A police officer from Buhera, Cuthbert Mupfuki, was sentenced to 15 years in prison by the High Court after brutally murdering his wife, Brenda Manyara, with an Okapi knife. The attack occurred amid rumours that she was seeing another man, reported <a href="https://www.manicapost.co.zw/police-officer-kills-wife-over-infidelity-rumours/">The Manica Post</a>.
Mupfuki, 37, from Nechiwowe Village in Chief Nyashanu, was found guilty of murder under Section 47(1) (a) or (b) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23. At the time of the crime, he was a member of the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s Support Unit, Sierra Troop, in Changadzi.
During sentencing, Mutare High Court Judge Justice Isaac Muzenda said he considered that Mupfuki had paid 30 head of cattle as reparation to the deceased’s family.
The court heard that on October 10 2023, Mupfuki stabbed Manyara multiple times, resulting in her death at the scene. A post-mortem conducted by Dr Elisha Murasiranwa at Birchenough Bridge Hospital determined that respiratory failure due to trauma was the cause of death.
Witness Constance Gwemba, a niece of the victim, testified that she was at Mupfuki’s home with Manyara and other family members when Mupfuki invited Manyara to their bedroom.
Shortly after, Gwemba heard screams for help but found the door locked. Peering through a window, she saw Mupfuki pressing Manyara against the wall while accusing her of wanting to degrade him by dating a local villager, Joseph Murwisi.
Mupfuki later dragged Manyara’s body to the passage and opened the door, walking away while declaring it was better for him to be in prison than with a “cheating” wife. Gwemba discovered Manyara lying on the floor, bleeding profusely from her chest and with a deep cut on her left hand.
At around 9 PM that evening, Mupfuki called villager Chipo Madidi, instructing her to gather everyone at the homestead. When he returned, he stated that he knew why he had killed Manyara.
Another witness, Mupfuki’s daughter Barbra, recounted hearing her mother being beaten and later witnessing her father emerge, claiming he would turn himself in to the police.
Madidi testified that when she arrived at the scene, she found Manyara’s lifeless body in the sitting room. Mupfuki admitted over the phone that he had killed Manyara due to her supposed affair with Joseph Murwisi.
Murwisi himself testified that on the evening of the incident, he was attacked by Mupfuki while cycling home.
Mupfuki struck him with a log, causing him to fall. Despite his injuries, Murwisi managed to escape, leaving his bicycle and groceries behind.
After the attack, Murwisi heard people crying at Mupfuki’s home; he sustained bruises and a swollen arm from the assault.

Police Officer Gets 15 Years For Killing Wife In Jealous Rage

A police officer was injured when his vehicle, a Honda Fit, was hit by a train while attempting to pass a level crossing near Mabvuku, Harare on Wednesday.
The National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) on Thursday said that the police officer attempted to beat the train to the crossing point, resulting in the collision which left his car, badly damaged. Said NRZ:

A policeman was injured after his car was hit by a train while attempting to pass a level crossing near Mabvuku, Harare yesterday.
Indications are that he attempted to beat the train to the crossing point, resulting in the collision which left his car, a Honda Fit, badly damaged.

The NRZ reiterated its appeal for all road users to stop at all level crossings and only proceed after establishing that there is no train approaching.

A policeman's Honda Fit was hit by a train at a level crossing in Harare. The policeman tried to beat the train and got hurt. The car was badly damaged. The National Railways of Zimbabwe warned everyone to stop at level crossings and make sure no train is coming before crossing. It is important to be safe around trains.

A Ruwa Local Board Municipal Police Officer, Lucia Sithole (44), was arrested on Friday, September 27, by members of the Southern Africa Regional Anti-Corruption Organisation (SARACO) for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe from a commuter omnibus driver.
According to a memo addressed to the SARACO Chief Corruption Prevention Intelligence Officer by an Assistant Deputy Director of Operations, Sithole now faces charges of criminal abuse of office as defined by Section 174 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23].
The allegations are that on September 27, 2024, at approximately 8:20 AM, Sithole and two other municipal police officers were on duty conducting traffic enforcement along the Harare-Mutare highway near the George shopping Centre in Ruwa. Reads the memo:

