Police have confirmed the arrest of two foreign nationals, Aruna Saidu and Foday Kamry, in connection with a series of robbery incidents in Harare and surrounding areas.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, 11 March, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the suspects were intercepted in Karoi, where they were apprehended following a high-speed chase and a shootout with the police. The statement reads:

On 9th March 2025, CID Homicide, Harare, and Police Special Tactics Troop, Chikurubi acted on a tip and tracked down the suspects who were reported to be in Karoi.
The officers intercepted the suspects near Spar Karoi leading to a high-speed chase and a shootout with the police.
The police disarmed the victims and recovered a white Mercedes Benz, an FN Browning Pistol, a Canik 55 pistol, two spent cartridges, and two magazines charged with 25 rounds, as well as other items including pepper spray, a screwdriver and a hammer.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police commends the public for providing valuable information that led to the suspects’ arrest.

Two Foreign Nationals Linked To Multiple Robberies Captured After High-Speed Chase And Shootout In Karoi

Police have confirmed the arrest of three suspects involved in smuggling second-hand clothes and the death of a fourth man following a shootout in Mutare on Wednesday morning.
In a statement issued on Thursday, October 17, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi announced the arrests of Phillimon Matiyashe (32), Tawanda Chafanza (33), and Owen Wenjere (29), as well as the death of Admire Tawanda Sibanda (40) during a shootout with police officers on October 16, 2024, at approximately 5:30 AM. Said Commissioner Nyathi:

A Police crack team on an anti-smuggling operation acted on received information and intercepted a MAN rigid truck, registration number AFG 7429 along Vumba Road, after Prince of Wales turn off, Mutare.
The truck was loaded with smuggled second-hand clothes and was being escorted by two vehicles, an unregistered silver Toyota Runx and a silver Toyota Mark X, registration number, AFY 1037 driven by the Admire Tawanda Sibanda.
The team flagged down the truck, but the driver sped off.
Another Toyota Runux vehicle, registration number AFH 8368 blocked the way and subsequently, Admire Tawanda Sibanda pulled out a pistol and fired towards the Police resulting in a shootout.
Admire Tawanda Sibanda was shot on the neck and succumbed to the injuries on the way to the hospital.
The Police Mahindra vehicle was shot resulting in two bullet holes on the front left fender.
Phillimon Matiyashe, Tawanda Chafanza and Owen Wenjere were later arrested by the Police after a speed chase.

Following the chase and subsequent arrests, police recovered 104 bales of second-hand shoes and 138 bales of second-hand clothes from the truck. Added Commissioner Nyathi:

Three men were caught smuggling second-hand clothes, and one man was killed in a shootout with the police. The police stopped a truck filled with smuggled clothes, and the driver tried to escape. Another man in a car blocked the way and shot at the police. He was shot and died. The police arrested the other three men after a chase and found lots of smuggled shoes and clothes. The police warn other smugglers not to fight back or they will face consequences.

Three Smugglers Arrested, One Killed In Shootout - ZRP

Three suspected armed robbers were shot dead during a shootout with detectives from CID homicide Bulawayo at Tuli River, Gwanda on Tuesday, 06 February.
In a statement released this Wednesday, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said three suspects, Pride Moyo (29), Newman Ncube and Ntokozo Ncube were fatally injured during the shootout while a fourth suspect, Simelweyinkosi Dube, escaped. Reads the statement:

Detectives from CID homicide Bulawayo acted on received information and intercepted four armed robbery suspects who were travelling in a green and white Toyota Hiace near the Tuli River en route to Freda Mine.
On seeing the detectives, the suspects started to fire towards the police officers and a shootout ensued. 
Resultantly, Pride Moyo, Newman Ncube and Ntokozo Ncube were shot and taken to Gwanda District Hospital where they died upon admission.
The detectives managed to recover a revolver 38 SPL with two live rounds, three empty cartridges and two pellet guns from the suspect’s vehicle. The suspects are linked to two robbery cases and an attempted murder case.
In one of the robbery cases which occurred on 30 June 2023 at Insindi Ranch House, the suspects who were armed with pistols, a hunting knife, knobkerrie and paper spray, attacked two victims before stealing US$7 800.00 cash, an FN 9mm pistol with a magazine of 13 rounds, a Cadix .38 revolver and jewellery valued at US$200.00.
In another robbery case which occurred on 01st January 2024 in Plumtree, the suspects who were armed with firearms attacked a victim before stealing US$74 000.00, ZAR25 000.00 and a motor vehicle.
The suspects are also linked to a case of attempted murder which occurred in Cowdray Park on 01st August 2023, where three Police Officers were injured during a shootout.
Meanwhile, Police are appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of Simelweyinkosi Dube who managed to escape from the scene during the shootout.

