Simba Bhora head coach Tonderayi Ndiraya has said the club has not yet made a decision on whether to participate in the upcoming CAF Champions League, despite securing a spot by winning the Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League (PSL) title.
In an interview with <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/simba-bhora-in-caf-champions-league-limbo/">State media</a>, Ndiraya said that if the club chooses to enter the prestigious continental competition, it will need to sign high-quality players capable of competing at the highest level. Said Ndiraya:

We need to sit down as management and see if we want to play in Africa or not, but that is more of an administrative decision.
From a technical team point of view, we want to compete at this level, and that is a different challenge altogether.
While we will retain the bulk of our players, we also plan to enhance our squad to become more competitive than we were this season.
We will be facing champions from other countries, and that will not be easy. I have some experience of African football with Ngezi Platinum, Dynamos, and the national team.
I believe that this international experience will help us if we get the nod from the club leadership. We don’t want to go there just to make numbers.

In just their second season in the topflight, Simba Bhora clinched the PSL title with two games to spare, earning the right to represent Zimbabwe in the prestigious CAF Champions League.
The title win marked a historic achievement as Simba Bhora became only the fourth team, after St Paul’s Musami, Ngezi Platinum Stars, and FC Platinum, to win the championship outside of Harare and Bulawayo.
Simba Bhora also made history as the first team from Mashonaland Central Province to claim the PSL title.
St Paul’s Musami was from Mashonaland East, Ngezi Platinum is based in Mashonaland West, and FC Platinum is based in Midlands Province.
Simba Bhora will next face FC Platinum at Wadzanai Stadium before travelling to Nyamhunga Stadium to take on ZPC Kariba on the final matchday of the season.
Simba Bhora remains undefeated at home, and a win or draw against FC Platinum on Saturday will ensure an unbeaten home record for the league campaign.
At the start of the season, Simba Bhora made headlines by signing 11 new players, a move that has paid off in their remarkable title-winning run.

Simba Bhora Weighs CAF Champions League Participation

Simba Bhora’s boosted their chances of clinching the 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) championship by beating CAPS United 2-1 in an exhilarating match at Wadzanai Stadium on Saturday.
Despite being reduced to 10 men in the 55th minute and having their 1-0 lead cancelled four minutes later, the Tonderai Ndiraya-coached side showed resilience.
The man of the match, Vasilli Kawe, scored the equalising goal and provided a crucial assist, helping Simba Bhora extend their lead to 63 points, nine points clear of second-placed FC Platinum, who lost to Dynamos on Sunday.
Kawe scored in the 40th minute after being set up by captain Walter Musona, wrong-footing keeper Ashley Reyners.
Despite a hamstring injury, Reyners remained in the game and conceded the goal before being substituted.
CAPS United, motivated by a promise of US$1,000 each for a win, equalised in the 59th minute through Jayden Bakare’s header from an Eric Manokore freekick.
Earlier, CAPS United’s Harrison Masina received a second yellow card for a late tackle.
Simba Bhora found the winning goal in the 74th minute through Tymon Machope’s header from a Kawe cross.
Simba Bhora have an impressive home record since March, with 13 wins and three draws in 16 matches.
Speaking after the game, Ndiraya said that their focus is on the next match and maintaining their lead ahead of the crucial encounter with FC Platinum in the penultimate game of the season. Said Ndiraya:

The idea is for us to focus on the next game. But I don’t want to lie that we are not focusing on crossing the line. The idea is to maintain the six-point gap until we get to the FC Platinum game.
We knew we were up for a very tough task today, especially coming from defeats in the Cup and against Herentals.

Simba Bhora faced CAPS United while still reeling from a disappointing loss to Herentals in the league.
In their following match, they were eliminated from the Chibuku Super Cup by Ngezi Platinum Stars.
Looking ahead, Simba Bhora face relegated Arenel Movers in Bulawayo midweek. They will return home to host FC Platinum at Wadzanai Stadium, before wrapping up the season with a challenging game against ZPC Kariba.