A Nissan Caravan commuter omnibus registration No AFE 7538 travelling from Harare to Goromonzi stopped at the market Bus stop along the highway and suddenly a municipal traffic officer emerged and placed a steel bar in the wheel of the commuter omnibus.
</blockquote>
All passengers were ordered to disembark and three municipal police officers jumped inside and ordered the driver to proceed to their council yard. As this was happening the other male officer was writing a fine ticket.
It is alleged that the driver of the kombi and the three municipal police officers left for the council yard, and along the way just near the shops, Sithole asked for twenty dollars from the driver.
The driver said that he had US$10 but she rejected it and insisted on $20.
After the driver gave her two US$10 notes, Sithole then instructed him to make a U-turn and drop them off immediately. Reads the memo:

The driver drove back to where he had dropped his passengers and advised the three Southern Africa Regional Anti Corruption Organisation members who had earlier on introduced themselves to him before boarding the commuter omnibus at Fourth Street.
</blockquote>
The three members of SARACO contacted their female counterpart nearby and approached the municipal police officers.
They requested that the officers empty their pockets of all cash, but Sithole refused to comply.
Subsequently, the SARACO members searched her and discovered US$45 in her shirt pockets. Two of the US$10 bills matched the photographs taken by the kombi conductor before the money was handed over to the driver.
Sithole was then arrested and taken to Ruwa Police Station, where Chief Inspector Tinarwo was informed.
A docket was opened for violating Section 174 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, registered under ZRP Ruwa RRB number 6160549.

A police officer in Ruwa was caught taking a bribe from a driver by SARACO. The officer, Lucia Sithole, along with two others, stopped a commuter omnibus and demanded money. The driver gave them US$20, but they asked for more. SARACO members intervened and found the money on Sithole. She was arrested and charges were filed against her. The incident happened on the Harare-Mutare highway. Being caught taking bribes is against the law.

Ruwa Municipal Police Officer Caught In Bribery Sting By SARACO

Mitch Tafirenyika, a member of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), recently appeared before the High Court in Gweru facing serious murder charges. 
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), at the time of the incident, Tafirenyika was just 28 years old.
He was part of a specialised police unit assigned to apprehend two armed robbery suspects, Tichaona Muzhanduki and Doubt Munsaka, at Radway Farm.
Upon arriving at the farm, the team of officers divided into four groups to surround the residence strategically.
Tafirenyika, along with a colleague, was armed with service rifles. When the police knocked on the door and identified themselves, the now-deceased person opened the door.
As soon as the door was opened, Tafirenyika discharged his firearm multiple times, striking the deceased in the chest and arms, and killing him instantly.
Following the incident, Tafirenyika was charged for murder and found guilty. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Friday, 20 September.
In recent years, there have been serious allegations against police conducting extra-judicial executions, especially on suspected armed robbers during “indications”.
On Thursday, 19 September, President Emmerson Mnangagwa swore in the members of the Zimbabwe Independent Complaints Commission (ZICC) which will be responsible for investigating complaints of misconduct against members of the security services, including the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF), Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO), and Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS).

A police officer named Mitch Tafirenyika shot and killed an armed robbery suspect named Tichaona Muzhanduki at Radway Farm. He was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 20 years in jail. People have been accusing the police of killing suspects without a fair trial. To address this issue, a commission called ZICC was formed to investigate complaints against the security forces. President Emmerson Mnangagwa set up this commission to keep the police, army, intelligence, and prison officers in check. This incident shows that everyone, even the police, should follow the law.

Police Officer Jailed 20 Years For Killing Armed Robbery Suspect

Three police officers, Admore Nyamaropa (32), Andrew Magwenzi (35) and Prince Mugove Kuchekenya (39), who are stationed in Beitbridge were convicted and sentenced by a Harare Magistrate on robbery charges.
The brief facts of the case, as outlined by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), are that on 17 April 2023, Timothy Murasiranwa who is employed by the National Employment Council for the Tourism Industry of Zimbabwe was at Beitbridge Border Post where he collected a silver Land Cruiser Prado on behalf of his employer.
Murasiranwa intended to drive the motor vehicle to Harare and he was in the company of his brother who was driving a Toyota Rav 4.
He drove the Land Cruiser to Puma Service Station whilst his brother followed him and they intended to refuel both vehicles. Said the NPA:
<blockquote>
Whilst parked at the service station, a silver Toyota Corolla without registration plates approached and parked parallel to the complainant’s motor vehicle.
Two of the accused persons disembarked from the motor vehicle and started walking towards the complainant. One of the accused persons had a pistol underneath his shirt.
Upon noticing the pistol the complainant drove off but he was blocked at one of the garage’s exit points by the accused’s Toyota Corolla.
The two accused persons walked towards the Toyota Corolla where they pulled out a rifle. Upon seeing the rifle the complainant drove to the back of the garage hoping to find another exit but he found the road closed.
The accused persons followed the complainant to the back of the garage.
When the complainant’s brother noticed that the complainant was being followed by armed men he also drove to the back of the garage.
The complainant quickly jumped into his brother’s car, leaving the Prado behind and they sped off from the scene. The accused persons drove off in the Prado.
</blockquote>
Murasiranwa reported the matter to the police and investigations led to the recovery of the stolen motor vehicle on 01 May 2023 from a mechanic leading to Nyamaropa’s arrest. He then implicated Magwenzi and Kuchekenya.
Nyamaropa was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment of which 4 years were suspended. Magwenzi and Kuchekenya were sentenced to 10 years imprisonment each of which 2 years were suspended.

