ZANU PF Politburo member and Secretary for Information and Publicity <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Simon_Khaya_Moyo?utm_source=PindulaArticle&amp;utm_campaign=Pindula_Article">Simon Khaya Moyo</a> has died.
The former Information Minister and ambassador died on Sunday afternoon aged 76.
Moyo, who had been unwell for some time, was in September replaced by Mike Bimha as ZANU PF Acting Secretary for Information and Publicity.
He had been treated for cancer in India and South Africa in recent times but reportedly missed a ZANU PF politburo meeting two weeks ago as his health deteriorated.

ZANU PF Spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo Has Died

ZANU PF national spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo has distanced the ruling party from messages circulating on social media platforms claiming that the party intends to ban women and girls from wearing mini-skirts and trousers in public places.
Pindula News is publishing Khaya Moyo’s statement issued late Sunday afternoon, below:
<blockquote>The Revolutionary Party, ZANU-PF distances itself from circulating fake news saying the Party is lobbying or mooting for the disbandment of mini-skirts and trousers for women.
The fake news whose origins has been traced to an NGO allied to the opposition parties reflect the views of that organization and its handlers who have no respect for women, women’s rights and our culture.
The Liberation Struggle for the Independence of our Republic from colonial rule was fought and won by combat men and women and trousers had no gender.
The Party’s Women’s League was formed by combat women during the prosecution of the Liberation Struggle to commence work for post-colonial women empowerment programs and advancement in rights, status, opportunity and emancipation.
To this day, significant strides have been made by the ZANU PF Government to advance women’s rights through radical economic empowerment programs to ensure that women equal men in all spheres, economically, politically and socially.
It is therefore ridiculous that a giant mass Party formed and existing on the shoulders of an empowered Women’s League can be attributed to such trivia dressing. This false story reflects a new low for the MDC Alliance.
ZANU PF reminds political players that spreading fake news in the name of our leadership or Party as part of the so-called misinformation and disinformation agenda shall never salvage their falling political fortunes nor heal their factionalism and splits.
The People of Zimbabwe know too well, what ZANU PF, the Party of the masses stands for because it is theirs and in no way can they be misled by these desperate fake news peddling.
What is indeed disturbing and heartless is that such fake news is being generated in the name of our Acting National Commissar, Cde Patrick Chinamasa by heartless MDC Alliance groups at a time when Cde Chinamasa is indisposed and recovering at home following an accident recently.
These shameless levels of desperation reflect the immaturity, childish mentality, and an uncultured disposition in the MDC Alliance.
Surely, these opposition malcontents have become headless lost minds and need our prayers and sympathy and not ridicule.</blockquote>

ZANU PF: No Plans To Ban Women's Trousers And Mini-skirts

28 ZAPU members reportedly joined Zanu PF and the ruling party has reportedly admitted the group and said it was a clear sign that Zanu PF is a people-centred party, ZBC News reports.
The latest defections were revealed by Zanu PF Secretary for Information and Publicity,  Simon khaya Moyo, who at a Gwanda Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting when he said Joshua Nkomo told them to remain in Zanu PF nomatter what:
<blockquote>Zanu PF came as a result of Zanu pf and pf Zapu , and the late vice president had said we should remain in Zanu pf no matter what . It is unfortunate that some decided to leave the party , but that is water under the bridge now. As Zanu pf we want everyone to come back because we are a people ‘s party.</blockquote>
Zanu PF Provincial Chairperson, Cde Rabelani Choene also addressed the same meeting and told them they should contribute meaningfully to the party’s 2023 agenda:
<blockquote>As you are all aware the goal is to get to five million votes in the next elections, so as Matabeleland south we should be seen contributing meaningfully to achieving that goal.</blockquote>
Meanwhile, former MDC T Vice president Obert Gutu also joined Zanu PF this week and he said he wanted to be part of President Mnangagwa’s vision 2030.  ZAPU is yet to comment on the defections.