CAPS United has incentivised its players with a cash reward of US$1,000 each for a victory against Premier Soccer League (PSL) title favourites Simba Bhora in their upcoming match at Wadzanayi Stadium in Shamva on Saturday, November 2, reported <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/caps-united-dangle-us1k-bonus-simba-bhora-title-charge-faces-hurdle/">The Herald</a>.
According to CAPS United president Farai Jere, offering incentives has been a successful strategy for the club, as it has resulted in wins for Makepekepe in the past. He said:

But coming to the game on Saturday, I think it’s an equally important game for us as it is also important for them.
It’s important for us because we lost the first game we played at Rufaro, obviously after having dominated throughout the match.
We lost through a goal that I thought we could have avoided from a free kick, that was one of the very disappointing action for the entire match.
So we have a good reason to play that match and correct the wrongs of the past and we are looking forward to it with a lot of hope that we can go there and win.
But one thing I can assure you is that it’s going to be a difficult game, Simba Bhora have been on a roll.

Simba Bhora coach Tonderai Ndiraya said that his players got overexcited after scoring first against FC Platinum, resulting in their 1-2 at the National Sports Stadium on Saturday.
Ronald Chitiyo scored for the Premiership debutants in the 52nd minute before the man of the match Juan Mutuza scored two headers in the final 10 minutes to give FC Platinum the win.
In his post-match interview, Ndiraya said his players failed to convert the few opportunities they created in the first half. He said:

It’s an issue of concentration, they got overexcited (after taking the lead) and in the end, we dropped all the points at home and I’m very disappointed.
We had done our research on FC Platinum pretty well, and I thought we had done well.
We got some opportunities, which is very rare when you play against the champions.
We were just supposed to take the few opportunities we created in the first half.
We were very solid in the first half, I thought the game was balanced and in the second half, as I said, it was an issue of concentration.
Maybe it was because we scored a bit too early, but that’s when we lost it.
We failed to close down the passing lanes, and the introduction of Walter (Musona) and Perfect (Chikwende) brought in a lot of experience.

FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza said it was crucial to accumulate points at the start of the season. He said:

Ndiraya Bemoans Players' "Overexcitement" In Loss To FC Platinum

Former Dynamos coach <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Tonderai_Ndiraya">Tonderai Ndiraya</a> has been appointed as Simba Bhora’s substantive head coach in a three-year deal. 
Ndiraya will join the Shamva-based side that was promoted into the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after winning the ZIFA Northern Region Division One League title last year. 
Simba Bhora have been under the guidance of Arthur Tutani who will take up the assistant coach’s role. 
In a statement, Simba Bhora secretary-general Taurai Janhi said:

We, as Simba Bhora, are delighted to announce the appointment of Tonderai Ndiraya as the head coach of Simba Bhora on a three-year contract. We settled for Ndiraya because we believe he has the qualities that we need in a coach. 
Ndiraya is a coach who is development-oriented, believes in giving a chance to upcoming players and is focused on growth. With his experience, having coached at Dynamos and Ngezi Platinum Stars, we believe he will be able to usher us into the Premier Soccer League.
We are already in the process of upgrading Wadzanai stadium so that we play all our home matches in Shamva. Our team is also a vehicle for the marketing and development of Shamva and the whole of Mashonaland Central Province. We have future plans to make Shamva and Mashonaland Central Province the epicentre of football development in Zimbabwe.

He takes over from Tutani who is ineligible to coach in the Premier Soccer League as he doesn’t possess the requisite CAF A coaching licence. Dynamos finished third in the 2021/2022 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League campaign.

Tonderai Ndiraya Appointed Simba Bhora Head Coach After Leaving Dynamos

Outgoing Dynamos coach Tonderai Ndiraya has expressed gratitude to the club’s leadership and players for their support during his tenure as the club’s head coach.
Last month DeMbare announced they will not renew Ndiraya’s contract which is set to expire on 31 December.
The club did not explain why it decided to part ways with Ndiraya but it is understood that the failure to win the league title cost the coach his job.
The Glamour Boys finished third behind champions FC Platinum and runners-up Chicken Inn in the 2022 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaign.
Speaking at a send-off dinner in Harare on Thursday, Ndiraya, who has since been linked with the newly promoted side, Simba Bhora, said:

We meet to part, and I think at this moment it’s time that we part ways. But I appreciate all the support that I had throughout my tenure.
I really appreciate the support I got throughout my stay here.
Unfortunately, there are not many of the players around, but they are represented by the captain (Jaure) and I want to pass my gratitude and my sincere thanks to the whole team.
The support that I got from the team as a whole has been great.
When I say a team, I mean everyone involved with the Dynamos clan, and I want to say that I appreciate you all.

