A 43-year-old man, Duncan Chiwaya, was allegedly fatally stabbed by his wife in Mabvuku, Harare, amid accusations of infidelity.
<a href="https://www.zbcnews.co.zw/woman-kills-hubby-over-infidelity/">ZBC News</a> reported that when their crew arrived, police had just removed Chiwaya’s body, leaving relatives to clean the bloodstains in the house.
Chiwaya’s mother, Janet Dumbu, expressed her shock, saying she was unaware of any marital issues and was devastated to find her son lying in a pool of blood with his wife nearby.
A neighbour, Ellen Luundi, who acted as a mediator in their marriage, revealed that the couple had been experiencing problems. She recounted:

They have been having problems. The wife accused Chiwaya of infidelity. Last week she had packed her bags intending to quit the marriage and I helped them reconcile.
</blockquote>
Luundi added that she received missed calls from Chiwaya in the morning morning. When she tried to return his call, it was too late; a child came to her door with the tragic news.
Chiwaya, who was employed by the Women’s University in Africa, leaves behind a three-year-old child with his wife.

Mabvuku Woman Kills Hubby In Knife Attack Over Infidelity

A 33-year-old woman named Siphiwe Ndlovu died in hospital after allegedly being assaulted by her husband and subsequently jumping from the third-floor window of their apartment at Burombo Flats in Bulawayo on Saturday night.
Witnesses claimed that the couple had been struggling financially, a situation that may have led to repeated instances of gender-based violence in their home.
Ndlovu succumbed to her injuries at Mpilo Central Hospital on Sunday, a day after her fall. Her husband, Meluleki Ndlovu, 44, has since been arrested and is facing murder charges. He was due to appear in court on Tuesday.
According to a neighbour of the couple who spoke to <a href="https://cite.org.zw/woman-dies-after-fall-from-flat-during-marital-dispute/">CITE</a> on the condition of anonymity, a heated argument was heard from the couple’s flat around 10 PM.
Meluleki was reportedly confronting his wife over a phone number he had found on her phone. Said the source:

The argument started around 10 PM. The husband demanded answers about a number he had seen on his wife’s phone.
An hour later, she fell from the window of their flat, landing on the ground below. She broke her leg and sustained other injuries. She was taken to hospital, but sadly, she died yesterday afternoon.

Acting Bulawayo Police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident. She said:

Police confirm the arrest of Meluleki Ndlovu a male adult aged 44 of Burombo flats Bulawayo in connection with a murder case of his wife Siphiwe Ndlovu a female adult aged 33.
</blockquote>
According to Msebele, Meluleki assaulted Siphiwe inside their locked flat. To escape, she stepped onto a sofa and jumped out of the window. She added:

She fell and landed on her stomach whilst still holding keys to the house in her right hand. She sustained a fractured right leg, swollen stomach and was bleeding from the nose and mouth.
A neighbour who saw her falling took the keys from the now deceased’s hand and unlocked the door for the accused to come out.
Upon realising that the now deceased was injured, the accused person called an ambulance and took her to Mpilo Central Hospital where she was admitted in a serious condition.

The deceased’s aunt, Patience Phiri, told the <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/woman-jumps-to-death/">Chronicle</a> that the family faced financial hardship, as both the husband and wife were unemployed. She said:

Meluleki was self-employed and transported client goods in a push cart around the Renkini Bus Terminus area and my niece occasionally did piece jobs such as doing laundry and cleaning other people’s houses.
The family struggled financially and to add to that the husband drank heavily. The financial situation in their home could have been the reason Meluleki beat his wife a lot.

Phiri added that the couple had been together for about 10 years and had a nine-year-old daughter. She said:

My niece was naked when she fell from that window and I’m here to pack some clothes so that we can dress her body at the mortuary.
The funeral wake will be held at our family home in Mzilikazi and family members have started gathering there.
She was killed like an animal and we will make sure that her death is avenged.

