A 30-year-old woman from Zengeza 2, Chitungwiza, has been accused of sexually assaulting her 14-year-old sister since 2022 and recording videos of the abusive acts.
According to <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/sister-sexually-assaults-sibling-records/">The Herald</a>, the accused, whose identity has been withheld to protect the younger sibling, appeared before Chitungwiza regional magistrate Gloria Takundwa last Thursday.
She was charged with aggravated indecent assault and has been remanded in custody until July 24th.
Prosecuting the case, Pamela Dzinduwa told the court that the alleged incidents began in September 2022, when the elder sister instructed the 14-year-old to undress and then sexually assaulted her using a banana, recording the act on video.
The court further heard that similar assaults occurred on multiple occasions, with the elder sister employing various objects, including a cucumber, and later using her fingers while making video calls to a man.
In one instance in June 2024, the older sister allegedly gave the child hair remover and then sexually assaulted her again.
The disturbing pattern of abuse came to light when the 14-year-old victim confided in her teachers at school, first informing her Shona teacher, then her Fashion and Fabrics teacher, and finally her Guidance and Counselling teacher, who reported the matter to the Department of Social Welfare.
A police investigation was subsequently launched, leading to the arrest of the older sister.

A 30-year-old woman from Chitungwiza is accused of hurting her 14-year-old sister since 2022. She made videos of the assaults. The woman has been charged and will be in custody until July 24th. The abuse started in 2022 with the elder sister using different objects to assault her sister. The younger sister told her teachers, who reported it to social services. The police arrested the older sister. It is important to tell someone if someone is hurting you.

Chitungwiza Woman (30) Sexually Abuses Younger Sister (14)

A 79-year-old man from Igusi village in Umguza has been arrested for allegedly raping his 12-year-old granddaughter multiple times and impregnating her.
The man, whose name has been withheld to protect the identity of the minor, is an ex-convict who previously served jail time in 1992 for a similar crime: raping and impregnating his minor daughter.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson in Matabeleland North Province, Inspector Glory Banda, confirmed the incident to <a href="https://cite.org.zw/79-year-old-man-rapes-impregnates-minor-granddaughter/">CITE</a>.
He said the accused committed the offence sometime in January 2024 and the matter was reported to the police on March 6, 2024. Said Insp Banda:

The man raped the minor on four different occasions. When he did it the first time, he threatened that if she spoke out he would kill her.
The minor reported the matter to her grandmother but she was dismissed. The grandmother claimed that the man was no longer sexually active.
The matter later came to light through the school and a report was made to the police. It was reported on March 6, 2024, but the man fled.

Inspector Glory Banda confirmed that the man was apprehended on March 9, 2024, following an extensive search. He said:

It is quite worrying that a community can have such vile people who destroy the lives of children like this. This man committed a similar offence to his daughter.
He would come and fetch her from school, claiming that she had to look after her siblings because he would have to attend to other things.
On the way home he would rape her. This happened repeatedly until the daughter fell pregnant.

A community member who spoke to CITE about the man’s previous arrest decades ago said they started noticing some changes in the man’s daughter and upon talking to her, she disclosed her ordeal. Said the villager:

She was taken to the police and went for health checkups and they found out that she was pregnant.
He was released from prison and came back to his home. Now he has done the same thing to his granddaughter.
If it wasn’t for the school authorities that held a programme to speak about child abuse, no one would have spoken out about this.
I hope that the community learns a lesson from this. Honestly, someone must have seen or suspected something while the abuse was going on.
But no one spoke out and now this man has impregnated another minor. I just hope the community would be more aware of such dangers within communities so that minors can be protected.

Zimbabwe has been grappling with a distressing epidemic of child sexual abuse, particularly the rape of minors.
Between January and September 2022, at least 220 Zimbabwean minors fell victim to rape, according to former Women’s Affairs Minister Sithembiso Nyoni.
These chilling numbers were revealed during the national commemorations of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
These figures represent reported cases, but many similar incidents likely go unreported due to societal pressures and the desire to preserve family reputations.
Tragically, this pattern of abuse often occurs within families, where parents or guardians are either perpetrators or facilitators of the abuse, sometimes concealing these crimes.

