murder that took place on Monday around 12:30 am in Chinovhiringa Village.
The suspects allegedly took turns assaulting Sammer Panashe Kaimbanemoyo (23) with sticks and a sjambok after he allegedly broke into Nomore Chikandiwa’s house and attempted to rape his wife.
Tragically, the victim died at the scene, and the suspects are currently evading capture.
Meanwhile, in Gokwe, the ZRP is investigating the murder of an unidentified man at a nightclub in Gokwe Centre that occurred on Saturday.
Police said the man was fatally attacked by a mob after he stabbed a woman in the chest with a knife during a heated altercation.
In an incident fueled by jealousy, Malvin Mukore (38) was fatally stabbed at Lenzo Shopping Centre, Village 4C, Nyamahape, Karoi.
The suspect, identified as John Nyoni, is currently on the run after allegedly stabbing Mukore in the back with a flick knife. The confrontation arose when Nyoni discovered his wife in the company of Mukore.

Body Found In Mazowe Dam With Missing Parts

A woman from Maphisa, Kezi, Matabeleland South Province was last week convicted and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by the High Court sitting at Bulawayo for killing her husband.
Sindiso Ndlovu (42) was found guilty of murder as defined in Section 47 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), on 19 October 2019 in Maphisa, Ndlovu, set her husband, Busani Ncube, ablaze with the intent to kill him.
The couple had a domestic dispute in their bedroom over the now deceased’s infidelity. During the altercation, Ndlovu locked the door and doused Ncube with petrol before setting him on fire.
The police were alerted, leading to Ndlovu’s arrest. Ncube was initially treated at Maphisa District Hospital before being transferred to United Bulawayo Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on January 8, 2020.

Kezi Woman Sentenced To 10 Years For Burning Husband To Death

A member of the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) died at United Bulawayo Hospitals on Tuesday, where he was admitted after he was stabbed in the back.
The family of ZNA warrant officer class 2, Louice Dube, suspect his girlfriend murdered him.
However, the official version of his death is that he committed suicide.
Louice’s uncle, Retired Colonel Tshinga Dube, told <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200028243/soldier-in-mysterious-death">NewsDay</a> that the family suspected foul play. He said:

He died on Tuesday and had a stab wound on his back. His girlfriend, who is also a sergeant soldier, claimed he stabbed himself and she is the one who pulled the knife out.
How would one stab himself in the back? I have told the family not to bury him until investigations are complete.
</blockquote>
Dube claimed the couple had misunderstandings.
ZNA spokesperson Colonel Alphios Makotore also confirmed the death, adding that the matter was under investigation. He said:

The cause of death has not yet been established and investigations are in progress. This means the case is still sub judice since the police are carrying out investigations.
</blockquote>
No comment could be obtained from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) on the state of the investigations.

Foul Play Suspected In Soldier's Death

A Mutare man allegedly murdered his wife on infidelity suspicions and is now using her phone to frequently send text messages to his mother-in-law to make her believe that her daughter is alive and employed as a domestic worker in Chipinge.
Stephen Musimwa is being linked to the murder of his wife, Gladys Manyaire (27), whose body was found lying in a stream in Mwaamba Village, under Chief Zimunya in January this year.
The deceased’s mother, Mrs Winnie Manyaire told officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) that she was frequently receiving text messages from the deceased’s mobile number.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) acting spokesperson in Manicaland Province, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the development to <a href="https://www.manicapost.co.zw/late-daughter-sends-mom-text-messages/">The Manica Post</a>. He said:

On December 29, 2023, the suspect communicated with the deceased through her mobile phone, requesting her to travel to Mutare on December 30, 2023, so that they could acquire a birth certificate for their child.
The now deceased discussed the issue with her mother, Mrs Winnie Manyaire who advised her to proceed to Mutare as per the suspect’s request.
On December 30, 2023, Gladys left home proceeding to Mutare to meet Musimwa. That is the day she was last seen alive by her mother.
On January 4, 2024, at about 8 am, her body was discovered in a stream which connects to the Musengezi River in Mwaamba Village by a 10-year-old boy who was looking for their turkeys.
He rushed and told his parents who reported the matter to the police. Police attended the scene and recovered the body which was lying in a stream in an advanced state of decomposition.
The body was dressed in a blue jean skirt, maroon top and maroon and white jersey. The victim’s sandals were discovered about five metres from the body.
Cut injuries were observed on the deceased’s left-hand fingers. Injuries on Gladys’ body could not be established due to the advanced state of decomposition. A kitchen knife was recovered about 3,5m from Glady’s body.