Dynamos Football Club’s former coach, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Tonderai_Ndiraya">Tonderai Ndiraya</a> has spoken on his tenure at the Harare-based club for the first time since his departure.
In a statement seen by Pindula News, Ndiraya, through his Business Manager, Gerald Maguranyanga, said he is warmly indebted to the Dynamos FC Executive Committee. Reads the statement released this Thursday:

Mr. Tonderai Ndiraya, as previously shared by Dynamos FC, departs the club on 2022 December 31, at the expiry of his contract.
For the record: Mr. Ndiraya officially assumed his football leadership role at the club in 2019 May. Due to Covid19, the PSL League for 2020 was cancelled. Only the Chibuku Super Cup was competed for in 2021. 2022 was Mr. Ndiraya’s supposed full season in charge.
Sadly, the same 2022 season was hampered by an untimely mid-season suspension; which ill-timed suspension created intolerable anxiety amongst the players and the coaching staff at the club. Mr. Ndiraya endured the unfortunate suspension when the club was sitting pretty on top of the PSL Log. Naturally, such unsettling action affected the team’s subsequent performances.
Whilst the final Position 3 of 18 achieved by Dynamos FC on the PSL log was not glorious, it is also not abject failure considering the prevailing difficult conditions of service at Dynamos FC.
Mr. Ndiraya is warmly indebted to the Dynamos FC Executive Committee, led by Mr. Isaiah Mupfurutsa (Mr. Mupfurutsa is a relentless, honest professional on any day) for the fantastic opportunity they availed to him to coach Zimbabwe’s biggest FC franchise, popularly “the Glamour Boys.”
Mr. Ndiraya takes pride in his devoted professional approach to coaching, notwithstanding the terrain. It is the same never-say-die attitude Mr. Ndiraya, beloved as a midfield dynamo at the club, will take into his unfolding, promising future.
Dynamos FC is ultimately bigger than any one person: player, coach, executive, or even any founding board member. “Chazunguza” will one fine day, find her feet as in the glorious days of old.

Dynamos Football Club has resolved not to renew head coach Tonderai Ndiraya’s contract when it expires on 31 December.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, 15 November, Dynamos said they will always remember the work Ndiraya did for the club first as a player and then as a coach. Reads the statement by Dynamos:

Stanza, as Ndiraya is referred to by DeMbare fans, replaced Lloyd “Mablanyo” Chigove in 2019.
While Dynamos did not reveal the reasons why they decided to part ways with Ndiraya, the youthful coach failed to win a single trophy despite oil company Sakunda Holdings bankrolling the Harare giants.
The Glamour Boys failed to reach the Chibuku Super Cup final and finished third in the Premier Soccer League and this may explain the DeMbare hierarchy’s decision to not renew Ndiraya’s contract.

Ndiraya To Leave Dynamos, Club Announces

Dynamos coach Tonderai Ndiraya said that his squad has made significant progress this season and will be ready to challenge for the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title next season.
The Glamour Boys were knocked out of the Chibuku Super Cup by FC Platinum after losing 4-2 on penalties at the quarterfinal stage.
DeMbare were beaten to the title by eventual winners FC Platinum, who won it for the fourth time in a row.
Ndiraya explained that the Dynamos couldn’t fight for the title this season because most of the players were new to the club and needed time to adjust to the “pressure” of playing for the club. He said:

For most of the guys, it’s their first full season with us and it’s extremely difficult for most of them to handle the pressure.
But I am happy that with that pressure, the team has done extremely well. It has been a learning curve for some of them.
You know how it is with our team. It’s difficult because of pressure. But going forward, I guess most of them would know what it is to play for Dynamos and the pressure associated with the team.
It is about handling the pressure associated with our team. Of course, some of them I thought they handled the pressure quite well.
Otherwise, it was going to be disastrous. Despite getting nothing out of the season, I think we must also give it up to those players who joined us this year — quite a number of them – for the show they put up.
Of course the expectations were so high but you can’t assemble a team in one season and win the title.
Football is a process and we are in the process of building a team. It’s my feeling that if we retain most of the players that we have and add a few in the areas that need to be reinforced, the team will be strong next year and will be up for competition.

Dynamos are currently in third place with 57 points, three behind second-placed Chicken Inn with one match to the end of the season.
Their final game of the season is against cross-town rivals CAPS United and will be hoping that Chicken Inn fall to Triangle, which will place both teams on 60 points.

