The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has extended the registration period for the November 2024 Examinations to 17 May 2024.
Initially, the deadline was set too soon, prompting requests from parents, schools, and other stakeholders for an extension.
Due to concerns raised by Members of Parliament and parents, ZIMSEC decided to extend the deadline.
The extension provides additional time for candidates to mobilize resources and pay examination fees. Many learners faced challenges due to the El Nino-induced drought, making it difficult to meet the initial payment deadline.
A public notice issued by ZIMSEC this Friday, March 2022 reads as follows:

The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council would like to advise its stakeholders, parents/ guardians, and candidates that the Council has extended the registration period for the November 2024 Examinations to 17 May 2024.
All intending candidates should ensure that they register at their respective schools/centres during this extended registration period.
Candidates are encouraged to confirm their subject entries during this period and ensure correct subject entries. Those who wish to add subjects can do so during this window.
Candidates should ensure the correct bio data has been captured, that is, correct names, spellings, and, dates of birth
Heads of Examination Centres should ensure that all intending candidates are registered during the extended registration period.
Fees are pegged in USD however they are accepted in the currency that the parents/guardians are comfortable with.
Parents who wish to make payments in USD or Rands can continue to do so until the registration closing dates.
For those who would like to make payments in ZWL, the closing date of 26 March 2024, for the rate of ZWL18 981 will apply.
The dates for payments in ZWL during the extended registration period will be announced in due course. No payment made using the afore-mentioned rate will be accepted after the 26th of March 2024.
Payments for the examination fees should NOT be paid directly into ZIMSEC accounts by individual parents.
Candidates/ Parents should make payments to the school or centre of registration for forward remission to ZIMSEC.
Candidates, parents and guardians are encouraged to contact their respective Schools/Centres for registration administration BEFORE the 17th of May 2024 to avoid any inconveniences.

Deadline For November 2024 ZIMSEC Exam Registration Extended Until May 17

The Zimbabwe School Examination Council (ZIMSEC) will open a mop-up registration window to allow candidates who failed to register before 14 April to be able to register.
The window will be open from the 8th to the 12th of May 2023. In a statement released on 17 April 2023, ZIMSEC said:

The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) issued a circular to all Examination Centres on the 31st of January 2023, informing of the approved Ordinary and Advanced level June/ November examination fees and the closing dates for registration for each session respectively.
ZIMSEC wishes to make the following announcement to the nation and our stakeholders.
1. The November 2023 Ordinary and Advanced level examination registration closed on the 14th of April 2023.
2. ZIMSEC will carry out a registration mop-up exercise from Monday 8 May 2023 to Friday 12 May 2023 to allow centres to ensure that all their candidates have been registered for the November 2023 examinations. Candidates who wish to sit for their examinations should ensure that they register at their centre of choice during this period.
3. Examination registration fees during that window are pegged according to the normal registration. The registration fees are accepted in the currency parents and guardians are comfortable paying in. For parents who wish to pay in ZWL, payments will be made at the prevailing exchange rate which will be communicated on Friday, 5 May 2023.
4. Payments for the examination fees should NOT be paid directly into ZIMSEC accounts by individual parents. Candidates/ Parents should make payments to the centre of registration for forward remission to ZIMSEC.
5. Centres are hereby advised that this window is open only for individual candidates who would have failed to meet the 14 April 2023 deadline and not for whole centres. Kindly refer to Examinations Circular No. 4 of 2023 and Finance Circular No. 1 of 2023 for guidance. NB. THERE ARE NO LATE REGISTRATION FEES TO BE PAID before the 12th of May 2023.

ZIMSEC To Embark On Mop-up Registration Exercise

Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister, Paul Mavima, has said the government has not deregistered any Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) operating in the country.
In an interview with the Zimpapers Television Network’s The Chase programme on Thursday night, Mavima said the government has identified and informed 391 NGOs who are non-compliant with the dictates of the Private Voluntary Organisation (PVO) Act to regularise their operations.
He said the identified NGOs, whose figure was 450 last year but has come down to 391, still have a chance to regularise their operations before the Government gazettes their deregistration. Said Mavima:

The list still gives them an opportunity to regularise before we gazette, for now, we haven’t gazetted but soon we will be gazetting.
We have given them a very long rope but once we gazette they will then have to apply afresh to operate.

He also denied claims that the listing of non-compliant NGOs was done based on the amended PVO Act, saying the process to amend the law has not been completed. Mavima said:

The new Act’s amendment process has not been completed and a lot of people have been saying there is a draconian action by Government in line with the new Act and we have started to see the implementation of that Act which is going to constrain civil society space.
The Act has always been there and just like in any other country, it provides a criterion for registration for anyone who wants to operate a PVO.
It sets the requirements needed, a management arrangement, provides annual reports to the PVO board, audited financial statements and keeps within the mandate that you said you wanted to operate in and also to confine yourself to the geographical space that you said you want to operate from. This is standard procedure, everywhere.
</blockquote>
Mavima said Zimbabwe has only deregistered two NGOs last year for national security reasons.
He said one of the NGOs had said they wanted to provide services to children and started constructing schools and after that started teaching fundamentalism in those schools.
Mavima also explained that Jairos Jiri Association, which is among the 291 NGOs that were listed, has over the years been unbundled and become a number of organisations offering various services.