The ruling ZANU PF has accused MDC Alliance Vice President Tendai Biti of using the COVID-19 pandemic to gain political mileage after he had alleged that the party was to blame for COVID-19 deaths in the country. Below is the party’s statement.
<blockquote>PRESS STATEMENT ON THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC 
The Revolutionary ZANU PF Party led by His Excellency the President and First Secretary Cde ED Mnangagwa wishes to reassure all Zimbabweans that concerted effort is being applied to contain the COVID -19 pandemic which is now a global health menace.
The Covid 19 pandemic does not respect one’s age, status in life or political persuasions etc. So, for anyone to ascribe that the pandemic is targeting certain people of a political party is not only being mischievous but rather being highly irresponsible. Contrary to ridiculous insinuations by Tendai Biti in a story titled ‘ZANU PF to blame for COVID-19 deaths’ in today’s edition of the Newsday newspaper on page 3, the Revolutionary Party and its leadership is seized with continuously refining strategies meant to contain the Covid 19 pandemic.
It’s unfortunate that politically immature characters like Tendai Biti have sought to derive political capital out of such an unfortunate health challenge bedeviling not only Zimbabwe but the world at large. This deadly pandemic needs to be confronted with a united front. The WHO and Ministry of Health and Child Care guidelines and protocols of masking up, sanitization, regular washing of hands and social distancing need to be religiously adhered to. The Ministry of Health and Child Care has also issued restrictions including the expected numbers allowed to attend funerals which must be respected to the full.
The Revolutionary Party urges all patriotic Zimbabweans to spread the message of adherence to the WHO and Ministry of Health and Child Care protocols and guidelines to every comer of our nation. In the same vein, the Party urges people in leadership positions thus traditional leaders, church leaders, opinion makers, civic organizations etc. to join hands with Government in conscientising our people about this pandemic which is amidst us. 
The nation can only win this battle against the COVID-19 pandemic by tackling it head-on and by ignoring shallow and reckless statements as the one attributed to Tendai Biti. Such statements which have paraded Tendai Biti’s ignorance should be dismissed with the contempt they deserve.
The revolutionary Party urges all Zimbabweans to take heed of the wise counsel, by His Excellency, the President and First Secretary of ZANU PF Cde ED Mnangagwa, who has repeatedly called upon all people on every occasion to fight this deadly pandemic as one united family. A wartime approach needs to be applied in battling this deadly pandemic. That is indeed the way to go.
We mourn all the dead who have succumbed to this pandemic and pray for divide intervention. The prayers and fasting called for by the First Lady, Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa constitute the tonic to this national challenge.

ZANU PF Speaks On Biti's Claims It's "To Blame For COVID-19 Deaths"

Zanu PF national spokesperson, Simon Khaya Moyo has told the Herald that the party will soon be issuing its 2020 resolutions which are shaped by the party’s recently held Annual People’s Conference.
The ZANU PF conference resolved on a number of issues which the party said would be used to guide the government.
Among other things, the ZANU PF 18th Annual National People’s Conference that was held in Goromonzi, resolved to create jobs, establish gold centres and promote value addition and beneficiation.
The party also resolved that the collapsed industry needs to be revived, one of the avenues through which jobs can be created.

The nauseating and misleading media reports that there is a party calling itself the “ZANU PF Original” is an insult to the values and ethos of our liberation struggle which ushered in our freedom and independence in 1980.
Our sovereignty did not come on a silver platter. Thousands perished, hundreds were maimed, livestock was looted and property destroyed.
The armed liberation struggle was led by the revolutionary ZANU PF (ZANU Patriotic Front) party whose composition was the then ZANU and ZAPU parties with their armed liberation armies comprising of ZANLA and ZIPRA respectively.
All negotiations were held under the banner of the Patriotic Front. The facts are clearly captured in the Unity Accord Agreement of 22 December 1987.
The so-called Zimbabwe African National Unity PF (Original) never existed and the announcement of its formation is a malignant dream driven by the G40 malcontents.
The ruling revolutionary ZANU PF party warns its leadership and membership to remain vigilant and protect the people’s Party from political wolves whose major pre-occupation is to create chaos, alarm, despondency and instability in our beloved Nation.

ZANU-PF Responds To The Launch Of ZANU-PF Original Party {Full Text}

The ruling ZANU PF party on Thursday issued a statement condemning the ongoing xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
The party’s secretary for Information and Publicity, Simon Khaya Moyo, said that the attacks are a betrayal of the sacrifices made by African countries in the fight against apartheid. He said:
<blockquote>ZANU-PF is deeply perturbed by the current xenophobic attacks in South Africa and the attendant loss of lives and destruction of property.
The barbaric attacks on fellow African nationals by their social kind is unfortunate and off tangent with the values and ideals of Pan Africanism and the spirit of Ubuntu.
The revolutionary party ZANU-PF and its first secretary and President Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, extend heartfelt condolences to those who have lost loved ones and wish the injured a speedy recovery.
Further, the attacks betray the camaraderie and sacrifice that was exhibited by many African states, in particular, those in the Southern and Western Africa towards the fall of apartheid and the ultimate liberation of South Africa from shackles of colonialism.</blockquote>
The xenophobic attacks are characterised by the looting of businesses owned by foreigners, with haulages trucks being driven by foreign nationals being attacked as well.
Immigrants from various African countries were physically attacked with several deaths recorded.