Three Police Officers Jailed For Armed Robbery

A Police detective stationed at CID Mwenezi has appeared at the Karoi Magistrates’ Court facing allegations of murder, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has said.
The brief facts of the case are that the accused person, Farai Simudzirai (42) was drinking beer with Mirirai Chiweza on 21 April 2024 in a Karoi nightclub where the now-deceased Police officer, Privillege Hove was also drinking.
It is further alleged that a dispute ensued as a result of a misunderstanding between Simudzirai and other patrons. Chiweza then brought Simudzirai outside the club to prevent him from disputing with other drinkers.
While outside, the accused began attacking Chiweza and the now-deceased, Hove attempted to stop him.
Simudzirai allegedly drew an okapi knife from his pocket and stabbed Hove once in the stomach before vanishing into the darkness. Hove died upon admission at Sally Mugabe Hospital in Harare.
The accused person was remanded in custody to 8 May 2024 and was advised to apply for bail at the High Court.

"Drunk" CID Officer Fatally Stabs Fellow Officer At A Nightclub

Tobias Pedzisayi, a member of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), was arrested on April 09, 2024, after he allegedly broke into an office and stole US$ 24,000.
Pedzisayi (34), who is stationed at Karoi was arraigned before the Karoi Magistrates’ Court facing charges of unlawful entry.
He was allegedly caught on CCTV camera breaking into the complainant’s office at around 1 AM on 03 March 2024. Said the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA):

In the CCTV footage, the accused person is allegedly seen breaking a safe using an unidentified object. He allegedly got away with USD24 000. The accused person also stole the CCTV camera which captured his activities.
The complainant found out about the infraction at around 0600hrs and made a report to the Police, leading to the accused person’s arrest on the 9th of April 2024.
The accused person allegedly bought a residential stand, motorcycle and building material worth USD6 000 from the proceeds and all were recovered.
</blockquote>
Pedzisayi will be back in court on 16 April 2024.
In another case, A 32-year-old man, Sipho Moyo from Pumula East, Bulawayo was brought before the Inyathi Magistrates’ Court facing attempted stock theft charges.
The court heard that on 08 March 2024, the complainant’s herd boy went to release goats from the pen.
Shockingly, the herdboy found Moyo sleeping inside the pen. Moyo was then apprehended by the villagers and a search was conducted leading to the recovery of two knives.
He was interviewed by the villagers and he said that he had come with his friend who is still at large. The friend had left him sleeping on the ground.
A report was then made to the Police leading to Moyo’s arrest. He was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment of which 6 months were suspended for 5 years. He will serve 6 months effectively.

Police Officer Steals US$24 000, Goat Thief Found Sleeping In Pen

A suspended police officer and his niece have been convicted of trafficking three women to Oman where they were turned into sex slaves.
According to <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/suspended-cop-jailed-for-trafficking-women-to-oman/">H-Metro</a>, Forward Mashonganyika and his niece, Tendai Muswe, were convicted after a full trial by Harare regional magistrate Estere Chivasa on Wednesday, 06 March.
Muswe is currently serving three years in prison for a similar offence.
In her ruling, magistrate Chivasa said the State had proved their case beyond reasonable doubt.
The magistrate said the three women proved to be credible witnesses. She said:

Besides facilitating the trafficking from Zimbabwe to Oman, the other issue is that there must be evidence of deceitfulness. Several things aren’t in dispute.
According to their defence, the three women stayed at Mashonganyika’s place of residence once and it’s not in dispute that they travelled to Oman.
They were excited to fly for the first time and, when they flew, they believed they were flying to Dubai to work in hotels and restaurants. It’s not in dispute that they went to Oman, not Dubai.
</blockquote>
The magistrate said the trafficked women were enslaved, assaulted, denied food and salaries, denied rest, and sexually assaulted in Oman before being deported to Zimbabwe. She said:
<blockquote>
It’s not in dispute that they were allocated to work as slaves and none of the two is denying that they were enslaved, assaulted, denied food and salaries, denied rest, sexually assaulted and deported back to Zimbabwe.
The only thing in dispute is whether they facilitated their trafficking to Oman and they denied any involvement, but the State led evidence from several witnesses and I listened carefully to how they were linking the duo to the trafficking.
The evidence was cemented by that of the investigating officer through whom documents of money they received from Mohamed Ali in Oman were tendered.

