Fugitive Gweru car dealer Peter Dube who facing two murder charges, and two attempted murder charges appeared before Gweru provincial magistrate Beaulity Dube virtually for further remand.
Dube followed proceedings from Whawha Prison Complex, which is situated 23km outside Gweru along Mvuma Road.
He has been remanded in custody to May 2 but could apply for bail at the High Court.
According to the <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/double-murder-gweru-businessman-peter-dube-further-remanded/">Chronicle</a>, since February this year, persons accused of murder such as Dube are no longer brought to court.
In his warned and cautioned statement, Dube denied all the allegations after advice from his legal practitioner of choice, Tuso Maputsenyika of Mhaka Attorneys.
Dube allegedly shot dead his wife’s suspected lover Shelton Chiduku of Kwekwe and his wife’s best friend Gamuchirai Mudungwe.
He is also turning his gun on his wife Nyasha and her sister Nyaradzo, who both survived the shooting.
Prosecutor, Hellen Khoza said on April 22, 2021, at around 11 AM, Chiduku, Mudungwe, Nyasha and Nyaradzo allegedly went to Masvingo to collect the latter’s passport.
Dube, suspecting infidelity between Nyasha and Chiduku, was displeased when he learned that the four had gone to Masvingo without his knowledge. Said Khoza:

At around 8 PM on the same day, the accused allegedly armed himself with a Zastara pistol and proceeded to number 11, Bensam Flats, Main Street, Gweru where Nyasha resided.

There was an altercation at the flats since Dube suspected Nyasha of having an affair with Chiduku. Dube went downstairs and shot Chiduku, who was in the driver’s seat of a Toyota Hiace, once on the front left shoulder and he died instantly.
It is further alleged that Mudungwe, who was downstairs with Chiduku, tried to run up the stairs, but Dube shot her once on the left cheek and she died on the spot.
After allegedly killing Chiduku and Mudungwe, Dube went upstairs to where Nyasha and Nyaradzo were.
The court heard that Dube allegedly shot Nyasha once on the right cheek and the bullet protruded to the left side of her neck, removed her right molar tooth and landed on the upper side of her shoulder. Said Khoza:

After shooting Nyasha, the accused allegedly turned on Nyaradzo, shooting her once above the left ear, and the bullet protruded through and raptured her right eye.
</blockquote>
Nyasha and Nyaradzo survived the shooting and were taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital where surgeons successfully operated on them.
After the incident, Dube allegedly fled to South Africa, before going to Eswatini where he fraudulently acquired an identity document and passport.
While in Eswatini, Peter Dube changed his identity and assumed the name Xolile Mtsali.
It is alleged that Dube later flew to Ireland where he was arrested in Dublin in 2023 for violating that country’s immigration laws.
Dube was allegedly using a fake identity when he was arrested in Dublin.
He refused to be deported to Zimbabwe claiming that he was a Mozambican citizen named Armando Quenete Muchanga.
Dube was then deported to Mozambique and authorities there established that he was Zimbabwean and deported him on Wednesday, April 03.

Double Murder-accused Gweru Car Dealer Peter Dube Further Remanded

Fugitive Gweru car dealer Peter Dube, who was on the run after he allegedly shot four people, two of them fatally, appeared in court on Thursday, April 04, and was remanded in custody to April 17.
Dube had been on the run for nearly three years after allegedly gunning down his second wife’s alleged boyfriend Shelton Chiduku of Kwekwe and his wife’s best friend Gamuchirai Mudungwe. He is said to have also shot and injured his second wife Nyasha Nharingo and her sister Nyaradzo Nharingo in a suspected love triangle.
He appeared before Gweru provincial magistrate Beauty Dube who remanded him in custody pending the completion of investigations.
As reported by <a href="https://www.sundaynews.co.zw/fugitive-gweru-businessman-peter-dube-faces-justice-after-three-year-manhunt-following-deadly-love-triangle-shooting/">The Sunday News</a>, in his warned and cautioned statement, Dube, who was represented by Tuso Maputsenyika of Mhaka Attorneys, denied all the charges.
The magistrate advised Dube to apply to the High Court for bail. She ruled:

Gweru Businessman, Peter Dube, Accused Of Murder & Attempted Murder Denies All Charges