Asst. Insp. Chinyoka said Mrs Manyaire was interviewed by the police, and indicated that she was frequently receiving text messages from someone using the late Glady’s cellphone line, 0779341981. He said:

The suspect purports to be the deceased and working in Chipinge as a domestic worker.
Mrs Manyaire also stated that she is receiving text messages from the suspect’s line 0785086705, checking on his son.
The suspect also texted the deceased’s mother, telling her that Gladys was not answering his calls.
Mrs Manyaire further stated that the suspect arrived at her homestead on January 3, 2024, around 1 AM to leave a smartphone for his kid to play games.
After going through Mrs Manyaire’s text messages, it is suspected that the suspect is the one who is communicating with her using the deceased’s line.
There is consistency between the sequence and nature of texts from the deceased and suspect’s lines to Mrs Manyaire’s phone.
</blockquote>
Asst Insp Chinyoka appealed to members of the public with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect to contact their nearest police station.

Late Daughter "Sends" Text Messages To Grieving Mother

A 58-year-old Chinese miner, Cai Yulong, shot and killed a man from Chief Njelele in Gokwe and injured his colleague after they encroached into his mine in Zhombe, also in Midlands Province.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Cai, from Stone Still Mine 10, Marandure Farm, Zhombe appeared before the Kwekwe Magistrates’ court facing one count of murder, one count of attempted murder and one count of assault. Said the NPA:

On the 26th of May 2024 Goni Goni (23), Komborerai Shariwa (24), John Muchawaya (34) and Lovemore Mapfanya (20) all of Village Tirivanhu, Chief Njelele, Gokwe were working underground at Blackhand 10 Mine, Zhombe, Kwekwe.
The four encroached into another shaft at Blue Belle Mine, Zhombe which is owned by the accused person.
Allegations are that the accused person who was armed with a pistol approached them and shot Goni Goni once in the left thigh. He died on the spot.
He is also alleged to have shot John Muchawaya thrice: once on the left knee, once on the right ankle and once on the left thigh.
Muchawaya sustained three gunshot wounds and he is currently admitted at Kwekwe General Hospital.
Further allegations are that the accused person hit Lovemore Mapfanya once on the head with a fist.
Mapfanya fled from the scene and filed a Police report leading to the arrest of the accused person.

Cai was remanded in custody and will appear in court again on 11 June 2024.

Chinese Miner Kills Gokwe Man, Injures Another In Zhombe

A 27-year-old suspected murder fugitive has been arrested in Chiredzi more than three years since he allegedly killed a Harare man for stealing his cash and clothes.
The suspect, Elton Pardon, allegedly committed the crime with his two friends, Wallen Mupunga and Masimba Makoto, who are now serving life sentences for killing one Tinotenda Mandiyanike.
<a href="https://www.zimlive.com/fugitive-murder-suspect-arrested-at-chiredzi-hide-out-after-3-years-on-the-run/">ZimLive</a> reported that Pardon was arraigned before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi charged with murder.
He was not asked to plead and was remanded to June 4 pending his indictment.
Prosecutor Thomas Chanakira told the court that on 22 May 2021 around midnight, Pardon and his accomplices assaulted Mandiyanike accusing him of having stolen Makoto’s US$400 cash, seven pairs of jean trousers and spanners. He said:

The accused stuffed some cloth in the deceased’s mouth preventing him from shouting for help, and tied his hands and legs using shoelaces.
The trio allegedly severely assaulted Mandiyanike using electric cables, car jumpers, batons, open hands and also kicked him all over his body. He eventually admitted to stealing Makoto’s property.