ZANU PF Condemns South Africans' Xenophobia

The ZANU PF secretary for Information and Publicity, Simon Khaya Moyo has revealed that the party shall this year hold its 18th Annual National People’s Conference in Mashonaland East.
In a statement, Moyo announced:
<blockquote>The Zanu-PF national chairman Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri wishes to advise all party structures that the party’s 18th National People’s Conference will be held in Mashonaland East province in December.</blockquote>
Last year, ZANU PF held its annual conference in Esigodini where all party wings endorsed Mnangagwa as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 elections.

In a statement Zanu-PF spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo, said the recent votes of no confidence and dismissal of party members has the potential of destabilising the party.
This follows news of votes of no confidence in the party’s youth leaders Pupurai Togarepi, his deputy Lewis Matutu and three other executive members. Mary Mliswa was also removed from the party’s Mashonaland West structures. He said any action that is taken against members must be done in line with party regulations. Said Khaya Moyo:
<blockquote>The party notes with concern that disciplinary processes are being raised against party members without following proper procedures as set out in the party Constitution. Most recently, votes of no confidence were moved against some officials of the party National Youth Executive and there are reports of similar actions being initiated in some provinces. These developments have greater potential of fomenting disunity in the party and should stop forthwith. Previously, disunity forces under the G40 cabal used votes of no confidence to purge party members perceived to be against their destabilisation agenda. Summary dismissal of party officials through votes of no confidence should only be occasioned in extra ordinary circumstances and can only be passed upon the following grounds: gross incompetence and/or dereliction of duty, gross, misconduct, disloyalty and treachery.</blockquote>

Zanu-PF resolved that its Secretary Simon Khaya Moyo must set up a unit to propagate the party’s propaganda through all social media platforms.
The party also said Zanu-PF spokesperson is the one mandated to speak on its behalf. The resolutions were read by Jacob Mudenda. Said Mudenda:

Zanu-PF Secretary for Information and Publicity Simon Khaya Moyo said the party’s Politburo meeting which was set to be held in Harare tomorrow has been postponed to December 5.
Said Khaya Moyo:
<blockquote>The Politburo of the revolutionary Zanu-PF will meet on Wednesday 5 December 2018 at the party headquarters commencing at 10AM and not on 28 November as earlier advised. Any inconvenience caused is sincerely regretted.</blockquote>
The meeting is meant to discuss a number of issues ahead of the party’s national people’s conference in December. The  conference, which runs from December 10 to December 15 under the theme “Zimbabwe is Open for Business: In Unity and Peace towards an upper middle income economy by 2030”, is expected to attract 5 000 delegates drawn from the country’s 10 provinces.

Zanu-PF Politburo Meeting Postponed To December 5

In an interview with The Herald yesterday, spokesperson, Simon Khaya Moyo, said the party’s Politburo has set December 10 to 15 as the dates for its 17th Annual National People’s Conference to be held in Esigodini, Matabeleland South province.
The conference was initially set for Gwanda before the Politburo resolved that the event should be shifted to Umzingwane Boys’ High School in Esigodini for accommodation and logistical purposes. The conference, whose theme is “Zimbabwe is Open for Business: In unity and peace towards an upper middle-income economy by 2030”, is expected to attract 5 000 delegates drawn from the country’s 10 provinces. Said Khaya Moyo:
<blockquote>The conference is earmarked for December 10 to 15, 2018. There will be a Politburo meeting on Monday, the 10th of December and a Central Committee meeting on Wednesday the 12th of December 2018. Thursday, the 13th of December will be travelling and verification of delegates and then, of course, that is when there will also be tree planting and health and environmental activities at the venue.</blockquote>
President Mnangagwa will officially open the conference on Friday 14 December.

Zanu-PF Conference Dates Set

Zanu-PF has directed Government to ensure prices return to those ruling at the time before the pronouncement of the fiscal and monetary policy measures.
In a statement to ZBC News, Zanu-PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Simon Khaya Moyo said the government should immediately enforce the law to eliminate all forms of informal money market activities. He also said Government should consider revoking Statutory Instrument 64 of 2016.
Khaya Moyo appealed to members of the public to stop panic buying and hoarding activities. Zanu-PF has also called on all fuel suppliers not to withhold fuel supply and ensure that all necessary measures are taken to stop the commodity from ending up on the black market.