Man (79) Rapes And Impregnates Granddaughter (12)

The <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Football_Association_(ZIFA)/">Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA)</a> has initiated investigations into alleged sexual abuse within the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Mighty_Warriors/">Mighty Warriors</a> camp during the ongoing Cosafa Women’s Cup tournament in South Africa. The investigation was prompted by a female member of the technical team who raised concerns about a male member of the backroom staff. 
The female member has reportedly been isolated after colleagues accused her of spreading falsehoods to destabilise the team. The team has qualified for the semifinals after a draw against Botswana. In a statement seen by Pindula News, ZIFA’s normalisation committee chairperson, Lincoln Mutasa, emphasised that the association is treating the matter seriously. Read the statement:

The Zimbabwe Football Association has received a report of misconduct amongst members of the of the Senior Women’s technical team.
The team travelled with a qualified Safeguarding Officer who is on the ground attending to the matter. The association is taking the matter seriously, and is currently carrying out independent investigations to get to the bottom of the allegations.
The public is reminded that this is a delicate matter, and should not make unfounded pronouncements that may jeopardise the investigations. ZIFA condemns all forms of misconduct, and will ensure that anyone found guilty will be punished accordingly.

According to <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/mighty-warriors-sex-abuse-victim-turned-into-black-sheep-of-the-team/">the Chronicle</a>, the female member lodged a complaint against a male member of the technical staff. The alleged perpetrator had reportedly requested to kiss her before their departure to South Africa and later patted her buttocks when she visited his room to collect team equipment.
Quoted sources stated that the victim has been absent from training sessions since sharing her experience, as she faced ridicule and accusations of being a scorned lover due to her alleged romantic involvement with the accused male staff member. The anonymous source is quoted as saying:

She is so lonely and as I speak to you now, she is crying in her room and did not attend dinner with the rest of the team, it was the same with lunch. The other members of the technical team are now saying she is emotionally unstable and therefore must not mingle with the players as her condition will affect them. They are doing all this just to protect this guy.

According to another source, technical meetings are taking place in the abuser’s room, making it challenging for the victim to attend due to the traumatic experience she had there. The source said:

She needs all the support now because she is certainly in  bad state and anyone in such a condition can do anything but sadly nothing is happening. The people who are supposed to be with her at her hour of need are nowhere near her, they seemingly have chosen the side of the alleged abuser.

The Chronicle reports that the tournament organisers have shown a strong interest in the case and have requested their safeguarding officer, who handles sexual abuse matters, to communicate with the victim. The Mighty Warriors team also has their own safeguarding officer named Dorothy Mugari.
The issue of abuse of women in football circles is a serious concern that has gained attention in recent years. Incidents of harassment, discrimination, and gender-based violence have shed light on the challenges faced by women in the sport. Instances of abuse can occur at various levels, including within teams, coaching staff, administrative bodies, and fan communities. The abuse may take different forms, such as verbal, physical, or emotional mistreatment. 
Just a month ago, Luis Rubiales, the former head of Spain’s football federation, resigned following a scandal where he kissed a female player on the lips after the Women’s World Cup victory. Despite initially rejecting calls to step aside, Rubiales faced intense pressure and eventually quit. An investigating judge is now assessing whether the case should proceed to trial. The player involved, Ms Hermoso, expressed her disappointment and stated that she did not consent to the kiss. She also revealed the pressure she faced and how federation officials coerced her into signing a press statement indicating the kiss was mutual.
Rubiales maintains that the kiss was mutual. False accusations of sexual abuse, although rare, can have serious consequences. They can harm the credibility of real survivors, erode trust in the legal system, and cause emotional distress to those wrongly accused.

COSAFA Women's Cup: Alleged Sexual Abuse Rock Mighty Warriors Camp

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has implored school authorities to monitor learners so that they do not consume alcohol during break time or lunch.
Posting on X, the ZRP said on Monday, that a Form One female learner was sexually abused by a drunk Form Two male learner at the school premises in Waterfalls Harare.
According to the Police, the assailant had been drinking beer with other learners at break time before he pounced on the victim. Police said:

The ZRP is concerned with reports of students who are drinking beer at school premises and urges school authorities to monitor the students even when they are on break or lunch at school grounds.
On 25/09/23 a Form One female student was sexually abused by a Form Two male student following a beer-drinking spree with other students during break time at the school grounds in Waterfalls, Harare.

Reports suggest that drug and substance abuse is now rampant among juveniles as highly intoxicating illicit brews such as “kambwa” are now readily available and affordable.
There are also concerns among parents and guardians that teachers who are underpaid and demoralised no longer strictly monitor learners during school hours.