Suspended Police Officer Jailed For Trafficking Women To Oman

A 22-year-old man Tinotenda Chipadze (22) was recently arraigned before the Chegutu Magistrates’ Court facing murder charges after he allegedly killed a police officer and robbed him of his cellphone.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), Chipadze was remanded to 07 March 2024.
Allegations are that on 03 February 2024 at around 2 AM, the accused person and his accomplice Enock who is still at large followed the now deceased Elisha Munengerwa who was a Police Officer, from Eddy’s Kite bar in Chegutu to Gadzema bus terminus until he passed West End shops.
When they reached Gomo tuckshop the accused persons pounced on the now deceased and stabbed him on the upper left arm before taking his Techno Camon cellphone.
The accused fled from the scene leaving the now deceased lying in a pool of blood behind Gomo tuckshop.
A witness who was sleeping in the tuckshop heard the now deceased groaning, made an enquiry and found the now deceased battling for life. He made a report to the police who attended the scene.
The deceased was quickly ferried to Chegutu Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon admission.
Police investigations led to Chipadze’s arrest after he sold the now deceased’s cellphone.

Man (22) Kills Police Officer During Robbery

A police officer was hit by an unknown motorist while controlling traffic in Harare Central Business District on 10 January.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Leopold Takawira and Samora Machel, Harare. The motorist did not stop.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said:
At about 1:45 PM at the intersection of Leopold Takawira and Samora Machel, a police officer was hit by an unknown motorist while controlling traffic. The motorist did not stop after the accident.
The officer sustained bruises on the right leg. Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station.
Cases of motorists who hit pedestrians or other vehicles on the roads and speed off without rendering assistance have been on the rise in recent years.
For instance, in the first half of 2022, police recorded 2 480 hit-and-run accidents.
According to the law, drivers should stop and render assistance. Magistrates tend to impose higher sentences when someone is killed since the assistance might well have saved a life.

Traffic Cop Injured In Hit-and-run Incident

A Gweru-based police officer, Musa Mukuli, who allegedly stole copper cables from President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Precabe Farm in Sherwood, Kwekwe, has been denied bail, <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200016956/thieving-gweru-cop-denied-bail">reported NewsDay</a>.
Mukuli is a constable at Nehanda Police Station in Gweru.
He appeared before Kwekwe magistrate Samkelisiwe Gumbo on Wednesday facing a charge of theft and another of contravening the Electricity Act.
Gumbo denied Mukuli bail before postponing the matter to 05 October.
Allegations were that Mukuli and three other accomplices who are on the run stole copper cables from the two neighbouring farms in the Sherwood Block.
The suspects pounced on Precabe Farm and stole copper cables but Mukuli was nabbed by alert security details when the gang tried to steal the solar panels from Brownland Farm.
Prosecuting, Michelle Daraja said that on 07 September, Mukuli and three accomplices, Brandon Ncube, William Wurayayi and one Jameson went to Precabe Farm where they stole copper cables from a water pump house near Munyati River.
While in the act, they were interrupted by a water pump attendant, Liberty Zunga, who was conducting perimeter checks but three others managed to escape.
Mukuli was apprehended but he wrestled with a water pump attendant at Precabe Farm, Liberty Zunga,  and overpowered him and managed to escape.
On 14 September at around 11 PM, the gang connived to steal solar panels from Brownland Estate Farm. Said Daraja:

The four accused persons went to the mentioned farm and removed and took 3×335 watts solar panels supplying power to the borehole. They hid the panels in a nearby bush.
They were, however, spotted by the security details from neighbouring Precabe Farm who tracked them down.

The court also heard that as the suspects attempted to board their getaway Honda Fit vehicle, the security details pounced and managed to apprehend Mukuli while three others escaped.
Mukuli indicated that they had hidden the solar panels in a bush near the scene and this linked them to the copper cables theft.
The security details handed over Mukuli to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Kwekwe leading to his subsequent appearance in court.