Woman Dies After Third-Floor Jump During Marital Dispute

A police officer from Buhera, Cuthbert Mupfuki, was sentenced to 15 years in prison by the High Court after brutally murdering his wife, Brenda Manyara, with an Okapi knife. The attack occurred amid rumours that she was seeing another man, reported <a href="https://www.manicapost.co.zw/police-officer-kills-wife-over-infidelity-rumours/">The Manica Post</a>.
Mupfuki, 37, from Nechiwowe Village in Chief Nyashanu, was found guilty of murder under Section 47(1) (a) or (b) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23. At the time of the crime, he was a member of the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s Support Unit, Sierra Troop, in Changadzi.
During sentencing, Mutare High Court Judge Justice Isaac Muzenda said he considered that Mupfuki had paid 30 head of cattle as reparation to the deceased’s family.
The court heard that on October 10 2023, Mupfuki stabbed Manyara multiple times, resulting in her death at the scene. A post-mortem conducted by Dr Elisha Murasiranwa at Birchenough Bridge Hospital determined that respiratory failure due to trauma was the cause of death.
Witness Constance Gwemba, a niece of the victim, testified that she was at Mupfuki’s home with Manyara and other family members when Mupfuki invited Manyara to their bedroom.
Shortly after, Gwemba heard screams for help but found the door locked. Peering through a window, she saw Mupfuki pressing Manyara against the wall while accusing her of wanting to degrade him by dating a local villager, Joseph Murwisi.
Mupfuki later dragged Manyara’s body to the passage and opened the door, walking away while declaring it was better for him to be in prison than with a “cheating” wife. Gwemba discovered Manyara lying on the floor, bleeding profusely from her chest and with a deep cut on her left hand.
At around 9 PM that evening, Mupfuki called villager Chipo Madidi, instructing her to gather everyone at the homestead. When he returned, he stated that he knew why he had killed Manyara.
Another witness, Mupfuki’s daughter Barbra, recounted hearing her mother being beaten and later witnessing her father emerge, claiming he would turn himself in to the police.
Madidi testified that when she arrived at the scene, she found Manyara’s lifeless body in the sitting room. Mupfuki admitted over the phone that he had killed Manyara due to her supposed affair with Joseph Murwisi.
Murwisi himself testified that on the evening of the incident, he was attacked by Mupfuki while cycling home.
Mupfuki struck him with a log, causing him to fall. Despite his injuries, Murwisi managed to escape, leaving his bicycle and groceries behind.
After the attack, Murwisi heard people crying at Mupfuki’s home; he sustained bruises and a swollen arm from the assault.

Police Officer Gets 15 Years For Killing Wife In Jealous Rage

A 40-year-old man from Sakubva in Mutare died after he fell off from the fourth floor of Matida Flats while wrestling with his lover’s estranged husband.
Tawanda Chirenje (25) allegedly caught the now-deceased Gift Saungweme in a compromising position with his wife, Phillipa Dariyani (25).
Saungweme and Dariyani were at a friend’s apartment.
ZRP spokesperson in Manicaland Province, Inspector Nobert Muzondo, said police have launched a manhunt for Chirenje. He said:

Chirenje had caught Dariyani drinking beer with Saungweme in a friend’s apartment. He assaulted her with the flat side of a machete, booted feet, and fists and proceeded to assault Saungweme.
They wrestled towards an open window and as they wrestled, Saungweme fell off the window from the fourth floor. He sustained head injuries and died on Monday morning.
We are treating the matter as a murder incident as the circumstances are all pointing that way.
As the police, we urge people not to take the law into their own hands and not to use violence when such matters arise.

Dariyami’s friend, Shallon Maisera, in whose apartment the two lovebirds were caught red-handed, told <a href="https://www.manicapost.co.zw/cheat-falls-from-4th-floor-window/">The Manica Post</a> that she had been drinking with Dariyami and Saungweme at the bar that night. She said:

I offered them my apartment because her children were sleeping in her apartment, which is on the third floor.
The three of us had been drinking in my apartment when Saungweme sent me to buy more beer and it was already past midnight.
When I came back, I was shocked to find Chirenje inside my apartment with the lovebirds.
Dariyani was crying and begging Chirenje to forgive her. I knocked and Chirenje opened the door for me.
He told me that he had caught the two in bed and that he wanted to kill them. I tried to stop him but he pushed and locked me outside.
Shortly afterward, he came out and told me that Saungweme had jumped off the window. He then walked away after that.

Maisera said Dariyami was assaulted all over her body with the machete.
She said when they rushed downstairs, Saungweme who was still alive but badly injured asked for some water. Said Maisera:

I asked him if he had been pushed off the window or if he had jumped but he kept saying ‘pakaipa’ so we rushed him to the hospital where he died later on.