They allegedly went further to force Mandiyanike to lead them to his residence where they intended to recover the stolen property. Read the court papers:

At around 8 AM, the accused took Mandiyanike into Makoto’s blue Mercedes Benz C180 with registration number ADI 7937 and went to the deceased’s residence where they conducted a search for the stolen property in the presence of the deceased’s sisters Miriam Mangozho and Vivian Mandiyanike but found nothing.
The accused took him back into their motor vehicle and drove off to Sunway City area where they continued assaulting him until he became unconscious.
They then drove to Windsor 24-hour Medical Clinic where they lied to Doctor Blessing Nyamvura that the deceased had been assaulted by a mob after stealing a cell phone.

At the hospital, the doctor checked Mandiyanike’s pulse but could not see any sign of life and he advised the accused to report the case to ZRP Ruwa.
Pardon and his accomplices allegedly drove off and later dumped the deceased’s body in Norton at a 62-kilometre peg along Harare-Bulawayo Road before escaping.
On the same date, the deceased’s body was discovered lying along the road by a certain motorist who then made a police report at ZRP Norton Traffic.
Police attended the scene and ferried the deceased body to Norton Hospital for postmortem.
On 11 August 2021, Makoto was arrested and he implicated Pardon and Mupunga as his accomplices.

Fugitive Murder Suspect Arrested In Chiredzi After 3 Years On The Run

A man from Masvingo was brought before a magistrate this week following a fatal altercation at a bar over beer-sharing.
Tanaka Maringire (26), from Chief Chikwanda area in Masvingo, appeared before the Masvingo Magistrates’ Court on murder charges under Section 47 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act Chapter 9:23.
On May 11, 2024, Maringire was at a bar in Rumwanda Business Centre, Masvingo, accompanied by Jefrees Mukonzi and friends Tichaona Makuvise and Philmon Mugovera.
The now-deceased bought his beer and shared it with the accused person. When the beer was about to be finished he refused to continue sharing which irritated Maringire who proceeded to play pool (snooker).
Tichaona Makuvise touched the snooker table, which infuriated the accused person who poked him with a cue stick.
The now-deceased attempted to de-escalate the situation, which angered Maringire further who then grabbed a board from a broken chair and struck the deceased three times on the forehead.
The injured man staggered out of the bar, complaining of head and arm pain, and then collapsed. Friends helped him up and attempted to take him home.
Unfortunately, he collapsed again a short distance away. Despite efforts to revive him with water, he remained unconscious.
His mother was called, and she rushed him to Chipinda Clinic. He was later transferred to Masvingo Provincial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Maringire has been remanded in custody until May 29, 2024.

Man Fatally Assaulted In Dispute Over Beer-sharing

A police officer based in Chinhoyi was arraigned before the Chinhoyi Magistrates’ Court for murder after he shot and killed a suspect at his home.
The police officer, Talent Mabvuwo (36), was charged with murder as defined in Section 47 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act Chapter 9:23.
The now deceased in this case was identified as Douglas Sivaminyile.
Allegations are that on 09 May 2024, the accused person along with Constable Madhuku and Constable Chireya went to the now-deceased’s home to investigate a crime involving the now deceased.
The now-deceased was suspected of having assaulted someone.
Mabvuwo was armed with a ZRP P1 service pistol loaded with four rounds.
It is alleged that the police officers got into the now deceased’s home and began searching for the deceased.
During the search, Mabvuwo heard some movements coming from the now-deceased’s bedroom whose makeshift zinc door was closed.
He subsequently fired four rounds at the door without warning the now deceased. The bullets went through the door and struck Sivaminyile twice, once on the left side of the chest and once on the right palm and he died instantly.
Mabvuwo was remanded in custody to the 28th of May 2024.
In recent years, Police have been accused of having a “shoot-to-kill policy” following several incidents where police officers were involved in the reckless discharge of firearms.

