Ngezi Platinum Stars captain <a href="https://pindula.co.zw/Qadr_Amini">Qadr Amini</a> was on Friday night crowned as the 2023 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Soccer Star of the Year.
The 33-year-old former Zimbabwe international, who captained the club as it won its first-ever Premiership title, was accompanied by his two wives to receive the Soccer Star of the Year crown. Said Amini:

According to a report by <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/qadr-rules-the-roost/">The Herald</a>, Amini pocketed US$7 500 for winning the Soccer Star of the Year award.
Dynamos midfielder Donald Mudadi, who finished as the first runner-up, received US$4 500, and Bulawayo Chiefs striker Obriel Chirinda who was the second runner-up, received US$3 750.
Ngezi Platinum Stars coach Takesure Chiragwi received the Coach of the Year award, for the first time.
Takunda Benhura won the Top Goal Scorer award after scoring 13 goals in his first full season. He received US$6 375.
Ngezi Platinum Stars were also presented with the league trophy by Guest of Honour, the Deputy Minister of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Emily Jesaya.
For the second year running, they were also named the Most Disciplined Team of the Year.
The club had three players on the 2023 PSL calendar, with goalkeeper Nelson Chadya and 22-year-old forward Takunda Benhura also joining Soccer Star Amini on the podium.
Highlanders goalkeeper Ariel Sibanda won the Goalkeeper of the Year award for his 19 clean sheets.
Dynamos youngster Elton Chikona was voted the Most Promising Player of the Year.
Herentals forward Tinotenda Benza, for the second year running was the Fans’ favourite.
Brighton Chimene won the Referee of the Year for the third time, having previously won it in 2016 and 2019.

Qadr Amini Crowned 2023 PSL Soccer Star Of The Year

FC Platinum striker Walter Musona was crowned the 2022 Soccer Star of the Year and his coach, Norman Mapeza, won the Coach of the Year award at a ceremony held in Harare on Friday night.
Musona’s 14 goals and six assists helped FC Platinum to win their fourth consecutive league championship.
CAPS United’s William Manondo was named the First Runner Up, while Frank Makarati of Dynamos scooped the Second Runner Up award.
The trio was picked from the 11 finalists chosen last month.
Manondo also picked his Golden Boot award after scoring 17 goals last season and had 12 assists.
Musona received a US$5 000 cash prize, Manondo got US$3 000, and Makarati received US$2 500.
The Fans’ Player Of The Season went to Herentals’ Tino Benza, who also picked the Chibuku Super Cup Golden Boot award.
Musona succeeded Joel Ngodzo, who won it in 2019 when it was last held.
The 2020 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season failed to kick off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nelson Chadya of Ngezi Platinum Stars got the Goalkeeper of the Year award and his club received the Most Disciplined Team of the Year award.
Jayden Barake of relegated WhaWha received the Most Promising Player of the Year.
The Referee of the Year award was given to Martin Chivandire, with Faith Mloyi coming as the first runner-up.
The award finalists were voted for by a panel of 50 journalists, 18 PSL coaches, and their club captains.