Beer-drinking Spree At School Results In Sexual Abuse Of Form One Girl

A 19-year-old woman from Chimanimani recently appeared before a magistrate for allegedly sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy.
The woman, who is from Masiyandaka Village under Chief Saurombe appeared before Chipinge regional magistrate, Noel Mupeiwa.
She was facing aggravated indecent assault charges as defined in Section 66 (1) (b) of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act, Chapter 9:23.
The suspect, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge, arguing that the boy’s mother was framing her since they are not in good books.
The State called in four witnesses to testify.
Prosecuting, Themba Dhliwayo said that on 7 March 2023, at around 1 PM, the complainant was sent to the accused person’s homestead by his mother (name withheld to protect the identity of the minor) to get some vegetables.
Upon arrival at the accused’s homestead, the complainant was allegedly asked to bring the accused’s baby to the bedroom and he obliged. Said Dhliwayo:

When the boy entered the bedroom, he discovered that Manyezu was naked and stepped back. However, the boy was ordered to put the baby down.
The accused person then held the boy by his hand. She asked him if he had ever had sexual intercourse with a woman.
She allegedly undressed the boy and proceeded to have sex with him once without his consent.
After the act, [the accused] allegedly released the boy and told him not to disclose what had happened to anyone.

The matter only came to light on 17 March when the complainant told his mother.
The complainant’s mother lodged a complaint to the police on 14 April.
The boy was medically examined at Chimanimani Hospital.
The magistrate was expected to pass his judgement on Thursday last week.
Aggravated indecent assault is a serious criminal offence that carries severe penalties upon conviction.
In Zimbabwe, aggravated indecent assault is defined as any non-consensual sexual contact or behavior that results in serious bodily harm or injury to the victim.

Woman (19) In Court For Sexually Abusing Boy (12)

A Form One pupil at a private school in Luveve suburb, Bulawayo, committed suicide by hanging on Sunday evening.
The girl reportedly hanged herself in her bedroom at around 7 PM in the presence of her 8-year-old sister.
Her 19-year-old brother told the <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/form-one-pupil-commits-suicide/">Chronicle</a> that she did not leave a suicide note or tell anyone if she had any challenges. He said:
<blockquote>
My sister was a very quiet person but she was always smiling. She had gone out and met my father by the corner and asked him where he was going.
My father told her he was going to buy some relish. When she arrived at the house, there was my little sister.
She took some plastic-like rope and hung herself from the roof truss in her bedroom. She didn’t leave any message nor did she say anything to my younger sister.
When my younger sister went to tell the people who lodge in the house at the back, it was already too late as she had died. This is painful.

The late girl’s uncle said they were informed about the tragic incident on Sunday. He said:
<blockquote>
The girl’s mother died last year in January in South Africa, and what pained us was that the father refused for the children to go and bury their mother at our village in the Gwamba area in Nkayi.
This suicide is troubling to us and we’re forced to think about many things. We suspect that maybe the girl was being abused and just suffered in silence because there’s no other way to explain this painful incident.
I just arrived and I’m waiting for the father to arrive so that we can talk but I’m not happy with the disrespect he has shown to our family.

A pastor’s wife from the nearby Baptist Church who preferred anonymity said they had been supporting the children together with neighbours in the area after both parents left the children for South Africa. She said;
<blockquote>
I’m pained by this and I wish she could wake up but I know it can’t happen. She was a member of our church but didn’t attend church on Sunday after a relative visited them.
In life iminwe ayilingani but we supported them wherever we could. The father was working hard to provide for them but it was difficult.
The children stayed for a long time by themselves when their parents were in South Africa and the father only returned sometime last year and we were assisting them.

Bulawayo Provincial ZRP spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the suicide to the Chronicle, saying investigations into the case are ongoing.

Form One Pupil Commits Suicide In The Presence Of Sister (8)

Lawyers representing 25 members of the opposition CCC who were arrested last week in Harare’s Budiriro suburb said their female clients were molested en route to the Harare magistrates court.
The lawyers accused the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) wardens of transporting female prisoners in the same van with male prisoners who are not CCC members, which resulted in the females being fondled along the way.
The lawyers, Wilbert Mandinde, Kudzai Kadzere and Chris Mhike also alleged that one of the accused persons contracted coronavirus while in prison and has been isolated for 10 days.
Harare magistrate Yeukai Dzuda ordered the State to investigate the abuse and bring the report to court by Friday.
The CCC members were arrested for allegedly holding a political gathering in Harare without police clearance.
Allegations are that on 14 January 2023, the accused persons responded to an invitation for a meeting at Budiriro MP Costa Machingauta’s house.
Prosecutors submitted that ZRP Budiriro received a tip-off that the accused were gathered illegally and went to investigate.