Police Officer Who Stole Solar Panels From Mnangagwa's Farm Denied Bail

A Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) constable who opened a docket and investigated ZANU PF Bikita South MP Energy Mutodi for allegedly shooting at CCC supporters during campaigns ahead of the 23 August elections has been transferred and his phone confiscated by his superiors.
<a href="https://masvingomirror.com/mutodi-shooting-cop-in-trouble-for-opening-docket/">The Mirror</a> reported that Tapiwa Chiweshe has not only been transferred from Bikita but the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has apparently withheld his allowances.
Chiweshe has since written a letter to ZEC querying the non-payment of his dues.
He took up Mutodi’s case after all other police officers at his station had refused to deal with the matter.
On Friday, 09 September, police officers from Masvingo Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Law and Order presented a warrant of seizure to Chiweshe and seized his cellphone.
They accused him of supplying information to the media.
Masvingo Police Provincial spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa, was reportedly not in the office but promised The Mirror to look into the matter.
Detective Sergeant Ropafadzo Takaendesa and Detective Elikhayi Khanye seized Chiweshe’s cellphone, accusing him of violating Section c/s 4(j)(i)(c) of the official Secret Act Chapter 11:09.
The seized cellphone is expected to be handed over to cyber scientists to see if it has any links to media people.

Police Officer In Trouble For Investigating Energy Mutodi | Report

A police officer reportedly committed suicide at Parirenyatwa Hospital in Harare after telling doctors of his shame that his salary was too little to support his family.
<a href="https://www.zimlive.com/police-officer-hangs-himself-at-parirenyatwa-hospital-over-pay-shame/">ZimLive</a> reported that Francis Patama (34), jumped off a moving police vehicle but survived and was taken to the hospital where he hanged himself.
Patama was taken to the hospital by a team of officers from the Support Unit and relatives, including his wife.
The publication cited police sources as saying Patama did not report for duty on time after being paid last week.
When his superiors initiated disciplinary proceedings, he allegedly assaulted one of them. Added the source:

He jumped off a moving police car on June 17 in an attempt to commit suicide.
He was taken to Parirenyatwa’s psychiatric unit called Annex and admitted for what doctors said was major depressive disorder with psychosis.
</blockquote>
Patama allegedly told doctors that he “feels like he is a failure because his salary can’t sustain the basic needs of his family.”
On the day of his death, Patama left Ward 12 where he was admitted to take a bath and took a cloth belt from one of the patients’ hospital gowns and hanged himself in a wardrobe.
Parirenyatwa spokesman Linos Dire declined to comment saying the matter is under police investigation.
Earlier this week, the Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/2023/06/20/teachers-blame-mthuli-ncube-for-deputy-headmistress-suicide/">said that the Deputy school head at Sarahuru Primary School in Mwenezi took her own life</a> due to “slave wages”.
Police officers are in the same pay bracket as teachers and other civil servants.

Police Officer Commits Suicide Over Pay Shame

A police officer stationed at Tongwe base in rural Beitbridge recently appeared in court for allegedly insulting President Emmerson Mnangagwa and threatening to arrest ZANU PF members who were drinking beer at a local business centre, reported <a href="https://cite.org.zw/drunk-cop-insults-mnangagwa-threatens-to-arrest-zanu-pf-members/">CITE</a>.
The accused, Constable Tapfuma, is being charged with contravening Paragraph (5) 35 of the Schedule to the Police Act, Chapter 11. 10 as read with sections 29 and 34 of the said Act: “Acting in an unbecoming and disorderly manner or in any manner prejudicial to good order and discipline and reasonably likely to bring discredit to the police service.”
Allegations are that on 14 May 2023 at around 6.30 PM at Vendason Bottle Store, Constable Tapfuma was drinking beer and playing snooker with other patrons.
He allegedly insulted and threatened to arrest three ZANU PF members who were also at the bottle store.
The complainants are Mauritius Nare, Junior Ngorima and Freddy Sibindi. Part of the State outline reads:

Upon noticing the three, the defaulter started insulting them saying, imi madhara eZANU PF munoita titambure, mukauya ku base kwangu makapfeka hembe ye ZANU PF ndokusunga! Meaning to say “ZANU PF supporters are causing people to suffer and if they enter a police camp whilst wearing ZANU PF regalia he will arrest them.”
The defaulter went on to say that he has been deployed at Tongwe base to make sure MDC wins this year’s elections.
The defaulter’s conduct was not in line with the ZRP code of conduct and brings the name of the organisation into disrepute.

