Premier Soccer League (PSL) newcomers Scottland FC have appointed Tonderai Ndiraya, former head coach of Simba Bhora, as their new head coach.
Scottland confirmed the appointment on their social media platforms on Monday, January 6.
Ndiraya, who led Simba Bhora to the 2024 PSL title, takes over from Genesis Mangombe, who secured Scottland’s promotion to the top flight by winning the Northern Region Soccer League title last year.
Both Ndiraya and Mangombe are former Dynamos coaches, with Ndiraya being succeeded by Herbert “Jompano” Maruwa and Mangombe by Lloyd “Mablanyo” Chigowe.
According to <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/simba-bhora-undergoes-major-overhaul-ndiraya-13-players-leave-psl-champions/">The Herald</a>, in preparation for his new role, Scottland sponsored Ndiraya’s three-week trip to Turkey as part of an exchange program with Kocaelispor, a First Division club in the Turkish Football Federation second tier.
Ndiraya returned from Turkey over the weekend, just in time for his unveiling.

Scottland were officially crowned Northern Region Soccer League champions this week after the ZIFA appeals committee upheld the Northern Region Soccer League Disciplinary Committee’s decision, dismissing Karoi United’s appeal over the controversial abandonment of their match in September.
The club, owned by Pedzai “Scott” Sakupwanya, is reportedly making significant moves in the transfer market, having already secured five players from Simba Bhora.
These include captain Walter Musona, goalkeeper Talbert Shumba, midfielders Mthokozisi Msebe, Vassili Kawe, and Tichaona Chipunza, who are set to join the Mabvuku-based side ahead of the new season.

Simba Bhora head coach Tonderayi Ndiraya has said the club has not yet made a decision on whether to participate in the upcoming CAF Champions League, despite securing a spot by winning the Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League (PSL) title.

In just their second season in the topflight, Simba Bhora clinched the PSL title with two games to spare, earning the right to represent Zimbabwe in the prestigious CAF Champions League.
The title win marked a historic achievement as Simba Bhora became only the fourth team, after St Paul’s Musami, Ngezi Platinum Stars, and FC Platinum, to win the championship outside of Harare and Bulawayo.
Simba Bhora also made history as the first team from Mashonaland Central Province to claim the PSL title.
St Paul’s Musami was from Mashonaland East, Ngezi Platinum is based in Mashonaland West, and FC Platinum is based in Midlands Province.
Simba Bhora will next face FC Platinum at Wadzanai Stadium before travelling to Nyamhunga Stadium to take on ZPC Kariba on the final matchday of the season.
Simba Bhora remains undefeated at home, and a win or draw against FC Platinum on Saturday will ensure an unbeaten home record for the league campaign.

Simba Bhora Weighs CAF Champions League Participation

Simba Bhora’s boosted their chances of clinching the 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) championship by beating CAPS United 2-1 in an exhilarating match at Wadzanai Stadium on Saturday.
Despite being reduced to 10 men in the 55th minute and having their 1-0 lead cancelled four minutes later, the Tonderai Ndiraya-coached side showed resilience.
The man of the match, Vasilli Kawe, scored the equalising goal and provided a crucial assist, helping Simba Bhora extend their lead to 63 points, nine points clear of second-placed FC Platinum, who lost to Dynamos on Sunday.
Kawe scored in the 40th minute after being set up by captain Walter Musona, wrong-footing keeper Ashley Reyners.
Despite a hamstring injury, Reyners remained in the game and conceded the goal before being substituted.
CAPS United, motivated by a promise of US$1,000 each for a win, equalised in the 59th minute through Jayden Bakare’s header from an Eric Manokore freekick.
Earlier, CAPS United’s Harrison Masina received a second yellow card for a late tackle.
Simba Bhora found the winning goal in the 74th minute through Tymon Machope’s header from a Kawe cross.
Simba Bhora have an impressive home record since March, with 13 wins and three draws in 16 matches.
Speaking after the game, Ndiraya said that their focus is on the next match and maintaining their lead ahead of the crucial encounter with FC Platinum in the penultimate game of the season. Said Ndiraya:

Ndiraya will join the Shamva-based side that was promoted into the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after winning the ZIFA Northern Region Division One League title last year. 
Simba Bhora have been under the guidance of Arthur Tutani who will take up the assistant coach’s role. 
In a statement, Simba Bhora secretary-general Taurai Janhi said:

The club did not explain why it decided to part ways with Ndiraya but it is understood that the failure to win the league title cost the coach his job.

Speaking at a send-off dinner in Harare on Thursday, Ndiraya, who has since been linked with the newly promoted side, Simba Bhora, said:

Dynamos Football Club’s former coach, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Tonderai_Ndiraya">Tonderai Ndiraya</a> has spoken on his tenure at the Harare-based club for the first time since his departure.
In a statement seen by Pindula News, Ndiraya, through his Business Manager, Gerald Maguranyanga, said he is warmly indebted to the Dynamos FC Executive Committee. Reads the statement released this Thursday:

Mr. Tonderai Ndiraya, as previously shared by Dynamos FC, departs the club on 2022 December 31, at the expiry of his contract.
For the record: Mr. Ndiraya officially assumed his football leadership role at the club in 2019 May. Due to Covid19, the PSL League for 2020 was cancelled. Only the Chibuku Super Cup was competed for in 2021. 2022 was Mr. Ndiraya’s supposed full season in charge.
Sadly, the same 2022 season was hampered by an untimely mid-season suspension; which ill-timed suspension created intolerable anxiety amongst the players and the coaching staff at the club. Mr. Ndiraya endured the unfortunate suspension when the club was sitting pretty on top of the PSL Log. Naturally, such unsettling action affected the team’s subsequent performances.
Whilst the final Position 3 of 18 achieved by Dynamos FC on the PSL log was not glorious, it is also not abject failure considering the prevailing difficult conditions of service at Dynamos FC.
Mr. Ndiraya is warmly indebted to the Dynamos FC Executive Committee, led by Mr. Isaiah Mupfurutsa (Mr. Mupfurutsa is a relentless, honest professional on any day) for the fantastic opportunity they availed to him to coach Zimbabwe’s biggest FC franchise, popularly “the Glamour Boys.”
Mr. Ndiraya takes pride in his devoted professional approach to coaching, notwithstanding the terrain. It is the same never-say-die attitude Mr. Ndiraya, beloved as a midfield dynamo at the club, will take into his unfolding, promising future.
Dynamos FC is ultimately bigger than any one person: player, coach, executive, or even any founding board member. “Chazunguza” will one fine day, find her feet as in the glorious days of old.

Dynamos Football Club has resolved not to renew head coach Tonderai Ndiraya’s contract when it expires on 31 December.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, 15 November, Dynamos said they will always remember the work Ndiraya did for the club first as a player and then as a coach. Reads the statement by Dynamos:

Stanza, as Ndiraya is referred to by DeMbare fans, replaced Lloyd “Mablanyo” Chigove in 2019.
While Dynamos did not reveal the reasons why they decided to part ways with Ndiraya, the youthful coach failed to win a single trophy despite oil company Sakunda Holdings bankrolling the Harare giants.
The Glamour Boys failed to reach the Chibuku Super Cup final and finished third in the Premier Soccer League and this may explain the DeMbare hierarchy’s decision to not renew Ndiraya’s contract.

Ndiraya To Leave Dynamos, Club Announces

Dynamos coach Tonderai Ndiraya said that his squad has made significant progress this season and will be ready to challenge for the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title next season.
The Glamour Boys were knocked out of the Chibuku Super Cup by FC Platinum after losing 4-2 on penalties at the quarterfinal stage.
DeMbare were beaten to the title by eventual winners FC Platinum, who won it for the fourth time in a row.
Ndiraya explained that the Dynamos couldn’t fight for the title this season because most of the players were new to the club and needed time to adjust to the “pressure” of playing for the club. He said:

For most of the guys, it’s their first full season with us and it’s extremely difficult for most of them to handle the pressure.
But I am happy that with that pressure, the team has done extremely well. It has been a learning curve for some of them.
You know how it is with our team. It’s difficult because of pressure. But going forward, I guess most of them would know what it is to play for Dynamos and the pressure associated with the team.
It is about handling the pressure associated with our team. Of course, some of them I thought they handled the pressure quite well.
Otherwise, it was going to be disastrous. Despite getting nothing out of the season, I think we must also give it up to those players who joined us this year — quite a number of them – for the show they put up.
Of course the expectations were so high but you can’t assemble a team in one season and win the title.
Football is a process and we are in the process of building a team. It’s my feeling that if we retain most of the players that we have and add a few in the areas that need to be reinforced, the team will be strong next year and will be up for competition.

Dynamos coach Tonderai Ndiraya has implored fans to rally behind the team saying jeering players at this stage of the season will only put them under more pressure.
This comes after a section of the DeMbare supporters turned on Ndiraya and his players after their goalless draw against Triangle last week.
The draw followed a 1-0 defeat to Yadah Stars a fortnight ago which saw Dynamos lose ground to FC Platinum and Chicken Inn in the race for the title.
Speaking ahead of the 2021/22 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against Cranborne Bullets this Saturday at Vhengere Stadium, Ndiraya said:

Ndiraya Unhappy With Players' Indiscipline

The Young Warriors will host Mozambique for the second leg of their Under-23 Nations Cup second round qualifier at the National Sports Stadium tomorrow.
The Young Warriors managed a goalless draw in the first leg in Maputo last Friday but now need a victory of any margin in order to advance. A scoring draw will see Mozambique progressing to the second and final qualifying round.
The final of the Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled for Egypt in November with eight teams taking part including the hosts. Zimbabwe will be hoping to make the final tournament, which is also serving as the 2020 Olympic Games qualifiers. The top three will represent Africa at the Olympics.

Young Warriors Host Mozambique In AFCON Qualifier

Warriors coach Tonderai Ndiraya has trimmed his provisional squad to 18 men, who will travel to Mozambique for the AFCON U23 tournament.
The Young Warriors are set to kick off their qualifying campaign against Mozambique in Maputo on March 22 before hosting their neighbours in Harare four days later.
Here is the final 18-man squad for the trip to Mozambique:
Goalkeepers: Martin Mapisa (Velez CF, Spain), Nelson Chadya (Ngez Platinum).
Defenders: Reward Mwakona (Ards, N. Ireland), Mbongeni Ndlovu (Highlanders), Peace Makaha (Manica Diamonds), Shadreck Nyahwa (Bulawayo Chiefs).
Midfielders: Tatenda Tavengwa (Harare City), Marlvin Kwinjo (Ngezi Platinum), Kudzai Dhemere (Dynamos), Seth Patrick (VfB Luebeck, Germany), Matifadzi Zata (Dundee United, Scotland), Anelka Chivandire (Triangle United), Nicholas Guyo (Ubuntu Cape Town, S.A).