Three Armed Robbers Killed During Shootout With CID Homicide Detectives

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) statement on the fatal shooting of three armed robbery suspects in a shootout with the police in Kadoma:

ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS AFTER A SHOOT-OUT INCIDENT IN INGEZI, KADOMA
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of two foreign national armed robbery suspects after a shootout incident in which Peter Ngulube (38), Shylock Makoni (41) and Tendai Madiki (52) died at Tandara Shopping Centre, Ingezi, Kadoma.
On 05th December 2023, detectives from CID Homicide, Bulawayo acted on received information and arrested two foreign national suspects in Bulawayo.
The two suspects admitted to committing several armed robberies around Bulawayo and they revealed that they were in transit to Kadoma where they would meet their accomplices, Peter Ngulube, Shylock Makoni and Tendai Madiki intending to commit another robbery.
The two suspects led the detectives to Tandara Shopping Centre, Ingezi Kadoma where they positively identified the three suspects who were driving a silver Toyota Raider D4D registration number AFR 4376 to the detectives.
On seeing the detectives, the suspects opened fire whilst speeding off and a shootout ensued.
The detectives searched the suspects’ motor vehicle and recovered an A.38 Smith and Wilson Revolver with one round, seven spent cartridges, two gas-operated pellet guns, a bolt cutter, a crowbar, a machete, a pepper spray, two balaclavas and three pairs of woollen gloves.
Two suspects, Peter Ngulube and Shylock Makoni were seriously injured and were rushed to Kadoma General Hospital where they were pronounced dead.
Tendai Madiki was shot when he tried to run away during indications in Muzvezve, Kadoma where detectives were recovering other weapons used to commit criminal acts by the suspects. The suspect was taken to Kadoma General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The suspects are also clearing two (02) stock theft cases which occurred at Chivuyini Village, Chief Sitaudze, Beitbridge, where two she-goats were stolen and another which occurred at Chogomere Village, Chief Matibe, Beitbridge where two goats were stolen.

Three Armed Robbery Suspects Killed In Kadoma Shootout With Detectives

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi has confirmed the arrest of armed robbery suspects after a shootout incident in Harare. Below is a statement released by Asst Comm this Tuesday:

ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS AFTER A SHOOT-OUT INCIDENT IN RIDDLERIDGE, HARARE
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of armed robbery suspects Brighton Mangondo (35) and Gerald Rutizira (38) after a shootout incident in which another suspect Tanaka Living Nyaude Madzima (29) died. The incident occurred in the Riddleridge area, Harare on 6th November 2023.
The suspects were initially part of an armed robbery gang comprising Tinotenda Zhuwawo Dzvairo (27), Tinashe Ray Chirombo (31), Trymore Derere Guta (30), Hebert Clayton Nyamangodo (39), Mugove Chimuti (36) (deceased) and Ishmael Mutungira (30) (deceased) who were arrested in July 2023.
On 06th November 2023, detectives from CID Homicide, Harare arrested Brighton Mangondo after receiving information that he was hiding at a house in Glenview 3, Harare.
Gerald Rutizira was later arrested after he was lured by Brighton Mangondo to Amsterdam, Southlea Park, Harare.
The arrest led to the recovery of a 12-bore Khan Arms shotgun at Gerald Rutizira’s residence in Amsterdam, Southlea Park, Harare.
Gerald Rutizira led detectives to the Boka area where Tanaka Madzima was allegedly hiding. Subsequently, a 9 mm Star pistol, 08 X 09 mm live rounds and a 0.22 RG 12 Revolver were recovered at Tanaka Madzima’s residence in Frezer area, Ushewekunze, Harare.
Tanaka Madzima tried to run away as detectives were trying to recover a pistol and ammunition in the Riddleridge area resulting in an exchange of fire. The suspect died on admission at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.
The suspects are linked to four robbery cases including a robbery case that occurred at Afrochine Smelting Company, Darwendale on 30th June 2023where cash, cellphones and laptops valued at US$8 000 were stolen, as well as a robbery case that occurred on 06th July 2023 at Unadale Farm, Beatrice where a Khan Arms shotgun, two cellphones and US$ 3 800 cash were stolen.
The gang is also clearing a robbery case that occurred on 11th July 2023 at a brick company in Chinhoyi where US$ 1 420 cash, three cellphones and three blankets were stolen.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police warns robbery syndicates that operations to account for all suspects are in full swing and will ensure that all criminal groups involved in robbery cases are brought to justice.

