France-based Warriors striker Tinotenda Kadewere has been ruled out of Zimbabwe’s upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Kenya and Cameroon due to injury.
Kadewere, who plays for Nantes in Ligue 1, aggravated his injury during a match against Marseille over the weekend, despite scoring Nantes’ lone goal in a 2-1 defeat.
As a result, the striker will miss Zimbabwe’s home game against Kenya on Friday at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, followed by the away fixture in Cameroon four days later, which will be the final match of the campaign.
A source close to the team confirmed Kadewere’s injury to <a href="https://www.sundaymail.co.zw/kadewere-injured-again">The Sunday Mail</a>. Said the source:

The injury was sustained during a match against Marseille and, as a result, he is currently sidelined and underwent a scan to determine the extent of the damage. The scan showed the extent of the injury and he is now out for four weeks.
He had been hoping to get cleared and had already communicated his position with the coach. Both parties were hoping that after the assessment he would still have a chance to join the camp.
Tino is a bit frustrated as he wants to also contribute something to the team as they seek to secure their ticket to next year’s edition.

The 26-year-old, who is on a season-long loan to Real Mallorca, suffered a serious injury to the quadriceps of his right leg on the eve of a match against La Liga reigning champions Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu two weeks ago.
Initial reports had suggested that Kadewere would require surgery after his injury setback but doctors ruled that it is not necessary.

Warriors striker Tinotenda Kadewere scored four goals for Olympique Lyonnais popularly known as Lyon during the club’s friendly match against Swiss side US Port-Valais.
The match was Lyon’s first in four months and Tino’s first for the club he joined this season from French Ligue 2 side Le Havre where he was the top goal scorer.
Kadewere scored the second goal for the club after former Manchester United striker, Memphis who also scored a quadruple, had converted a penalty in the 7th minute.
The 24-year-old striker later scored the cub’s 5th, 6th and 7th goals. His goals came in the 14th, 22nd, 27th, 33rd.
