A 25-year-old woman from Triangle in the South East Lowveld has been charged with murder after allegedly throwing her two young daughters into a water canal before attempting suicide last week.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said Blessing Chiromonye was arraigned before the Chiredzi Magistrates’ Court on Monday and was remanded in custody to January 23, 2025. Said the NPA:

Allegations are that, on the 8th January 2025, the accused threw her two daughters aged 4 and 8 into the main water canal, Triangle, resulting in their drowning and death. 
The accused person tried to commit suicide by jumping into the canal but was thrown out by the water. She went home and changed her wet clothes and tried to flee. 
The driver of the commuter omnibus she took was tipped about what had transpired and drove the accused person back. A police report was made, leading to her arrest.

In an earlier statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said Chiromonyo took her daughters—aged three and seven—and jumped into the canal.
The children were swept away by the strong current, tragically drowning, while Chiromonyo was able to escape from the water unharmed.
Investigations by the Police established that the incident occurred after Chiromonyo had accused her husband of infidelity.

Woman Accused Of Drowning Her Two Daughters Remanded In Custody

Two men, aged 18 and 19, were recently brought before the Chiredzi Magistrates Court, facing charges of gang-raping a 13-year-old girl.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the two accused encountered the victim on a pathway in ARDA Boost, Triangle, as she was walking home on Christmas Day. The NPA said:

Two adult men (18 and 19) and a 16 year-old boy appeared before the Chiredzi Magistrates Court for gang-raping a 13 year-old girl.
The State alleges that the accused persons met the complainant on a pathway in ARDA Boost, Triangle while she was walking home on Christmas day.
The first accused person tripped the complainant to the ground where they took turns to rape her.
The accused persons were remanded in custody to the 13th of January 2025.

In a separate case, a 42-year-old man from Triangle appeared in court facing charges of rape for allegedly assaulting a 13-year-old girl last month. The NPA said:

A 42 year-old man from Triangle was brought before the Chiredzi Magistrates’ Court on rape charges.
It is the State’s case that the 13-year-old complainant was home alone in the afternoon of 14 December 2024, when the accused person went into the house and found her sleeping. He lifted her skirt and she woke up.
He threatened to kill her if she made any noise or fought back, before he raped her. The complainant narrated her ordeal to her mother, who made a police report.
The accused person was remanded in custody to the 13th of January 2025.

Two men in Zimbabwe are in trouble for raping a 13-year-old girl. The men were in court for the crime. They saw the girl on Christmas Day and attacked her on her way home. Two Men Gang-Rape 13-Year-Old Girl On Christmas Day

Chief Justice Luke Malaba officially opened two Magistrates Courts in Triangle and Chiredzi last Friday.
In his address at the event which took place at the Chiredzi Regional Court, Malaba said that the new courts are a resource for the entire community that will ensure easier access to justice for all residents in the district.
Malaba asserted that the completion of these facilities is expected to reduce unnecessary delays and combat the backlog of cases that have plagued the judicial system for years. He said:
<blockquote>
Courts are buildings that symbolise our vision as the people of Zimbabwe, our aspirations, our fundamental rights, and our freedom. These are the buildings from which we should all be able to realise the goodness of the law.
We must have them near so that every day we can think of them and see them. Not just because they are institutions where wrongness is resolved, courts are not just there for that.
Courts are therefore anchoring the vision of economic development because all economic disputes must go to court.

The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including Prosecutor General Loice Matanda Moyo, Senior High Court Judge Jesca Charehwa, Member of Parliament for Chiredzi West Darlington Chiwa, and several local chiefs and community leaders.
Malaba also commended the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) for adhering to best construction practices in developing modern court facilities, which also incorporate the fourth phase of the Integrated Electronic Case Management System (IECMS) in the magistrate courts.

The club will hold the trials at a time when most of the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Premier_Soccer_League" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Premier Soccer League</a> clubs are frantically beefing up their squads ahead of the 2020 season.

Triangle was Zimbabwe’s representative in the 2018/2019 CAF Confederations Cup competition and rubbed shoulders with some of the continent’s finest sides.
