A ZAOGA Forward in Faith (FIF) overseer has been dismissed after facing serious allegations, including siring two children with female congregants and preying on widows.
Overseer Joel Chinhema, who was based in Bindura, was relieved of his duties last week due to accusations of adultery and embezzlement of church funds.
His termination was carried out by the church’s board of Bishops, a disciplinary committee composed of 10 senior bishops stationed at the church’s headquarters in Waterfalls, Harare.
H-Metro reported a source as saying Chinhema faced charges of fraud and embezzlement. It is alleged that he confessed to his extramarital affairs during a meeting with the board, which ultimately led to his dismissal. Said the source:

It’s actually disheartening that a man who many looked up to as a father failed to lead an exemplary life.
Baba Chinhema has been dismissed from the church after he confessed to impregnating two women from the church.
He is married and, as a leader he, failed to uphold his duties under the confines of the church’s motto ‘Fear Not, Sin Not’ and to resist the temptations from women and the church’s money.
Despite his status in the church, Chinhema has been failing to meet his other children’s needs and the women came forward to expose him.
The church also received a report from a single lady who claimed she was being sexually harassed after Chinhema sent her his nude pictures in an attempt to lure her into bed.
He has been asked to vacate the church’s property in Bindura and leave the vehicle he was using, a GD6, behind.

It is alleged that Chinhema targeted widows, divorced women, and young girls who sought his advice and prayers.
Furthermore, it is claimed that he received protection from certain church leaders, who reportedly covered up his actions from the time he was a junior pastor until his promotion to overseer.
When contacted for comment by H-Metro, the church’s secretary-general, Apostle Mishael Nyambo, referred inquiries to his deputy, Apostle Steve Simukai, whose phone went unanswered.
Chinhema himself was also unavailable to comment on the matter.

ZAOGA Overseer Fired For Preying On Widows And Impregnating Congregants

Joseph Guti has assumed leadership of the ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries after being ordained as the Presiding Bishop on Sunday.
He is the grandson of the late church founder, Archbishop Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti.
As reported by <a href="https://www.zbcnews.co.zw/zaoga-ordains-new-leader/">ZBC News</a>, the ordination took place at the Africa Multination for Christ College (AMFCC) in Glen View, Harare, during a ceremony attended by hundreds of congregants and religious leaders from around the world.
During the event, ZAOGA FIF Secretary General Mishael Nyambo said Guti had been accepted by the executive as the ordained Presiding Bishop and entrusted with the mandate to lead the church. Said Nyambo:

So according to the Constitution of the ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries and the guidance rules and policy, it empowers the executive to make such decisions.
And there is nothing that we do without another appointment and the endorsement of their executive.
So we are so glad that Dr Joseph Guti was accepted by the executive to be the presiding bishop ordained and given the mandate to lead the church.
And we believe that you continue to unite us because our father before he left home, left us united and we are continuing in that same spirit. The church is at peace.

The appointment of Joseph Guti comes 14 months after the passing of Archbishop Ezekiel Guti, who was declared a national hero.
Joseph Guti said ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries has been expanding globally, recently inaugurating a new church in South Korea. He said:

It is a task that I don’t take lightly. But the good news is that we are continuing in the solid footsteps and solid foundation laid by our father, the founding father and president.
The visionary of the Ministry laid the strong foundation for ZAOGA Faith in Ministries for 63 years before his departure after he was promoted to glory.
So as a church, we have been moving forward in faith, as our name says, in unity, in love, in prayer, in the fear of God. So we are so thankful for the atmosphere of unity that is prevailing in the church.
And we have good news that even this year, we have opened a new church in South Korea.
So we are talking about the growth and expansion of the church. And I’m not working alone.

Joseph is married to Nyasha M. Guti, who is a powerful teacher of the word of God. She holds a BSC. Degree in Computer Science (U.Z.) and Master of Science in Strategic Management (CUT).
Nyasha also holds a Diploma in Microfinance Management, a Diploma in Biblical Studies and Christian Leadership from AMFCC as well as a Bachelor of Biblical Studies and Christian Leadership Degree.

Joseph Guti Ordained As Presiding Bishop Of ZAOGA

The family of Archbishop Ezekiel Guti, founder of Zimbabwe Assemblies of God (ZAOGA) Forward in Faith International Ministries (FIFIM), is working on the repatriation of the late church leader’s body from South Africa.
According to Secretary-General Apostle Mishael Nyambo, the church is complying with the laws of South Africa to ensure the body’s safe return to Zimbabwe, where the burial will take place. The exact location of the burial will be communicated later. He said:

We are doing all that is needed to the laws of the land in South Africa ready for the body to be repatriated to Zimbabwe. We do not know yet but we will inform you in due course. The burial will be In Zimbabwe but the exact location will be communicated as we go. The family and the church are currently in consultation and when they are clear we will be able to speak to the nation but what we have done at the moment is that ZAOGA faith in mission met on the 6th of July and they have declared one month of mourning.
We call it the month of celebrations because we are celebrating the death of such a great leader who has done so much not in Zimbabwe only but the world over. I want to inform you that ZAOGA is a big family, we cannot have a home where people gather so the executive has directed that across the country in all our respective churches people will be gathering for prayers and testimonies of how Baba Guti’s gospel has impacted them.
We also want to make the nation aware that ZAOGA is not embarking on a go-funding project to fund this programme. We have enough resources in the church. Some people are starting to misrepresent us, it’s not acceptable.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said the State and the church are inseparable and the relationship dates back to the days of the struggle for independence from colonial rule.
Mnangagwa made the remarks at the centenary celebrations of ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries founder, Archbishop Ezekiel Guti held at Glamis Arena in Harare on Sunday. He said:

The partnership and synergy between the State and Church is inseparable and dates back to the days of our protracted armed liberation struggle.
At cottage 953 in Harare Highfields, ZAOGA was nurtured to ultimately occupy the space that was predominantly a preserve of missionaries from beyond our borders.

Mnangagwa assured the church that under his Government, freedom of worship is guaranteed. He said:
<blockquote>
I want to assure the Church fraternity that under the Second Republic, freedom of worship is constitutionally guaranteed.
My Government will further facilitate an enabling environment for the Church to carry out the great commission and to win souls, heal the sick and proclaim the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ. 
Equally orphans, widows, the disabled and the elderly must be taken care of.
Together, as the State and Church, let us also nurture a citizenry, especially the youth, who are patriotic, disciplined, morally upright and loyal to our country Zimbabwe.
It is commendable, that to date, the Church fraternity has remained a beacon of Ubuntu/Hunhu as well as accelerating social development.
Specifically, your ZAOGA churches, educational institutions and Bible schools are churning out graduates who are ably serving in our national institutions, across Government and in the private sector.

ZAOGA-FIF runs the Mbuya Dorcas Hospital, Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University, Ezekiel Television, and has Dress Making Training Centres as well as primary and secondary schools. Said Mnangagwa:

These and other life-transforming projects you have undertaken as a Church are praiseworthy.
Accordingly, in 2021 my Government saw it befitting to honour and confer with Archbishop Baba Guti, with the Order of the Star of Zimbabwe.

Archbishop Guti’s wife, Euna, expressed gratitude to Mnangagwa for attending the celebrations.
