South African-based Warriors players Onismor Bhasera and George Chigova have implored the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) to consider the futures of young Zimbabwean footballers and ensure that the FIFA ban on the country is lifted.
FIFA suspended Zimbabwe from international football over a year ago after the SRC, a government body, suspended the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) board on allegations of corruption, mismanagement of funds, and sexual harassment.
FIFA says SRC should reinstate the Felton Kamambo-led ZIFA board for Zimbabwe to participate in international football tournaments again.
Speaking in an interview with FARPost, Bhasera, who plays for SuperSport United, said football authorities seem not to care about the future of Zimbabwean footballers. Said Bhasera:

I’ve been following the events back home. It’s unfortunate that no one is considering the future of these footballers.
Some of us already made the break, but there are many still waiting for that breakthrough. Those ones have mainly been disadvantaged by the suspension.
We have been deprived at the continental and regional levels. It’s unfortunate that even player movements have slowed down since these events.
It’s the players that have suffered the most while the high offices are in an argument.
We can only wait for common ground to be reached for the sake of progress.
For the sake of our future, there must be an amicable resolution. We can’t remain stagnant in one position like this. Like other nations, we must progress.

Goalkeeper George Chigova, who also plays for SuperSport United, contends that Zimbabwe’s suspension by FIFA means that local footballers have no international platform on which to showcase their talents. Said Chigova:

I got an opportunity to play in South Africa after impressing during the 2013 Chan finals.
So, with the country suspended, it means no one is in a position to showcase themselves.
Many of us here in South Africa came via these tournaments. It’s the only possible breakthrough that footballers back home are waiting for.
Unfortunately, under these circumstances. It’s very hard to get such opportunities.
The future of Zimbabwean football is seriously under threat.

Warriors Duo Urge SRC And ZIFA To Let "Let Bygones Be Bygones"

Warriors left-back Onismor Bhasera says he is targetting silverware with SuperSport in the current 2022-23 South African DStv Premiership season.
The 36-year-old Zimbabwean, who was appointed club captain at the start of this season, told <a href="https://www.manicapost.co.zw/bhaseras-supersport-utd-dream/">The Manica Post</a> that they are targetting the premiership title as well as the Nedbank Cup title.
Despite being knocked out of the  MTN 8 Cup in the quarter-finals by Mamelodi Sundowns, Bhasera believes SuperSport can still reach set targets. He said:

We have started the league marathon on a positive note and are enjoying the moment. Everyone at the club wants to keep that momentum going throughout the campaign and be crowned champions in every competition that we contest.
SuperSport United is a big team and fighting for top honours is part of the ethos that defines this club’s culture.
Our form so far has been good and it challenges us to continue performing well. We believe that we can achieve our goals for this season if we continue working hard.
As the captain, I feel a huge responsibility placed on my shoulders to lead by example and encourage the boys to fight on.

Bhasera has been at the Pretoria-based club for the past six years after his switch from Bidvest Wits in July 2016 when they disbanded.
Meanwhile, the DStv premiership is currently on a month-long break necessitated by the 2022 FIFA World Cup finals.
Matsatsantsa are in third position with 21 points behind defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns (28 points) and promoted surprise package, Richards Bay (23 points).

Warriors left-back Onismor Bhasera has been appointed SuperSport United’s new captain ahead of the 2022/23 season.
SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt gave the armband to the 36-year-old Zimbabwean following the departure of Ronwen Williams to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Speaking to the media at the DStv Premiership launch in Randburg, Johannesburg, on Thursday, Hunt said Bhasera was democratically voted the new club captain. Said, Hunt:

Bash will be the captain this season. He has the experience, he is a great professional. He is a leader and I think he will take the role. I think he will take this role well. 
It’s important for someone to come in and be verbal and keep standards as high as possible, which is not only on the field but off the field.
I am sure Bash will do well. He has my full support. I chose him. It was a democratic vote. It was me.

Bhasera said he welcomed the responsibility and spoke about how the loss of Williams is a big one for the club. He said:
<blockquote>
It (being captain) is a big responsibility. SuperSport is a big club, but I’ve got to take it with both hands and I will obviously have to go out there and lead by example.
I need to bring my A-game, so it’s going to be an interesting season.
Ronwen served the club well and it’s a big loss, but it’s a big opportunity for someone else who is going to come in and fill those shoes.
He (Williams) is gone, but that’s football. Players are always moving around. We wish him luck at his new club.

Onismor Bhasera Appointed As New SuperSport United Captain

Warriors defender Onismor Bhasera is set to continue his stay at SuperSport United with yet another extension in the pipeline.
The 35-year-old Zimbabwean international has been at Matsansansa for the past five years, playing 124 games and providing all his experience playing at left-back.
His representative Steve Kapeluschnik has confirmed to KickOff.com that talks are in progress with regards to an extension to the contract he signed last year. He said:
<blockquote>I am talking to SuperSport about an extension for Bhasera because his contract has expired.</blockquote>
Bhasera arrived in South Africa back in 2005 to join Tembisa Classic from Harare United.
Classic’s status was bought by Maritzburg United that same year he arrived and he stayed at the club for two years until he left for Kaizer Chiefs.
At Chiefs, he stayed for two years again before an ugly separation as he sought to move to Europe, where he ultimately played for English lower division club Plymouth Argyle.
Since his return to the PSL in 2013, Bhasera has played for Bidvest Wits before switching to Matsatsantsa, where he is now the oldest member of the playing squad.

Bhasera To Sign New Deal With Supersport

Zimbabwean international footballer, Onismor Bhasera who plays for the South African DSTV League team, SuperSport United paid for his own ticket to join the rest of the Warriors in Botswana.
The left-back was drafted into the team as a last-minute addition as there was no natural left-back in Zdravko Logarusic’s side following the withdrawal of Golden Arrows’ Divine Lunga due to injury.
Sources in the Warriors camp report that an air ticket from Johannesburg to Francistown was bought for the Mutare-bred defender but it had issues.
Bhasera then bought his own ticket thereby earning praise from the Warriors gaffer Logarusic who is better known as Loga. Said the coach:
<blockquote>He had problems with the ticket that had been bought for him but he didn’t lament about that, he just took his own money and bought a new ticket. This is the commitment that I want in the players and I will reward such players.
When I called Bhasera, the players came to me and said thank you coach. He is a player with so much influence in the team and will keep him going forward.</blockquote>
Bhasera was then picked up at the OR Tambo International Airport in South Africa before the team flew directly to Francistown from Johannesburg.
The Warriors went on to beat Botswana 1-0 the following day in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier match.

Warriors full-back Onismor Bhasera has reportedly been offered a one-year contract by his South African side SuperSport United.
South African soccer website Soccer Laduma reports that Supersport’s CEO, Stan Matthews has confirmed that Bhasera has signed a contract extension with the club as a reward for his performances under coach Kaitano Tembo. Said, Matthews:
<blockquote>Yes, we’ve given Bhasera a new one-year deal as a result of the way that he’s played for the club this season and the continued professionalism and impeccable attitude that he has displayed since joining us.
We’re very happy that he’ll still be with us next season. He’s the sort of person we want to be part of this club.</blockquote>
The 32-year-old former Kaizer Chiefs and Bidvest Wits man joined SuperSport ahead of the 2016/17 campaign and has come back with a bang this year after battling with injuries last time out.