Peter Dube, a 40-year-old Gweru car dealer who was deported from Mozambique on Wednesday, 03 April, appeared before the Gweru Magistrates Court today.
The charges against Dube are nothing short of horrifying: two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
Dube allegedly shot and killed Shelton Chiduku and Gamuchirai Mudungwe who was his second wife’s friend.
He is also alleged to have shot his second wife Nyasha Nharingo and her sister Nyaradzo Nharingo who both survived.
On April 22, 2022, the quiet corridors of Bensam Flats, nestled along Main Street in Gweru, witnessed a series of events that would forever scar the lives of those involved.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the first victim, Shelton Chiduku, met his untimely demise when the accused person allegedly aimed a Zastara pistol at his left shoulder.
Dube shot Shelton Chiduku after accusing him of having an affair with his second wife, Nyasha Nharingo.
Next in line was Gamuchirai Mudungwe, who suffered a single gunshot wound to her left cheek. The impact was fatal, and she, too, succumbed to the violence.
Nyasha Nharingo, the accused’s second wife, bore the brunt of the assailant’s rage. A bullet tore through her right cheek, its trajectory winding through her neck. It dislodged a molar tooth and came to rest in her upper shoulder. Miraculously, Nyasha survived the attack and was rushed to Gweru Provincial Hospital for urgent medical attention.
The accused person’s sister-in-law, Nyaradzo Nharingo, suffered a cruel fate. She suffered a single gunshot above her left ear and the bullet tore through her eye, leaving her partially blinded.
Nyaradzo, too, was transported to Gweru General Hospital, where she was treated and discharged.
The court has remanded Peter Dube in custody until April 17, 2024.
NB: Contrary to earlier media reports, both Nharingo sisters survived the shooting; initial claims of one sister’s death were inaccurate.

Peter Dube Makes Initial Court Appearence, Faces 2 Counts Of Murder And 2 Counts Of Attempted Murder

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) says Peter Dube, a suspect in a murder and attempted murder case, has been deported from Mozambique due to possession of fraudulent national identity and passport documents.
Dube had previously been convicted of violating immigration laws in Ireland in 2022. Subsequently, he was deported to Mozambique after falsely claiming to be a citizen of that country.
He had assumed another alias — Armando Quenete Muchanga after he allegedly fraudulently acquired a Mozambican passport.
According to a ZRP statement, a team of detectives will receive Dube at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport this Wednesday, just after 2 PM. Police said:

The ZRP confirms that murder and attempted murder suspect, Peter Dube has been deported from Mozambique because of fake national identity and passport documents. A team of ZRP detectives will receive him at 1405 hours at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.

Dube was wanted by the ZRP for shooting and killing three people and injuring another in Gweru on 23 April 2021.
Allegations are that on 23 April 2021, Dube, who was a car dealer, shot and killed his second wife, Nyasha Nharingo’s suspected lover Shelton Chinhango – also a car dealer.
Chinhango was shot dead in cold blood while seated in a minibus parked outside a flat in Gweru’s central business district, where Nyasha lived.
After shooting Chinhango, Dube turned the gun on his second wife’s best friend, Gamuchirai Mudungwe, whom he also shot and killed.
Dube allegedly went on to shoot Nyasha and her sister Nyaradzo, and the latter died in hospital.
After the shootings, Dube reportedly fled to South Africa, before relocating to Eswatini, where he changed his identity to Xolile Mtsali.
From Eswatini, he travelled to Ireland, where he sought asylum but was arrested on 14 June after he was exposed by Zimbabwean media.
Dube was arrested at a refugee facility in Dublin, before being convicted by the Dublin District Court for violating that country’s immigration laws.
During his court appearance, Dube allegedly claimed to be a Mozambican and produced his passport as proof of his nationality.

Suspected murderer Peter Dube has been arrested in Mozambique and is set to be extradited to Zimbabwe after two years on the run.
Dube was recently convicted in Ireland of violating immigration laws before being deported to Mozambique after he claimed to be a citizen of that country.
He had assumed another alias — Armando Quenete Muchanga after he allegedly fraudulently acquired a Mozambican passport.
Dube is wanted by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) for shooting and killing three people and injuring another in Gweru on 23 April 2021.
He is currently in the custody of Mozambican authorities pending investigations into how he acquired the Mozambican passport.
ZRP spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the latest development to <a href="https://www.sundaymail.co.zw/end-of-the-road-for-fugitive-killer-dube">The Sunday Mail</a>. He said:

He was using a passport with the name Armando Quenete Muchanga with the date of birth of June 21, 1985. He is currently in custody pending further investigations.
He will also undergo due court processes that will allow his extradition back into the country.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet on Wednesday, 04 October, considered and approved Zimbabwe’s Accession to the SADC Protocol on Extradition.
Article 2 of the SADC Protocol on Extradition says:

Each State Party agrees to extradite to the other, in accordance with the provisions of this Protocol and their respective domestic law, any person within its jurisdiction who is wanted for prosecution or the imposition or enforcement of a sentence in the Requesting State for an extraditable offence.

Recently, Asst Comm Nyathi said that the ZRP had engaged Interpol to have Dube extradited back into the country from Mozambique.

The Sunday Mail reported sources as saying during his court appearance, Dube claimed to be a Mozambican and produced his passport as proof of his nationality. Said a source:

He enjoyed the benefit of doubt, as the Zimbabwe authorities took long to prove that Dube was a Zimbabwean.
When the documentation was later delivered to the Irish authorities, it was too late as Dube had already been deported to Mozambique.
The warrant of arrest request that was issued by Zimbabwe was then overtaken by events, as there was a need to prove that Dube was a Zimbabwean national before he could be repatriated back to Zimbabwe.
He then took advantage of the red tape in processing the documents and claimed to be Mozambican, since he also had some identification particulars of that country.