Police Officer Faces Murder Charge After Fatally Shooting Suspect

A woman from Bikita, Masvingo Province, allegedly forced her three minor children to drink poison before taking her life following a domestic dispute.
According to <a href="https://masvingomirror.com/woman-forces-3-children-to-drink-poison-takes-her-life/">The Mirror</a>, Persistence Mazhe (31) of Duma in Nyika, Bikita took her own life at her rural home in the Zinhata area, Farm 269 in Gutu, after she had an altercation with her husband, on Monday, 06 May.
Mazhe’s husband, Joas Taramusha said she phoned him to inform him that she was travelling to their rural home to commit suicide.
Taramusha said his son aged nine died upon admission at Silveira Mission Hospital while his two siblings aged seven and three were admitted at the hospital.
He said Mazhe bought a pesticide and forced the children to drink before she consumed it as well. Said Taramusha:

I stayed at Nyika Growth Point in Bikita with my family and I argued with my wife. She phoned me yesterday morning and informed me that she was travelling to our rural home in Gutu to commit suicide.
She phoned again after a few hours and told me that she was going to commit suicide. She bought a pesticide and forced the children to drink before she gulped it.
My brother phoned me and informed me that she had forced the children to drink the pesticide. We rushed them to Silveira Mission Hospital. My son died upon admission.
</blockquote>
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson in Masvingo Province, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa could not readily confirm the incident.

Bikita Woman Forces Her 3 Children To Drink Poison, Takes Her Own Life

Two brothers from Gokwe who are beneficiaries of a recent Presidential amnesty were brutally attacked by a mob after they had fatally assaulted their father on April 23, 2024.
According to <a href="https://tellzim.com/presidential-pardon-beneficiaries-kill-father-injured-in-mob-attack/">TellZim News</a>, Evans Mupamhanga (25) and Elvis Mupamhanga (21) both of farm 21, Chemagora area Gokwe South District, fatally assaulted their father before they were also brutally attacked by a mob over past disputes.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, confirmed the mob attack, saying the suspects were in police custody at Gokwe South Hospital.
Inspector Mahoko also said Police have launched a manhunt for the 10-member gang that meted instant justice on the two brothers. He said:

We are appealing for information that may assist in the arrest of the 10-member group which attacked the two brothers and we further appeal to members of the public to respect the sanctity of human life by not engaging in violence as a way of solving disputes.
</blockquote>
It is alleged that Evans and Elvis were recently released from Gokwe prison under the Presidential amnesty where they had been imprisoned for possessing an illegal firearm.
On that fateful day, the suspects were at home with their parents, Kennedy Mupamhanga and Monica Mupamhanga. They disagreed about not filling up the water tank (Jojo tank) at their house.
The two brothers reportedly left their parents’ house after the altercation and proceeded to their father’s young brother, Forever Sikochi’s homestead on the same farm.
They demanded to know why he had not filled up the tank and this resulted in a misunderstanding. The suspects then force-marched Sikochi towards Kwekwe-Gokwe road threatening to kill him.
While on their way, the trio met Kennedy following them and suddenly held him and informed that him they wanted to settle the issue of a firearm which he had previously reported to the police against them.
The duo then escorted both Kennedy (their father) and Sikochi (their uncle) back to the latter’s homestead.
It is alleged that at around 7 PM, Evans instructed Elvis to bring an axe so that they could torture their father over the firearm issue.
On hearing this, Sikochi fled the scene leaving behind his brother Kennedy in the hands of his two sons.
The suspects took turns to strike their father using an axe and stones several times on the head until he died.
After killing their father, the two brothers went to Job Mupamhanga’s (76) home to inform him of the murder they had committed.
As they were explaining to Job what they had done to their father, a gang of about 10 unknown people entered the house armed with axes, machetes and knobkerries.
The mob attacked the two brothers over a previous dispute, striking them all over their bodies until they became unconscious after which the assailants vanished to an unknown destination.
Sikochi later on returned in the company of police officers and found his brother already dead. After a few minutes, he received a call from his father, Job informing him of what had transpired at his homestead.
The police proceeded to Job’s homestead where they found both Evans and Elvis badly injured. The two were rushed to Gokwe South District Hospital where they are in police custody and are both in serious condition. The deceased’s body was taken to the same hospital.