Upon arrival at the scene of the crime, the police observed that the accused’s conduct was disturbing the peace of a section of members of the public.
The police ordered the accused persons to disperse, but they resisted leading to their arrest. The accused had no lawful excuse to act in the manner they did.

Female CCC Members Fondled In Prison Vehicle - Lawyers

An 18-year-old Harare man has been arrested for allegedly raping his 10-year-old biological sister several times since 2019.
The sexual abuse came to light on Sunday when the girl told her mother about the rape leading to the arrest of her brother.
Police said the brother would invite his little sister to watch pornographic videos on his phone before raping her.
ZRP spokesperson in Harare Province, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the arrest to <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/man-arrested-for-raping-sister/">H-Metro</a>, adding the girl has since been referred to Edith Opperman Clinic for medical examination. He said:

Police arrested an 18-year-old man for raping his biological sister. In 2019, the accused person was left at home with his little sister by their mother for a week.
The accused person took advantage of their mother’s absence and forced the victim into having sexual intercourse with him four times.
He threatened her that if she tells anyone he would kill her.
In the afternoon of January 11 this year, the accused person played pornographic videos on his cellphone and forced the complainant to watch but she refused and ran away.
On January 13, the accused person went into the dining room where the complainant was seated and forced her to sleep on the sofa and raped her.
The complainant told her mother about the incident as well as the past abuses and a report was made.

Man (18) Rapes Biological Sister (10)

A primary school teacher from Gokwe is on the run after he allegedly sexually abused several female learners at the school.
The teacher has been identified as Peter Mugomesi from Mugwira Primary School in the Manoti area, Gokwe South District in Midlands Province.
Mugomesi reportedly ran away after photos of him groping female pupils leaked and went viral.
In one of the pictures, Mugomesi can be seen fondling a girl’s breasts while in another, the minor is sitting on his lap.
B-Metro reported a source from the school who declined to be named as saying Mugomesi always looked at school children with eyes full of lust. Said the source:

I always felt he looked at the children strangely. After hearing the about the accusations, in retrospect, I think he looked at them with the hungry eyes of a predator.
It is possible he abused many children and I hope they will have the courage to make police reports.

Midlands Provincial Education Director in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education Jameson Machimbira said:

This is highly criminal. The case is under investigation and I am waiting for the report.
The adult in the picture is confirmed to be a teacher at Mugwira Primary School in the Manoti area, Gokwe South district.

There are two issues here, one is a criminal offence while the other is a professional offence (conduct).
Police are hunting for the teacher. Of course, as the ministry, we will charge the teacher and ensure that the minor is adequately supported.

Gokwe Teacher Pictured Groping Schoolchildren Flees

Murwira Primary School headmaster, only identified as Mr Mugonesi is under investigation by the police for sexual abuse of pupils after images of him squeezing their private parts leaked online.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson in Midlands Province Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the development. He said:

I can confirm that we have received the case and investigations into the matter are currently underway.

Reports claim that the school recorded a 0% pass rate in the 2022 Grade Seven Zimbabwe School Examination Council (ZIMSEC) examinations.
One of the parents who commented in a WhatsApp group alleged that the school head was getting intimate with schoolchildren. Said the parent:

We are calling on organisations to do with girl child rights and protection to intervene.
This old man has been molesting kids and getting intimate with them. Let us make noise and help these vulnerable girls.

Police Investigating Gokwe School Head For Sexually Abusing Learners

A Bulawayo man on Wednesday killed his wife in cold blood and went on to sexually abuse her corpse in full view of the couple’s two minor children.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident that occurred on 7th December 2022 at a house in Cowdray Park in Bulawayo. 
He identified the suspect as Judge Evans Zinzombe (36). Said Asst Comm Nyathi:

The suspect allegedly sneaked into the room where his wife Pholomina Mabika (32), daughter (12), and son (7) before strangling her to death with his hands.
The suspect and his wife were reportedly having marital disputes which forced them to sleep in separate rooms.
After the callous murder, the suspect allegedly went on to sexually abuse the body in full view of his children.
The children spent the whole night with the body before a police report was made in the morning.