Speaking after a Zanu-PF Politburo meeting today. the party spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo said the party has merged its departments into 11 entities headed by full-time Secretaries.

Zanu-PF secretary for Information and Publicity and Senator for Matabeleland South Simon Khaya Moyo said legislators must avoid sleeping in Parliament.
Speaking to The Herald after the swearing-in of Parliamentarians from the National Assembly and Senate, Khaya Moyo also said legislators should attend sessions. Said Khaya Moyo:

Mukupe is reported to have said that the<a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2018/05/23/how-can-soldiers-who-snatched-the-country-from-mugabe-hand-it-over-to-chamisa-minister-mukupe/" rel="noopener" target="_blank"> military was not going to allow MDC-T leader Nelson Chamisa to rule if he won the 2018 elections</a>.
We publish the statement below in full:
<blockquote>In the wake of media reports (“Army won’t let Chamisa rule: Minister”) ascribed to Deputy Minister Terrence Mukupe who is also a Zanu-PF candidate in the forthcoming Harmonized Elections, both the ruling Zanu-PF Party and its Government wish to make it very clear that the said sentiments attributed to the Deputy Minister, if true, are both reckless and most unfortunate, as they do not represent the official position and attitude of the Party, Government and the Defence Establishment.
 
Apart from being unconstitutional and therefore against the laws of the land, the reported claims amount to direct contempt of His Excellency the President, Cde E.D. Mnangagwa, who is the sole Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF). Hardly a month ago, His Excellency the President and Commander-in-Chief of ZDF warned against undermining the constitutional position of the Security Establishment through involving or dragging members of the Uniformed Forces into the country’s party electoral politics and/or activities.
Through this directive, he unambiguously restated an iron-clad rule which ranks high among the pillars of our Constitution, and which finds validation in the various Acts governing operations of various arms of the National Security Establishment. Consequently any pronouncements which have the effect of undermining the supreme law of the land, and the authority of the Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Force, or of suggesting that our well-respected Security Organs will act in a partisan manner in relation to the country’s politics, apart from being unauthorized, are unlawful, reckless, improper, uncalled for and thus totally condemnable. Besides, they imperil national peace and stability, and amount to a frontal challenge to the tenets and practices of democracy as understood and practised worldwide.
Read against our two environment and the impending polls, such pronouncements have the negative effect of raising doubts on Government’s commitment to a free, fair and non-violent plebiscite, as well as to its readiness to respect and uphold the will of the People of Zimbabwe as expressed through their electoral choices and decisions. This is untrue, and flagrantly runs against what His Excellency the President, Cde E.D. Mnangagwa, has pledged and is determined to deliver both to the people of Zimbabwe and to the international community. Without regard to political party or affiliation, all campaigning candidates should respect the Defence Establishment and its Command Structure by avoiding embroiling our Uniformed Forces into partisan party politics and activities. The roles of the Uniformed Forces which are national and non-partisan, are clearly spelt out in the laws of the country.

In an interview with The Chronicle, Zanu-PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Simon Khaya Moyo, said no further grievances concerning primary elections will be entertained as the party was now focusing on campaigning for the upcoming elections.

No New Primary Election Reruns, Zanu-PF Now Focusing On Campaigning: Khaya Moyo

Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony for the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) head office construction project in Harare yesterday, Energy and Power Development Minister Simon Khaya Moyo said the project will create 200 jobs directly and indirectly over the next 18 months.
Said Khaya Moyo:
<blockquote>I am pleased to say that this project is coming at a time when the new dispensation is achieving its target of creating jobs and more jobs for the people. Such a project serves as an investor confidence booster to all potential investors in the energy sector and beyond. This office will serve as a model of green building, encompassing energy efficiency and deployment of renewable energy. It will have a solar Photovoltaic (PV) rooftop that will generate power for lighting, office operations, refrigeration and powering computer appliances.</blockquote>

Khaya Moyo said the Mnangagwa administration is seized with putting an end to corruption as evidenced by the number of cases before the courts. Said Khaya Moyo:
<blockquote>The tone from the executive has changed and high profile cases are being referred to the courts since the new government took charge. The courts are now more seized with hearing various corruption cases and this number has never been reached before. A number of public officers have been suspended. It is yet to be seen how the current cases before the courts will be finalised but for swift prosecution to take place as pronounced by President Mnangagwa, efforts on the same by the legislature and judiciary need to be complemented by the public. The fight begins with you dealing with corruption by preventing, detecting and reporting it and providing evidence in courts. At the moment that is where we require significant improvement as perpetrators are now being arraigned before the courts and convictions have been rare and current ones are still to be heard.</blockquote>

