Tongaat Huletts-financed Triangle FC has secured promotion to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) after defeating Rusitu Tigers FC 1-0 in the final round of the Eastern Region Soccer League (ERSL) at Gibbo Stadium on Sunday.
Under coach Luke Masomere, Triangle FC made a remarkable recovery after trailing FC Wangu Mazodze by 17 points midway through the season, eventually surpassing the Richard Mazodze-owned club with a better goal difference.
Both Triangle FC and FC Wangu Mazodze finished the season with 72 points.
ERSL board member Benjamin Chindima congratulated Triangle FC for securing promotion to the Premiership. Said Chindima (via <a href="https://www.manicapost.co.zw/new-triangle-back-in-psl/">The Manica Post</a>):

FC Wangu Mazodze, who held the top spot for most of the season, secured a 3-2 victory over Surrey but was unable to reclaim the lead in the final standings.
Triangle FC joins ZPC Hwange (Southern Region), Kwekwe United (Central Region), and Scottland FC (Central Region) in earning promotion to the PSL.

Triangle United has won a big football tournament and will now go to play in the Premier Soccer League. They beat another team, Rusitu Tigers, in the final game. Triangle was losing at first but then caught up and won. The team and their coach are very happy. Another team, FC Wangu Mazodze, also played well but didn't win. Triangle United joins three other teams in getting promoted to the Premier League. Everyone is excited and proud of them. It was a tough competition, but Triangle United came out on top.

Bulawayo Chiefs assistant coach Thulani Sibanda is set to join Triangle United in the new year, reported Nehanda Radio.
The publication reported a source as saying Triangle United will unveil Sibanda once his contract with Bulawayo Chiefs expires on 31 December 2022. Said the source:

Thulani (Sibanda) won’t be part of the Bulawayo Chiefs technical team next season. He has joined Triangle United. The two parties agreed on a deal recently.
The announcement will be made public soon after his contract with Bulawayo Chiefs comes to an end on 31 December.

Contacted for comment by Nehanda Radio, Sibanda could neither confirm nor deny the reports but said “I have no comment. Please contact Triangle United.”
Sibanda recently spent two weeks in Tanzania attending the CAF A Licence coaching course which he will finish in September next year.
