Trymore Tore (37) of Mubairacheni Village, Chief Chundu, Hurungwe, has been arraigned on three counts of murder by the Chinhoyi Magistrates’ Court.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), between February 15 and 17, 2025, Tore allegedly killed his wife, Moline Chibayanzara, with an axe after a domestic dispute and disposed of her body in a pit latrine.
He is also accused of killing the village head, Kuwesi Masau, with an axe when Masau tried to intervene, and burying him in a shallow grave only 40cm deep.
Tore allegedly stabbed Anety Nabwalo with a kitchen knife and later dumped her body 60m from his homestead, covering it with tree branches. A blood-stained axe and knife were recovered.
Tore attempted suicide by stabbing himself six times before his arrest. He has no family ties and has been threatening villagers, leading to public outrage and concerns for his safety.
Currently, Tore is hospitalised under police guard and has been remanded to March 10, 2025.

Hurungwe Triple Murder Suspect Remanded From Hospital

Police have confirmed the arrest of Trymore Tore (37) in connection with three cases of murder which occurred at Mubairacheni Village, Hurungwe on February 16 this year.
Tore, who had earlier been mistakenly reported as having been arrested following the gruesome killing of his wife, niece, and the village head, was finally apprehended on Sunday, February 24.
Police said Tore had been hiding in the dense bushes near his homestead, evading capture for over a week.
In a statement issued this Monday, February 24, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) revealed the dramatic details of Tore’s arrest.
As the officers closed in on his hiding spot, Tore reportedly pulled out an Okapi knife from his pocket and viciously stabbed himself multiple times in the chest and neck, in a desperate attempt to avoid being taken into custody.
Despite his self-inflicted wounds, the police were able to overpower and restrain Tore, placing him under arrest.
He was then taken to Karoi District Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment under heavy guard.
Police have not disclosed the motive behind the brutal killings, but locals said that Tore and the first victim, his wife were having domestic disputes, which may have led to the murders.
It is not clear why Tore killed his niece. She had come to visit and watch a movie and was tragically unaware of the fate that awaited her.
The village head, Kuwesu Musawu (53), was murdered after attempting to mediate a dispute between Tore and his wife.
Tore’s wife, Moline Chibayanzara (21), was found dead in a pit latrine, suffering multiple head injuries, with her body wrapped in a blue blanket.
The second victim, a 17-year-old niece, was discovered approximately 60 meters from Tore’s homestead, bearing a swollen head and a cut on her forehead. Her body was concealed under tree branches, and a knife was recovered nearby.
Musawu’s body was unearthed in a shallow grave behind Tore’s house, with a decapitated head and a deep cut on the neck.
The police issued a statement on Monday confirming the details of Tore’s arrest, which reads as follows:

Hurungwe Triple Murderer Hospitalised In Handcuffs, Under Police Guard

A Hurungwe villager, who allegedly murdered his wife, niece, and the village head, has been arrested after being on the run for about a week. The three victims were found dead on February 17, 2025, in Mubairecheni Village, Chundu, Hurungwe.
As reported by <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200038740/hurungwe-triple-murder-suspect-arrested">NewsDay</a>, Trymore Tore (37) was apprehended on Sunday in the rural area under Chief Chundu, approximately 70km north of Karoi town, while he was seeking food.
An alert villager offered him food, pretending to accommodate him, but then alerted neighbours to his presence.
The villagers swamped Tore, and upon realising he was cornered, he attempted to slit his own throat. 
However, he was overpowered, arrested, and later briefly admitted to Chitindiva Clinic under police guard late Sunday night.
Tore will assist the police with investigations before being arraigned in court.
According to Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the murders occurred on February 15 and 16, with the bodies discovered on February 17. He said:

Preliminary investigations by the Police suggest that the suspect and his wife were having consistent domestic disputes, which may have led to the murders.
The suspect and his wife were allegedly heard by villagers quarrelling at their homestead on 15th February 2025.
The third suspect was last seen going to the suspect’s homestead to mediate on a dispute between the couple, while the second suspect was also last seen going to the suspect’s homestead to watch movies on 16th February 2025.

Fugitive Hurungwe Triple Murderer Arrested

A woman from Cowdry Park, Bulawayo, who is accused of killing her husband and two children, has been remanded in custody until February 14 as investigations continue, reported <a href="https://www.zbcnews.co.zw/cowdry-park-triple-murder-suspect-remanded-in-custody/">ZBC News</a>.
The court heard that on January 29, the now-deceased Edwin Chimbangu reportedly arrived home around 8 PM and asked his wife, Happiness Chimbangu, why supper was not prepared.
In response, she allegedly threatened to kill herself with a table knife. Edwin then called two church elders and Happiness’s mother for help.
Later that night, around 1 AM, Happiness allegedly armed herself with a metal digger borrowed from a neighbour the previous day and attacked her husband, striking him three times in the throat and twice in the jaw.
She then allegedly struck her four-year-old child three times in the neck and hit her seven-month-old infant four times on the head.
After the incident, Happiness reportedly went to a church colleague and confessed what she had done.