Dynamos Ready To Challenge For Title Next Season - Ndiraya

Dynamos coach Tonderai Ndiraya has implored fans to rally behind the team saying jeering players at this stage of the season will only put them under more pressure.
This comes after a section of the DeMbare supporters turned on Ndiraya and his players after their goalless draw against Triangle last week.
The draw followed a 1-0 defeat to Yadah Stars a fortnight ago which saw Dynamos lose ground to FC Platinum and Chicken Inn in the race for the title.
Speaking ahead of the 2021/22 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against Cranborne Bullets this Saturday at Vhengere Stadium, Ndiraya said:

I wouldn’t want to talk much about what transpired in our last match but basically when you coach and play for Dynamos there is always pressure.
You are expected to win each and every match but that is unlike football.
Of course, the agitation from the supporters is there but we still have time.
There are still so many games to be played and if we start to be agitated at the halfway stage of the season, what if we were in this situation towards the end of the season.
It will be something very different so it’s important for the fans to rally behind the team, to support the players so that we get the results that everyone wants.
But if we then jeer the players, and put pressure on the team, then it becomes different.
We have got so many new players in the team who are not so used to playing under extreme pressure.

Ndiraya said some of the players have been at Dynamos for less than seven months but they now understand what is expected of them at the club. He said:

Of course, the players now understand what it means to play for the team but we have had them here for less than seven months and we shouldn’t be putting them under pressure but rather give them all the support that they need for them to perform for our team.
In good and in bad times the fans must always be pushing the boys and supporting the players. 
We have also been talking to the players making sure that they understand the team that they play for.
We are the biggest club football team in the country and playing for that team comes with a lot of pressure and must be getting used to it.
Going forward and with more time, I believe they will understand what they really supposed to be doing.

Rally Behind The Team, Ndiraya Urges Dynamos Supporters

Newly appointed Dynamos coach, Tonderai Ndiraya’s first game in charge was a 1-1 against Telone on Sunday.
Dynamos had a player, Godfrey Mukambi, sent off for allegedly using foul player towards the referee.
In his post-match conference, Ndiraya expressed disappointment with Mukamba’s 66th-minute sending off. Said Ndiraya:
<blockquote>In the second half, we pushed a bit more, but the disciplinary issues disturbed us. I don’t know what transpired but I suspect it was a case of descent and we had our player dismissed. That’s bad especially when you are in a situation like this.
We had gone for four games without a win, and you have players behaving like this, putting pressure on your team.
Credit to those who remained, they played for over twenty minutes with a man down, and that’s not an easy job.</blockquote>
Having equalised in the 55th minute through Cameroonian Vincent Mbega after trailing from a first-half Munyaradzi Mawadza own-goal, DeMbare was not able to double their goal tally with a numerical disadvantage.

Ndiraya Unhappy With Players' Indiscipline

The Young Warriors will host Mozambique for the second leg of their Under-23 Nations Cup second round qualifier at the National Sports Stadium tomorrow.
The Young Warriors managed a goalless draw in the first leg in Maputo last Friday but now need a victory of any margin in order to advance. A scoring draw will see Mozambique progressing to the second and final qualifying round.
The final of the Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled for Egypt in November with eight teams taking part including the hosts. Zimbabwe will be hoping to make the final tournament, which is also serving as the 2020 Olympic Games qualifiers. The top three will represent Africa at the Olympics.

Young Warriors Host Mozambique In AFCON Qualifier

Warriors coach Tonderai Ndiraya has trimmed his provisional squad to 18 men, who will travel to Mozambique for the AFCON U23 tournament.
The Young Warriors are set to kick off their qualifying campaign against Mozambique in Maputo on March 22 before hosting their neighbours in Harare four days later.
Here is the final 18-man squad for the trip to Mozambique:
Goalkeepers: Martin Mapisa (Velez CF, Spain), Nelson Chadya (Ngez Platinum).
Defenders: Reward Mwakona (Ards, N. Ireland), Mbongeni Ndlovu (Highlanders), Peace Makaha (Manica Diamonds), Shadreck Nyahwa (Bulawayo Chiefs).
Midfielders: Tatenda Tavengwa (Harare City), Marlvin Kwinjo (Ngezi Platinum), Kudzai Dhemere (Dynamos), Seth Patrick (VfB Luebeck, Germany), Matifadzi Zata (Dundee United, Scotland), Anelka Chivandire (Triangle United), Nicholas Guyo (Ubuntu Cape Town, S.A).
Strikers: Delic Murimba (Triangle United), Junior Zindoga (Maritzburg United, S.A), Prince Dube (Highlanders), Aubriel Chirinda (Chicken Inn).