Police later said the body of the suspect was found hanging in a local church in Cowdray Park.

Man Kills Wife, Sexually Violates Her Corpse In Front Of Couple’s Children

At least 220 minors were raped in the country between January and September 2022, Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Minister Sithembiso Nyoni has revealed.
Nyoni released the statistics on Friday at the national commemorations of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) at Maramba Primary School in Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe District, Mashonaland East province. She said:

Statistics from the police show that during the period of January to September 2022 a total of 435 rape cases were reported and of these, 58% involved minors. This figure is too high to be ignored.
In addition, a total of 959 sexual violence cases and 1 038 domestic violence cases were reported during the same period.
These are figures of reported cases, but we are fully aware that so many similar cases go unreported all in the name of preserving the family name.
During the course of the year, we have also witnessed very shocking cases of sexual abuse of children.
These experiences have pained us, and we need to say a big “no” to gender-based violence (GBV) to preserve and save human life and the future of our children, especially girls.

Nyoni noted that in the majority of cases, parents and guardians are the perpetrators or facilitators of the abuse. She said:

The recent spike in child sexual abuse cases, some of which result in minors falling pregnant and then dying while giving birth is disturbing.
What is more disheartening to note is that in the majority of these cases, parents and guardians who are expected to be protecting these minors, are being found either as perpetrators or as facilitators of the abuse and even concealing these issues to protect the perpetrators.

Zimbabwe Women Resource Centre and Network executive director Dorothy Hove said there should be stiffer penalties for offenders that will act as a deterrent. She said:

What angers me when it comes to the rights and abuses of children is that the justice system is failing us.
It’s up to the justice system to just say today we are putting a stop to the abuse of children.
The component of the justice system is that there are legal provisions and sentences that are pre-set for perpetrators against violence and against children but we are saying can they be reviewed to be a bit stiffer because they are not stiff enough to deter them from wanting to commit a crime. 
Why not consider maybe life sentencing or 40 years with a lot of hard work to accept that what they did was wrong?

220 Minors Raped Inside 9 Months - Minister Nyoni

A 17-year-old Form Three at Mpanedziba Secondary School in Tsholotsho has been arrested for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl from the same school.
The suspect allegedly cornered his victim in one of the school classrooms after he found her searching for her textbook.
Acting Matabeleland North Province Community Relations and Liaison Officer Assistant Inspector Christopher Mahohoma confirmed the arrest. He told <a href="https://vicfallslive.co.zw/tsholotsho-student-up-for-rape/">VicFallsLive</a>:

On the 19th day of November 2022 and at Mpanedziba Secondary school, the victim went into her form one classroom looking for her missing Ndebele textbook.
She found the suspect seated on top of a desk alone and she did not mind the presence of the suspect and continued with the search of her textbook.
During the process, the suspect stood up, grabbed the victim by her T-shirt, and dragged her into a classroom storeroom which was not locked and he then raped the victim once.

Mahohoma said after committing the crime, the suspect fled from the scene.
The matter came to light when the victim narrated the sexual assault to the matron who then reported the matter to the police.
In another rape case, police in Lupane have launched a manhunt for Caspar Twala of Shabula Range under Chief Mabikwa who allegedly raped his eight-year-old daughter on Monday. Said Mahohoma:

On the 20th day of November 2022, the victim and her other two siblings were left in the custody of their biological father Caspar Twala by their grandmother.
It was during the absence of the grandmother when the suspect called the victim into his bedroom hut where he rapped her once.

Twala allegedly used his hands to forcibly close her daughter’s mouth to prevent her from screaming. Added Mahohoma:

After the act, the suspect threatened to beat the victim if she discloses the act to anyone.
The victim did not take heed of the threats and narrated to her grandmother what happened to her upon her arrival back home.
The grandmother quickly took the victim to the police and lodged a police report before taking her for a medical examination.