Sibindi, who is headman under Chief Sitaudze, alleged that the police officer also claimed that he had assaulted one Habakkuk Ndou, a patron at the bottle store, for his allegiance to the ruling party. Said Sibindi:

I heard Constable Tapfuma telling Habakkuk Ndou who has a scar on his thigh that it was them as MDC members who had assaulted him, He said “ronda raunaro wakarohwa nesu isu vanhu ve MDC.
I rebuked him for uttering such sentiments. When I was about to leave the bottle store Constable Tapfuma grabbed me by the hand and asked me which political party I belonged to.
I replied that I belonged to ZANU PF and I was born a ZANU PF member. Constable Tapfuma started shouting at me saying (obscenities/vulgar) vanhu veZANU PF pamwe chete na President wenyu. Hamugoni kutonga.  Iwe wakagumira grade 5, President wenyu akagumira grade 7. Mapurisa akadeployiwa kuno kuma ruzevha ndee MDC gore rino ZANU PF hamuhwini,nyika ndeyedu isu ve MDC” which means you ZANU PF followers together with your president you are not educated. You only attained education up to grade 5 level and your president up to grade 7 level. All young police officers who are deployed in all these rural areas belong to MDC. This year ZANU PF is not winning elections and MDC is going to win.

In his testimony, Nare the village head of Makawa village under Chief Sitaudze also alleged that he heard Constable Tapfuma saying he would arrest any person who would come to the base to make a report wearing ZANU PF regalia.
Sibindi said he phoned Ward 4 Councillor Ketina Moyo and ZANU PF Beitbridge DCC Chairperson Samuel Mulaudzi and informed them about the ordeal.
Sibindi said the following morning, he went to the police base to confront Constable Tapfuma but he denied having uttered such words and pleaded for forgiveness stating that maybe he was drunk. Added Sibindi:

Police Officer Insults Mnangagwa, Threatens To Arrest ZANU PF Members

A police officer was killed on Saturday morning at a hotel bar in Figtree while reportedly trying to end a misunderstanding between a patron and a bartender.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi identified the victim as Detective Sergeant Lovedany Madambi (39).
Asst Comm Nyathi said Madambi was stabbed to death with an unknown object by one Mthulisi Moyo (25). Said Nyathi:

I can confirm one suspect Mthulisi Moyo aged 25 years has been arrested in connection with the murder of a police officer, Detective Sergeant Lovedany Madambi which occurred at the hotel bar in Fig tree which occurred on the 8th of October 2022 around 2 AM.
The victim had reprimanded the suspect for pestering the bar attendant to sell him cigarettes after the bar had closed for the day.

Asst Comm Nyathi said the suspect has since been arrested.
In an unrelated case, police said they are investigating a murder incident which occurred in Ngundu, Chivi, on 22 September 2022 at 1.30 PM.
Police said two grade one pupils aged seven and six reportedly fought over a pencil on their way home from school resulting in one of the pupils sustaining severe injuries.

Police Officer Fatally Stabbed Over A Cigarette

A police officer was allegedly caught stealing Russian/smoked sausages from a TM Pick n’ Pay outlet on Saturday. Writing on Twitter, prominent journalist Hopewell Chin’ono <a href="https://twitter.com/daddyhope/status/1147607384174616577" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">wrote</a>:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has banned its offices from carrying any personal bags, including laptop bags and groceries when in uniform. The force alleges that the bags are being used by some officers to carry civilian clothing, which is then used to indulge in “mischievous activities” at the end of their shifts. These new directives, are already part of the standing orders of the police, although they were being disregarded under the tenure of previous ZRP boss, Augustine Chihuri. The police officers were also banned from using WhatsApp, Twitter and headphones whilst on duty.
A memo sent by the head office to all police stations ordering all officers-in-charge to spread the word to their subordinates last week reads:

ZRP Bans Police Officers From Carrying Bags, Groceries While In Uniform

A senior police officer killed himself by at Matapi Police Station in<a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Mbare"> Mbare</a> yesterday.  The officer shot himself.  The police are investigating the case, to confirm the suicide as well as to establish reasons.
Police spokesperson, Senior Assistant Commissioner <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Charity_Charamba">Charity Charamba</a> confirmed the incident saying
<blockquote>I can confirm we have received such a report, but I am yet to be briefed on the circumstances surrounding the incident.</blockquote>
