<p>At least 30 people are dead following an attack by the Sudanese security forces on a protest camp in the capital on Monday.</p>
<p>Reports suggest that the security forces opened fire, torched tents and killed people to clear away the months-old sit-in. Civilians were demanding the military to hand over power to a group of civilian political parties.</p>
<p>Videos posted on social media present civilians running through smoke-filled streets lined with sit-in tents, their heads down, as the sound of gunfire filled the air.</p>
<p>Azza al-Kamel, a doctor at the Royal Care hospital near the sit-in area outside the military headquarters in the capital, Khartoum said:</p>
<blockquote><p>Wounded people are lying on the ground the reception area as there are not enough beds.</p></blockquote>
<p>Forces for Declaration of Freedom and Change, which represents the protesters in negotiations with the military suggests that at least 200 people were wounded. The security forces are reported to have had seized control of almost the entire camp by midday.</p>

UPDATE: Death Toll Continues To Rise As Sudanese Military Attacks Protesting Civilians

<p>Sudanese military leaders have agreed on a 3-year transitional authority with the opposition alliance.</p>
<p>Lt Gen Yasser al-Atta speaking at a joint news conference said a final agreement on power-sharing would be signed with the opposition alliance (DFCF) within 24 hours. That would include the forming of a sovereign council which will rule the country until elections.</p>
<p>He added that the opposition alliance would have two-thirds of the seats on a 300-member transitional legislative council while the rest would be taken by parties not part of the alliance.</p>

<p>Speaking to the BBC Newsday programme, Sadiq Yousuf, a member of the DFCF negotiating team said that the composition of the 11-member supreme council was still being discussed. He said:</p>
<blockquote><p>The issue has been on the number of members of the supreme council. We want eight civilians, three from the military, but they want seven military and four members.</p></blockquote>

<p>The military took over following the ouster of President Omar Al Bashir. Protestors have been demanding civilian rule since then.</p>

SUDAN CRISIS: Military And Opposition Agree On A 3yr Power Sharing Deal

<p>Three generals in Sudan’s ruling Transitional Military Council have offered their resignations. The trio is considered to be avowed Islamists and allies of former President Omar al-Bashir.</p>
<p>Protest leaders had demanded the resignation of the generals as one of their key demands. Speaking to the BBC, Dr Sara Abdelgalil, of the Sudanese Professionals Association, the main group behind the protests said:</p>
<blockquote><p>What we are hoping to do today is to continue our peaceful resistance. Regime members and the NCP [the ousted president’s party] are trying to show themselves as being legitimate to continue ruling the transitional period.</p></blockquote>
<p>The three generals who have offered to resign are Omar Zain al-Abideen, Jalal al-Deen al-Sheikh and Al-Tayeb Babakr Ali Fadeel.</p>

3 Sudanese Generals Resign After Pressure From Protestors

<p>Ousted Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir has been transferred to the Kobar maximum security prison in the capital Khartoum where he is being held in solitary confinement, reports claim.</p>
<p>According to Al Jazeera News, Kobar prison was built by the British during the colonial period and is located on the east bank of the Blue Nile in a northern district of the capital where al-Bashir grew up.</p>
<p>The prison has a special wing for political prisoners where several opposition leaders and activists were held during the four months of protests which led to al-Bashir’s overthrow.</p>
<p>However, there are conflicting reports on Al Bashir’s whereabouts as the TMC has not confirmed that he is at Kobar. Al Jazeera’s correspondent reporting from Khartoum had this to say:</p>
<blockquote><p>They said al-Bashir was being held in a safe place under house arrest until he is taken to court.</p>
<p>The protesters who are conducting a sit-in at the defence ministry in the capital say that they will not end their action until they see al-Bashir in court to be held to account for crimes committed when in power.</p>
<p>They’re also saying they will not end their sit-in if the government does not hand over power to an independent civilian government.</p></blockquote>
<p>Al-Bashir was last week pushed out of office Mugabe-style by the country’s military after months of relentless protests by the country’s citizens.</p>
<p>Since the coup, Sudan has been under the administration of the Transitional Military Council (TMC).</p>
<p>The TMC initially announced that it will rule the country for two years but they move was opposed by protestors.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the African Union has demanded that the Sudanese military hand over power to civilian authorities within 15 days.</p>