Support Mnangagwa's Fight Against Corruption: Khaya Moyo Urges Public

A delegation of four ministers in President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration is reported to have been denied Visas to attend an investment conference in the United Kingdom, Zimdaba London 2018 Conference. Only Minister of Mines and Mining Development Winston Chitando was granted a visa.
The four who failed to get the Visas are:

Cabinet Ministers Denied Visas For United Kingdom

Addressing journalists at the end of the 317th ordinary session of the Zanu-PF Politburo meeting in Harare today, the party’s secretary for Information and Publicity, Simon Khaya Moyo said those fired from the party last year, remain suspended for the next 5 years.
Said Khaya Moyo:
<blockquote>After hearing a report presented by the National Chairperson, Cde Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri, the Politburo endorsed that those expelled and confirmed by the 2016 Extraordinary Congress remain so and can only reapply for admission as stipulated by the party’s constitution.</blockquote>
The names of those who were expelled constituted mainly members of the G40 faction who include former Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko, former First Lady Grace Mugabe, Professor Jonathan Moyo, Saviour Kasukuwere and Patrick Zhuwawo.

Blow For G40 As Zanu-PF Politburo Upholds Expulsions

Addressing delegates at the official launch of the support to the media on governance and electoral matters in Zimbabwe programme in Harare, acting Minister of Information Simon Khaya Moyo said Government is working on introducing new television players in a bid to break the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation’s monopoly.
Said Khaya Moyo:
<blockquote>Currently, Government through the Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services is spearheading the digital broadcasting migration programme which slowly, but surely on account of limited resources, is gaining traction. Very soon we shall be witnessing real positive change in breaking ZBC monopoly over our airwaves as new television players come on board. And even before then, as soon as Government acquires set-top boxes, we should begin to roll out digital television services in areas that have proximity to digitalised transmitter sites.</blockquote>
The launch saw the European Union and Norway releasing about $1 million towards supporting and capacitating the media in the country.

Govt To Introduce New Television Broadcasters

Zanu-PF national spokesperson Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo yesterday said the party’s politburo will hold its first meeting of the year. 
Said Khaya Moyo:
<blockquote>I want to announce that there will be a Politburo meeting tomorrow (today) at the party’s headquarters in Harare. Members should be seated by 10AM. Any inconvenience caused to Politburo members through late communication is sincerely regretted.</blockquote>
Although he did not reveal the meeting’s agenda, Khaya Moyo noted that Zanu-PF’s politburo will discuss will discuss the economy and the progress of Command Agriculture.

Zanu-PF Politburo To Hold First Meeting Today

Zanu-PF spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo told ZBC News that the party’s politburo meeting which was supposed to be held today at the party headquarters in Harare, has been postponed to tomorrow.
He said all politburo members should be seated by 10 am at the party’s headquarters in Harare. As a result of the postponement of the politburo meeting, the party’s Central Committee meeting scheduled for tomorrow will now be held on Thursday 14 December 2017 at the same venue.

Zanu-PF politburo, central committee meetings postponed

Addressing journalists at the party’s headquarters in Harare yesterday, Zanu-PF Secretary for Information and Publicity Simon Khaya Moyo warned members against purging and allocating themselves positions based on the Central Committee resolution that was yet to be ratified.
The situation comes after Zanu-PF’s Central Committee on November 19, 2017 resolved to reinstate all members who were either suspended or expelled subsequent to the 2014 National People’s Congress. However the resolution is yet to be ratified. Said Khaya Moyo:
<blockquote>Pursuant to my statement of the 26th November, 2017 advising all provinces to stop purging party members and effecting co-options pending further directions from the party, the party is deeply disturbed and perturbed to note that such activities are still being perpetuated in some provinces and have even extended to national structures.
The party shall descend heavily on those members who will fail to pay heed to this instruction. The Central Committee at its sitting in special session on the 19th November, 2017, resolved that members from the provincial councils and subordinate organs (provincial, district and branch council) who were suspended or expelled from the party subsequent to the 2014 National People’s Congress should be reinstated to their positions. This resolution is together with the host of other resolutions is still to be ratified by the Extraordinary Congress prior to implementation. Party members must stop allocating themselves positions forthwith.</blockquote>
