The 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) season kicks off on Friday afternoon with debutants Scottland facing Triangle at Rufaro Stadium in Harare. Having signed several of the best locally-based players, Scottland are expected to make a strong debut and secure a win in their first match in the top flight.
One of the most anticipated fixtures of the opening weekend will be at Wadzanayi Stadium in Shamva, where defending champions Simba Bhora take on FC Platinum. This match promises to be a tough challenge for Simba Bhora, especially with the departure of key players to Scottland. FC Platinum, who were the only visiting team to win at Wadzanayi last season, will look to build on their strong record.
Other promoted clubs will also be in action: Kwekwe United will host Ngezi Platinum Stars at Bata Stadium in Gweru, MWOS will face Highlanders at Baobab Stadium, and TelOne will travel to Herentals College.
Dynamos, fresh off their victory in the 2025 Castle Challenge Cup, will take on their bogey team, ZPC Kariba, at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.

PSL 2025 Matchday One Fixtures: Scottland Host Triangle In Season Opener

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) is still awaiting confirmation from ZIFA regarding which team will occupy the Southern Region Soccer League (SRSL) slot in the top-flight league.
This follows the 2024 SRSL title winner, ZPC Hwange, entering into a strategic partnership with Norton-based MWOS, who will now take over the slot.
MWOS, which competed in the Northern Region Soccer League (NRSL) in 2024, finished second in the title race behind Scottland.
PSL communications officer, Kudzai Bare, spoke to <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/premiership-fixtures-out-await-zifa-confirmation-on-southern-region-slot/">Zimpapers Sports Hub</a> after the release of the 2025 fixture and indicated that they expect confirmation soon. She said:

We are still waiting for confirmation from ZIFA on the team that will fill that slot, which is why, on the fixtures, you will realise that we just went for the Southern Region. We expect to get the confirmation from ZIFA soon.

The PSL on Monday unveiled the fixtures for the 2025 season, although the exact commencement dates are still to be confirmed.
The season will kick off with the Castle Challenge Cup, featuring the 2024 league champions, Simba Bhora, facing off against Chibuku Super Cup winner, Dynamos, at Rufaro Stadium on February 22.
The much-anticipated clash between giants Highlanders and Dynamos is set for Week 14 in Harare, with the return leg scheduled for Week 31.
The first “Battle of the Cities” between Highlanders and CAPS United will occur early, in Week Six, while the Harare Derby featuring Dynamos and CAPS United will follow in Week 12.
Highlanders will start their season away to newly promoted MWOS, who have taken over ZPC Hwange’s PSL status.
Dynamos will host ZPC Kariba while defending champions Simba Bhora face a challenging opener at home against FC Platinum.
Newly promoted Scottland will host Triangle United, while Chicken Inn will take on Bikita Minerals.
Prince Matore’s Kwekwe United side will welcome Ngezi Platinum Stars at home, with the opening week concluding as Herentals host TelOne.
CAPS United will kick off their campaign away to Greenfuel, while Manica Diamonds will play host to Yadah.
In the final week, the headline fixture will be a Bulawayo derby between Highlanders and Chicken Inn, while Dynamos will face FC Platinum in the capital.

PSL Unveils 2025 Season Fixtures... Awaits ZIFA Confirmation On Southern Region Slot

The 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League resumes this week with Rufaro Stadium set to host an official football match for the first time since 2019 this Thursday as CAPS United hosts Bikita Minerals at the iconic venue.
Arguably, the pick of fixtures this Thursday is at Mandava Stadium where former PSL champions FC Platinum take on Chicken Inn.
Manica Diamonds and Chegutu Pirates clash at Sakubva Stadium today. Both the Ngoda Boys and Zaire have lost their opening two fixtures in the current 2024 season.
Manica Diamonds lost 3-1 to Simba Bhora on 10  March before going down 3-2 to TelOne on 16 March. Chegutu Pirates succumbed to a 1-0 at the hands of FC Platinum on 09 March and lost 1-0 to ZPC Kariba on 17 March.
On Friday, March 29, Highlanders take on Simba Bhora at Barbourfields Stadium, while Yadah Stars host Dynamos at Rufaro Stadium.

PSL 2024 Matchday 3 Fixtures; Football Returns To Rufaro Stadium, Bosso Hosts Simba Bhora

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) says it will not release the 2024 league fixtures until the Eastern Region Division One Soccer League (ERSL) promotion saga has been resolved.
The new season is scheduled to commence in exactly two weeks tomorrow, but teams are yet to be furnished with the fixture schedules for matchday one as the legal battle for promotion in the ERSL between Bikita Minerals and Tenax is yet to be concluded.
The case is now before the ZIFA Appeals Committee and will resume with a full hearing on 16 February, just seven days before the season kicks off.
The judgment is set to be released a few days before the season starts.
Bikita Minerals were promoted to the top flight following a boardroom decision but the move was challenged by Tenax who had finished top of the log standings on the final day of the season.
Speaking to <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/sport/article/200022869/psl-withhold-fixtures">NewsDay</a> on Thursday, 08 February, PSL spokesperson Kudzai Bare said the fixtures will only be released after the ERSL promotion saga has been settled. She said:

We are just waiting for the verdict of the Eastern Region saga, then we release the fixtures.
Asked if that would not delay the start of the 2024 PSL league season, Bare responded:
We will see how best we will manage it. Also, the other issue is that we are waiting for the stadiums to be inspected. 
My understanding is that the First Instance Board (FIB) has been appointed to do the inspections.
So, the stadiums need to be inspected first before anything else happens.

The FIB is responsible for inspecting stadiums to ensure they meet the bare minimum requirements to host top-flight matches. 
The committee also ensures that clubs adhere to CAF and FIFA club licensing requirements.
The ZIFA Normalisation Committee has appointed former Warriors welfare manager and CAF general co-ordinator Sharrif Mussa as the new FIB chairperson, replacing Xolisani Gwesela.
He leads a three-member committee, which also has Violet Jubane and Gaylord Madhuguza.