Tsholotsho Girl (14) Raped By Fellow Student Inside Classroom

The Zimbabwe Gender Commission (ZGC) has started investigations into the alleged sexual exploitation and abuse of women by Walter Magaya, a self-styled prophet.
Magaya is the founder and leader of Prophetic and Healing Deliverance Ministries church.
ZGC said an investigation into Magaya’s conduct was gazetted on 23 August 2019, but he launched a court challenge, stalling the investigation.
The commission said the courts have since handed down judgements which have allowed it to continue with the probe.
The ZGC is therefore inviting people who have sexual exploitation and abuse complaints against Magaya to come forward and present their cases. ZGC said:

The Zimbabwe Gender Commission wishes to advise members of the Public that the Zimbabwe Gender Commission in its Commission meeting number 38 on the 4th of August 2022 resolved to recommence the investigation of the allegations of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse of Women levelled against Prophet Walter Magaya of Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries.
The investigation which was gazetted on the 23rd of August 2019 (General Notice No.1444/2019) was halted by the Legal Challenge launched by the key respondent Mr Walter Magaya (Prophet Magaya).
We are happy that the courts have given legal judgements (SC592/19, HC 7347/19 and HH688/19) which have paved the way for the continuance of our processes.
As such, we are calling on all citizens who might have complaints of sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) involving the conduct of Walter Magaya to present particulars of their complaints to the Zimbabwe Gender Commission.

Walter Magaya Under Probe For Alleged Sexual Abuse Of Female Congregants

A Zimbabwean domestic worker was allegedly sexually exploited by her employers in Pretoria, South Africa before she was summarily fired.
According to the United Domestic Workers of South Africa (UDWOSA), the members of the family the Zimbabwean woman was working for allegedly used her as a slave and an object for their sexual pleasures.
She was also made to work from Monday to Sunday including public holidays and was underpaid.
UDWOSA said the husband, wife and one of their sons who are all from Saudi Arabia, sexually harassed and abused the woman in their home in Pretoria.
The Zimbabwean domestic worker was employed by the family in 2019. She said from 2020 to 2021 she has been called by the wife to her bedroom on numerous occasions when her husband and other children were not home and be forced to massage her genitals with olive oil.
She also revealed other incidents of sexual harassment by other members of the family which to date have left her traumatised.
The domestic worker was dismissed on 24 August 2022 when the family said they are going back to their country.
UDWOSA said some local and foreign employers take advantage of especially desperate migrant labourers and abuse them. It said:

These employers use this precarious position and vulnerability of the desperate migrants to super-exploit them i.e. have them work for longer hours for extremely meagre compensation. In other instances like this one, they take advantage and sexually abuse them.

The union has reportedly taken steps for justice and legal recourse for the domestic worker in the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) for the unfair dismissal.
UDWOSA is said to have reported the woman’s employers to the South African Police Service (SAPS) for sexual abuse.
The South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU) has demanded justice for the domestic worker. It said:

Zim Domestic Worker Used As Sex Slave, Exploited And Dismissed

Australia-based Zimbabwean socialite Susan Mutami on Friday repeated her claims that she was sexually abused by President Emmerson Mnangagwa several times from the time she was only 15 and in Form Three.
Mutami further claimed she was sexually abused by Mnangagwa’s political ally Owen “Mudha” Ncube.
She narrated claims of abuse by Mnangagwa mainly in Shona in a four-hour Twitter Spaces that she hosted on Friday.
Twitter Spaces is a feature on the microblogging site that allows users to have live open and unfiltered audio discussions or any and every topic and conversation.
It was listened to by more than 13 000 audience members, an audience enough to fill an average small stadium in Zimbabwe, such as White City, Sakubva or Mucheke, reported The NewsHawks. Said Mutami:

I met Mnangagwa during a sports gala, where he was a guest of honour. He was driving a green Jeep and greeted me as his niece. I did not want to humiliate him, so I played along. 
He then said ‘when you close schools come to the party office and see me. Just say you want to see sekuru when you get there’.

Mutami said she did not visit him during those holidays, only to later meet him by chance. She said:

In 2004 when I was in Form 3, I bumped into him again at Wimpy in Kwekwe. He asked why I didn’t come to see him.
He went further to ask if my fees had been paid in full view of all people who were there.
He gave me two million dollars in bearers’ cheques, which at the time was what teachers were earning. He was in the company of his long-serving aide, Temias Shumba.
. . . The next time that I met him, he was in a car and he showed me his privates and asked me if I knew what it was.
He said ‘chinonzi chinhu chadaddy’ (this is daddy’s stuff). We were in the car; he used to drive himself so he asked me to touch his penis. It was the third time I was meeting him.
In 2004, during the second term holidays, we bumped into each other again. Those who know Mnangagwa know that he used to hang out at Golden Mile Hotel with the likes of July Moyo.
He took me to Golden Mile Hotel. I was so innocent at the time and did not think he would do anything to harm me.
That is when he slept with me. I did not tell anyone. He actually raped me because I did not consent to it.
He insisted that he would only do it once or twice. He did exactly that and the next thing I had blood all over.
He said you are now a grown woman you can no longer play with boys because you will fall pregnant.
</blockquote>
Mutami said she didn’t speak about the abuse for many years as she feared being judged and retribution. She said:

All of Mnangagwa’s colleagues like July Moyo and security aides knew of the abuse.
</blockquote>
Mutami said that when her father died in a car accident on 24 May 2005 when she was in Form 4.
She said her mother then enrolled at Morgenster to upgrade her nursing qualifications, while her siblings enrolled at boarding schools.
Now that she was left alone, Mnangagwa offered to pay her fees and asked her to move to his Sherwood Farm in Kwekwe, she claimed.
Mutami said at the farm, Mnangagwa continued to sexually abuse her, although he was allegedly also in a sexual relationship with his accountant, who was also staying at the farm. She said:

[First Lady] Auxillia [Mnangagwa] did not like the fact that ED was helping me with school fees and I didn’t tell her that there was something going on.
So she was so mean and rude. One day she spilled water onto the bed where I slept with the maid at 2 AM, and she asked us to wake up and clean the house at that time and we woke up to do that with the maid.
She once beat me up asking who between ED and Shumba (his aide) I was sleeping with. I was in so much fear and I couldn’t say anything.
She brought out a gun and told me that she was once a CIO (Central Intelligence Organisation) and could kill me. I was only 16.

Mutami said the sexual abuse continued even after she had left the country for Australia. She said:

Whenever I came back from Australia, ED would book me at Meikles. The first time (upon my return) he wanted to sleep with me, I asked for protection because of the grapevine of his HIV infection.
He left the room unhappy after asking me where I got the audacity to ask him for protection.

Contacted for comment by The NewsHawks on these various and serious allegations, Presidential spokesperson George Charamba, said this was mere, gossip. Said Charamba:

Susan Mutami Reveals More Details In Alleged Sexual Abuse By Mnangagwa

Women Excel Trust (WET), has urged parents to monitor their children at all times to protect them from possible sexual abuse.
This follows a viral video of a 2-year-old girl being sexually abused by her mother’s boyfriend.
In a statement, WET expressed shock over the video and demanded that the perpetrator be prosecuted. The statement reads:

Whilst we are still celebrating ‘Day of the African Child’, under this year’s theme: “Eliminating Harmful Practices Affecting Children…” these which include child abuse in all forms, it has come to our attention the video circulating on various social media platforms of a 2-year-old girl being sexually abused by her mother’s boyfriend.
We are appalled and deeply saddened by such a horrendous incident. Adults are supposed to be protectors of children but what has become of the society when they are turning out to be the main perpetrators of abuse?
As Women Excel Trust, we have zero tolerance for such kind of behaviour that impedes the child’s mental, health, moral and social development.
Children’s rights also entail the legal protection of children in conditions of freedom, security and dignity.
As such, we demand justice to be served accordingly. We call upon policymakers to enact stiffer penalties for such perpetrators.
We urge parents to monitor their children at all times and do away with the tendency of putting children at the centre of their conflicts.

WET Deplores Viral Video Of Sexual Abuse Of Girl (2)

A 36-year-old woman who is facing allegations of sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy appeared in court this Wednesday facing aggravated indecent assault charges.
Rose Friday was remanded in custody and advised to apply for bail at the High Court when she appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi this Wednesday.
The State alleges that Friday forced the 12-year-old boy to have sexual intercourse with her without protection.
The court heard that the boy told his mother what happened leading to Friday’s arrest.
Meanwhile, Friday’s husband Kudakwashe Mugabe aged 27 is facing obstruction of justice charges after allegedly trying to force the boy to withdraw the charges by threatening to assault him.
The duo is expected back in court on the 28th of this month.

