Linda Masarira, the founder and leader of the <a class="mw-redirect" href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Labour,_Economists_and_African_Democrats" title="Labour, Economists and African Democrats">Labour, Economists and African Democrats</a> (LEAD) party, has urged the government to “stop milking” motorists dry following an addition of more tollgates. She said on X:

Another tollgate added just before Chivhu and another one before Marondera. The development will make it 2 tollgates from Harare to Marondera and 4 tollgates from Harare to Mutare. The government of Zimbabwe must be reminded that money does not grow on trees. Overburdening motorists with more tollgates after increasing the tariffs is the highest level of inconsiderate behaviour about the plight of the already overtaxed Zimbabwean. We need a pro-poor government that considers the plight of the people they govern. Stop milking us dry!

The government through the Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA) <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/2024/01/04/zinara-has-announced-an-increase-in-toll-fees-effective-5-january-2024/">increased toll fees effective 5 January 2024</a> as a measure to raise more revenue. 
On the Harare/Beitbridge and Plumtree/Mutare which are dubbed “premium roads,” toll fees for light motor vehicles have been raised from US$2 to US$4. On all other roads, the increase is from US$2 to US$3. This decision was initially made by Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube in the 2024 National Budget, but it has faced criticism from the public.
Here are the new toll fees for different vehicle classes:
A. On Premium Roads:

B, On Other Roads:
– Light Motor-Vehicle: USD 2.00 (old tariff), USD 3.00 (new tariff), ZWL$ 18,600 (tariff exempted) 
– Minibuses: USD 3.00 (old tariff), USD 5.00 (new tariff), ZWL$ 31,000 (tariff exempted) 
– Buses: USD 4.00 (old tariff), USD 6.00 (new tariff), ZWL$ 37,200 (tariff exempted) 
– Heavy Vehicles: USD 5.00 (old tariff), USD 8.00 (new tariff), ZWL$ 49,600 (tariff exempted) 
– Haulage Trucks: USD 10.00 (old tariff), USD 15.00 (new tariff), ZWL$ 93,000 (tariff exempted) 
– Residential Per Term: USD 40.00 (old tariff), USD 60.00 (new tariff), ZWL$ 372,000 (tariff exempted)
Please note that Motorcycles are exempted from paying toll fees.

Stop Milking Us Dry! - Linda Masarira As Government Adds More Tollgates

The Zimbabwe National Roads Administration (ZINARA) has announced new toll fees with effect from 15 June 2023.
Motorcycles are exempted from paying toll fees but light motor vehicles will pay US$2.00 or ZWL$11 960 with effect from tomorrow.
Minibuses will pay US$3.00 or ZWL$17 940, buses will pay US$4.00 or ZWL$23 920, and heavy vehicles will pay US$5.00 or ZWL$29 900.
Haulage trucks will pay US$10.00 or ZWL$59 800, while residential per term has been set at US$40.00 or ZWL$239 200.

ZINARA Hikes Toll Fees Effective 15 June 2023

The <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/ZINARA">Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA)</a> has announced Toll fees that will be effective from Monday 20 March 2023.
In a notice seen by Pindula News, ZINARA said Toll fees in foreign currency remain unchanged. Reads the notice:
We would like to advise our valued customers that with effect from 20 March 2023, the following ZWL toll fees will apply in terms of Section 4 of Statutory Instrument 32 of 2021.
<ul>
<li>A motorcycle is Exempted from paying toll fees.</li>
<li> Light Motor Vehicles US$2 or ZWL$1 900 </li>
<li>Minibuses US$3 or ZWL$2 850 </li>
<li>Buses US$4 Or ZWL$3 800 </li>
<li>Heavy Vehicles US$5 Or ZWL$4 750 </li>
<li>Haulage Trucks US$10 Or ZWL$9 500 </li>
<li>Residential Discount Per Term US$40 Or ZWL$38 000</li>
</ul>
Toll fees in foreign currency remain unchanged.

ZINARA Announces Toll Fees Effective 20 March 2023

The government has hiked toll gate fees. This came to light in a government gazette published today that stated that light motor vehicles will now pay $45 per vehicle and gave a further breakdown of the new fees and stated that minibuses will pay $70, buses $90 while trucks and haulage trucks will pay $115 and $225 respectively.