Armed Robber Gunned Down During Shootout With Detectives

The death toll following a shootout between South African police and a gang of heavily armed cash-in-transit (CIT) robbers in Limpopo Province on Friday has risen to 19.
Police swooped in on a luxury villa in Makhado on Friday evening.
National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola that police intended “to arrest them before they go out and commit the crime”.
However, the police officers were met with gunfire by the gang and a shootout, which lasted about 90 minutes, ensued.
Initially, Police said 18 suspects were killed during the shootout, but while processing the scene on Saturday, they found another body of a male.
<a href="https://ewn.co.za/2023/09/03/limpopo-shootout-death-toll-rises-to-19-officer-loses-leg">Eyewitness News</a> quoted the Provincial Communication Officer at Limpopo Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks), Matimba Maluleke, as saying:

As we were busy processing the scene, we discovered another body in the house. That brings the total of the deceased persons to 19 – 17 males and two females.
</blockquote>
He said police also discovered three vehicles allegedly stolen in Gauteng. Said Maluleke:

A seasoned Hawks officer involved in Friday’s shooting, Lieutenant Colonel Joe Coetzer, was injured during the shootout and has had his leg amputated.
Police said Coetzer was airlifted to hospital following the shootout. Despite medical intervention, surgeons could not save his leg.
Police Minister Bheki Cele said the fatal shooting of the suspects sent a strong message to criminals that police wouldn’t hesitate to respond to criminality.

Death Toll In Limpopo Shootout Rises To 19

A “notorious” armed robber was injured and arrested following a shootout with police in Rushinga on Sunday.
The suspect, Mike Humbasha (35), was shot and injured by the police while resisting arrest on 13 August.
In a post on the social media site, X, formerly known as Twitter, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), said:

The ZRP confirms the arrest of a notorious and wanted armed robbery suspect Mike Humbasha (35) in Rushinga today during a shootout incident with police officers who intended to effect an arrest.
The suspect is now admitted at a local hospital under guard.

In an unrelated incident, Police said they have launched an investigation “in connection with a video which has gone viral in which two men are seen viciously assaulting a victim for allegedly stealing from them in the Nyatsime area.”

Armed Robber Injured In Police Shootout In Rushinga

Two armed robbers were reportedly killed in a shootout with detectives in Chitungwiza on Friday.
<a href="https://www.zimlive.com/2-notorious-armed-robbers-killed-in-shootout-with-police-in-chitungwiza/">ZimLive</a> reported that Mugove Chimuti (33), and Ishmael Mutungira (28), were wanted for armed robbery cases committed in Chinhoyi, Beatrice, Harare and Norton.
They were tracked by detectives to their hideout at a house in Chitungwiza, but they reportedly refused to surrender and opened fire on detectives.
The suspects were shot and died from their injuries at the scene, and police recovered two rifles and two revolvers during a search of the house.
Chimuti and Mutungira have been in and out of jail since 2017 when they were charged with 23 counts of armed robbery.
Mutungira previously served time in jail after he was arrested in Bulawayo and had six pistols in his possession.
The two suspects were once accused of robbing a mine in Chegutu and raping a police officer.
They were on bail for those and other cases when they were shot dead by the Police.
