ZANU PF-aligned pastor Obadiah Musindo of the Destiny for Africa Network said Passion Java has no one to blame but himself after his much-hyped event, the “Night of Wonders” flopped.
Java, who is also a ZANU PF loyalist, had boasted that he would fill up the venue, the National Sports Stadium, vowing to quit preaching if he failed.
However, there was a poor turnout, forcing Java to prematurely end the gathering to avoid further embarrassment.
His followers claimed that he was sabotaged by fellow pastors who didn’t want the event to succeed.
But speaking to <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200026968/why-java-night-of-wonders-flopped">NewsDay</a>, Musindo said various organisations had mobilised people to attend the event but Java failed to avail buses to ferry them to the National Sports Stadium. He said:

Passion should not blame anyone, be it other prophets or bishops. No one sabotaged him except his team. Except, I repeat, his team.
People are so bitter because they took their time. They did everything to mobilise people, only to be disappointed by failing to get transport.
And lastly, for example, on my side, he promised to hire buses for us.
There are different organisations, but I can’t speak for them as some of them came to me crying saying they were asked to hire buses, but the money never came.
Past five (5 pm), when the event was starting, that was the time that some money was released for us to hire buses.
Who was going to wait for Passion until midnight? Who in his sane mind was going to wait for Passion until late?

Java is among a group of pastors who subscribe to the prosperity gospel which gained prominence in Zimbabwe and other parts of Africa, particularly Nigeria in the past few decades.
The prosperity gospel is a form of Pentecostalism that emphasises material wealth, health, and success as signs of God’s favour.
In Zimbabwe, proponents of the prosperity gospel claim to have the power to perform miraculous financial blessings sometimes referred to as “miracle money.”
Some Evangelical theologians consider it a serious heresy and a deception for many Christians arguing it can be misleading and distort fundamental Christian tenets.
Critics say that by focusing on supernatural wealth and blessings, prosperity preachers may divert attention from addressing tangible issues causing suffering, such as corruption.

ZANU PF-aligned Pastor Explains Why Passion Java's “Night of Wonders” Flopped

Rev. Obadiah Musindo, the leader of Destiny for Africa Network, recently revealed that he paid lobola for his 23-year-old lover last Saturday.
Musindo, who is 54 years old, also shared his plans for a historic wedding with his sweetheart, Aysha Tagara, before the end of the year. He told <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/rev-musindo-pays-lobola-for-his-23-year-old-lover/">H-Metro</a>:

Yes, I paid lobola according to custom and I have plans for a massive, historic wedding before the end of this year.
For those who want to know my exact age, a wedding certificate will not lie.
Every detail will be taken from our birth certificates. What is important to me is that we love each other and we have settled.

In December 2023, Musindo confirmed that he got engaged to his then-22-year-old girlfriend.
He was responding to viral images of him on one knee before his girlfriend.
Several individuals who commented on the photo via social media placed significant emphasis on the age disparity between Musindo and his lover. Musindo said at the time:

I engaged. In other words, we engaged with my sweetheart. a 22-year-old, mature, responsible, Godfearing, intelligent, smart and beautiful young girl who is going to be Mai Musindo and many people shall see her.
She is going to be my life partner. We are marrying in 2024. We are going to have one of the best, big, unique weddings in Harare and many people will be invited and many journalists will also be invited.
It will be a special wedding because I’m going to use my wedding and my marriage as an example of what a marriage should be according to the word of God.
I was a divorcee since 2010 and I have been waiting for my children to grow up and begin to understand issues.
For your information, my kids are in love with my wife-to-be. They are friends. She has a good heart like me. She is a giver. She is generous.

Musindo also denied claims that he was 70 years old, insisting that he was 53. He said:

I’m following my heart and those who are criticising, ‘Hee she’s young. Here she’s this. Obediah is 70’.
I’m not 70 years old. I’m turning 54 next year on the 25th of March. I was born in 1970 25th of March.
Currently, I’m 53, but I tell you the truth, this is what I get from people everywhere I go I look ten years younger, 10 years younger.

Traditionally, in Zimbabwe, a significant age gap between spouses was not an issue, with the husband typically being older than the wife.
However, in recent years, the significance of age difference in marriages has become less rigid and some people now emphasise factors such as compatibility, love, and shared values rather than solely considering age.
Meanwhile, Musindo was arrested in 2006 for allegedly raping his maid on five occasions in 2004. He denied the charges.

ZANU PF-aligned cleric Obadiah Musindo, who is the founder of Destiny for Africa Network, has confirmed that he got engaged to his 22-year-old girlfriend last Thursday.
Speaking to H-Metro, Musindo addressed the viral images of him on one knee before his girlfriend.
Some of the people who commented on the photo on social media focused more on the age difference between Musindo and his lover.
Commentators said it was immoral for Musindo, (allegedly 70, a claim he dismissed as false), to be romantically involved with someone old enough to be his granddaughter.
Musindo said he was planning to marry the unnamed woman in 2024. He said:

Obadiah Musindo Defends Engagement To 22-year-old Woman

Destiny of Africa Network (DANet) founder and Zanu PF-aligned cleric, Obadiah Msindo has said that elderly should not emulate the poor example of former President Robert Mugabe. Handing out food hampers to the elderly in Epworth, Msindo said,
<blockquote>Mugabe is a very bad example for the elderly and you should not emulate him. What he did at White City Stadium in Bulawayo last year when he threatened to fire the now current President led to his demise. That was a very bad example of elderliness and I urge all of you not to provoke outrage but promote peace and oneness.
Many elderly people registered to vote and we are encouraging you to go and vote. You must be given a chance to decide on a President who spearheads your interests and improves your welfare.</blockquote>

You Should Not Emulate Mugabe: Msindo Warns The Elderly

Destiny of Africa Network (DAnet), a pro-Zanu PF non-governmental organisation led by Obadiah Musindo has said that it will give out at least 100 cars to different church leaders on a loan scheme. According to Msindo, 10 vehicles have already been distributed to pastors drawn from various churches already. Said Musindo,
<blockquote>I do not have the money, but I have sourced funding to provide our church leaders with vehicles so that they can be able to reach their members easily. Just like the housing projects, the scheme is a loan facility with favourable terms that our church leaders — especially those in rural areas — can afford.
This is part of our efforts to support government initiatives to empower our people.</blockquote>