36-Year-Old Woman In Court For 'Sexually Abusing' A 12-Year-Old Boy

Some motorists in Harare are reportedly picking up boys living on the streets and sexually abuse them in their cars while girls are routinely gang-raped.
This was said by Harare provincial development coordinator Tafadzwa Muguti in a statement on Monday. Muguti said:
<blockquote>We also express displeasure and concern from reports that are coming through the provincial social welfare officer that there are some motorists who are now picking up these street children especially boys and abusing them in their cars, homes and secluded places.
This is truly sad and unacceptable in this new dispensation. We urge the public and the victims of such abuse to report these activities to the nearest police station or reach out to the social welfare offices in Harare.</blockquote>
Muguti said there are reports of substance abuse involving street children and also stealing from parked vehicles, harassing pedestrians and snatching food from people.
In order to combat the challenges faced by street children, Muguti said the government has now established safe homes for them which include Ruwa Rehabilitation Centre, Mt Hampden Youth Training Centre, Northcot Training Institution, Jamaica Inn and Beatrice Rehabilitation Centre.

Harare Motorists Sexually Abusing Street Boys

Mischevious men have taken advantage of the transport crisis to molest women who board the cheap but overcrowded ZUPCO buses.
This happens especially during the morning and evening peak hours when the few ZUPCO buses on the roads are overwhelmed with human traffic.
A victim of the abuse, Harare based citizen identified as Chipo Gwasira spoke to H-Metro. She said:
<blockquote>Yesterday there was pressure at the bus, I was trying to enter the bus and ended up being fondled on my private parts but never saw the person who did it.
As women, we do not have to be victims of bus pressure but we do not have control over it since the bus is the only affordable means of transportation because kombis are now expensive.</blockquote>
The transport blues have also negatively affected school-going children as they end up getting to school late. A concerned Harare resident had this to say:
<blockquote>Children are now in danger as some of them end up getting home late because of transport chaos, yesterday I saw some child in school uniform trying to force himself into the bus but ended up being pushed away by the conductor.
The government should allocate buses only meant for children in school uniforms for the safety of our children.</blockquote>
ZUPCO buses were re-introduced in January after the deadly fuel protests which had been ignited by a sharp rise in transport fares.
Wary of a repeat of the riots, the government immediately announced a 50% reduction of the ZUPCO bus fares after another fuel price hike was announced on Tuesday this week.

Women Sexually Abused When Boarding Overcrowded ZUPCO Buses

The Swedish Embassy has called for changes in attitudes of young men and young women after revealing that one in three females is sexually abused before the age of 25. Maria Selin the Embassy’s Head of Development Cooperation said Sweden was going to invest in culture as a way to address some of the challenges in Zimbabwe.
Said Selin:
<blockquote>After that we need to promote action that changes attitudes among young men and young girls towards child marriage and sexual abuse which I think is so much prevalent here in Zimbabwe.
One out of three girls before they reach the age of 25, are sexually abused in one way or another and it is horrible. It should not be like that.
But there was a time when we needed to understand, perhaps to a better degree, how we can connect the dots, that investment in culture can also be targeting development challenges because that is where we are coming from.

One in three females sexually abused before age 25

Higher and Tertiary Education deputy minister Dr Godfrey Gandawa has said that Government is in the process of crafting a law that will see teachers and lecturers that sexually abuse students in exchange of higher grades losing their certificates.
He said this at a graduation ceremony at Mkoba Teacher’s College in Gweru last week where he capped 417 graduands. Said Gandawa:
<blockquote>More often than not we have had rampant cases of abuse of children in schools by teachers who should be custodians of examplary behaviour. Teachers have raped or impregnated young girls. When this happens we start questioning the training and morality of that teacher. We are actually in the process of crafting a new law for high and tertiary education institutions which also includes private colleges and universities. In that same law that is where we are putting deterrent measure to make sure that we curb such practices.</blockquote>

Teachers & lecturers set to lose certificates for sexually abusing students

Female Students’ Network Trust programme director Mrs Evernice Munando told legislators that at least 74% of females at tertiary institutions had been subjected to sexual harassment by male lecturers, non-academic staff, security guards in return for higher marks, food and access to the campus.
While giving oral evidence before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Gender and Community Development chaired by Goromonzi West MP Beata Nyamupinga (Zanu PF), Munando said that her research conducted in 2015 showed that 85% of respondents knew of students who aborted unintended pregnancies while on campus.
She also said that the environment at Midlands State University also made female students vulnerable to abuse as accommodation is not only scarce but expensive. Munando also highlighted the need for sexual harassment policies and stated that only four institutions countrywide had such policies.
