OK Supermarkets has announced it will suspend the historic OK Grand Challenge Jackpot Promotion,  because of the COVID-19 pandemic which has affected many operations and prompted the government to impose a cocktail of containment measures in a bid to try and curb spreading it, The Herald reports.
This was revealed by OK as they were giving a trading update in a statement that said:
<blockquote>Unfortunately, this year we could not run our biggest annual promotion, the OK Grand Challenge Jackpot Promotion, because of disruptions caused by Covid-19.</blockquote>
In the same update, OK said their shops are adequately stocked and their sales for the period ending 30 June 2020 have declined by 32% compared to the same period in 2019.

OK Suspends 2020 Grand Challenge Due To COVID-19

One of the country’s largest retail promotions, the OK Grand Challenge, is only giving away one car this year. This is down from over 15 cars in the 2018 edition of the promotion.
Zimbabwe has been hit by hyperinflation the past several months with the rate of the USD against the RTGS$ falling by more than 100%. Most companies lack the foreign currency to import products s there has also been a biting forex crisis.

Only 1 Car At This Year's OK Grand Challenge

Many cringed when a man won 3 cars at the Ok Grand Challenge last year. Many said many things that we can’t say today or ever. While it may have looked like he did something out of the ordinary to win all those cars, the only thing he did, in my opinion, is smart shopping. When I say smart shopping I mean shopping with the competition in mind.
<h3>Smart Shopping!</h3>
When I say smart shopping I mean shopping while calculating your winning odds. When we go to any OK outlet we usually have a list of the things we want to buy. Most participating brands sell basic goods that almost everyone buys. This simply means, most people are buying almost the same goods, therefore, dwindling your chances of winning by each purchase.
So if you want to increase your chances of winning, you have to start using things from least popular brands. This means <a href="https://www.okgrandchallenge.co.zw/#/">you do a quick research on all participating brands on the OK website</a>.  and get to know every participating brand. Rank them with the popularity, those huge popular brands that everyone buys to the least popular ones. If you have been buying milk from the most popular brand, you may also want to start buying from the least popular participating brand. this means you get to put your vouchers in a box/box that has few chancers.
<h3>Smart Product Selection!!</h3>
Now that you know all participating brands and their popularity from your little (grand challenge mission) research. next, go instore and ask the specific products for the brands that are participating. It may be possible that the products you want to buy are not participating or like we said above they are being used by everyone so your chances of winning are very small. How does 1 in 10 000 sound? This means a popular product by a popular brand will have many takers, a popular product by the least popular brand will have average takers, a least popular product by a popular brand will also have few takers but the brand is popular so other products will override your voucher as many people will buy other products from that particular brand.
There is no need for you to buy things you may not want thinking you will increase your chances because the products have few takers. Product selection is dependent again on the brand that you will buy from. no need to buy washing soap you will never use because you think are increasing your chances of winning. Infact buy that washing powder from that participating brand you don’t usually buy and put your voucher in a bin/box with few chancers. how does 1 in a 1000 odds sound?

This can be done in 2 ways. 1 by buying more even from popular brands, buy more and get more vouchers and increase your odds from say 1 in 10k to probably 45 in 10k or 100 in 10k. 2 spreading the purchases across different brands. If there are 50 suppliers participating, having your vouchers in all 50 participation boxes will increase your odds from 1 in say 10k to 50 in 10k.
Ultimately the competition is left to chance and tide on that day. These tips will simply help you with the odds of your voucher being picked in the end.

Clemence Muhle of Rusape went back home a very happy man after winning 3 cars at the 2018 OK Grand Challenge draw on Saturday. Muhle revealed that he has now won 7 cars in supermarket promotions and attributed this to his faith and prayerful life. He said that he will invest some of the money realised from selling the cars, while the remainder will be used to buy from shops which are running competitions.  Speaking to New Zimbabwe, Muhle said,
<blockquote>I am very happy and excited for the God granted opportunity to divinely scoop the three cars. Unbelievable, but it’s a wonderful reality. Will sell them to invest, but the remainder will be used in buying in shops that have promotions only so that I continue to try my luck.</blockquote>
