A tragic head-on collision occurred between a motorcycle and a Zebra Kiss bus at the one-kilometre peg along Mapombo-Gozi Road in Murewa on Friday. Both the rider of the motorcycle and the passenger were killed in the accident.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed that the motorcycle rider and passenger fell to the ground and were run over by the bus. The ZRP said:

The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on 24/01/25 at the one-kilometre peg along Mapombo-Gozi Road, Murewa.
Two people were killed when a Zebra Kiss bus with 27 passengers was involved in a head-on collision with a motorcycle carrying one passenger.
As a result of the collision, the rider of the motorcycle and passenger fell down to the ground and were run over by the bus.
The bodies of the victims were taken to All Souls Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

Last month, the ZRP warned all motorcyclists and their passengers to refrain from riding without helmets, saying this practice is against the law.
Police warned that riders and their passengers found violating this regulation will be arrested.

Motorcycle Rider And Passenger Fatally Run Over By Zebra Kiss Bus In Murewa

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has said fourteen (14) people were killed in an accident involving a Zebra Kiss bus that occurred along Mutare-Masvingo road on Tuesday night.
In a statement posted on the ZRP Twitter page, Police said one Cephas Muringani aged 46 passed away at Howard Mission Hospital where he was admitted, bringing to 14 the number of people who were killed in the accident. Reads the police:

Reference is made to the ZRP press statement dated 18/04/23 on the fatal road traffic accident which occurred on 16/04/2023 at the 5 Kilometre peg along Chivhu-Buhera Road.
The death toll has risen to 14 following the death of Cephas Muringani (46) who was admitted at Howard Mission Hospital.

Police said the accident occurred at about 11 PM when a Zebra Kiss bus travelling towards Mutare veered off the road and landed on its left side.
Eyewitnesses reported that the Zebra Kiss bus driver lost control while negotiating a curve at Mutare Teachers College, possibly to avoid a collision with a truck.
This accident comes barely weeks after a Zebra Kiss bus driver was sentenced to two years in prison for reckless driving after a bus he was driving was involved in an accident that killed one person and injured several others earlier this year.
There are several factors that can contribute to bus accidents in Zimbabwe which include poor road conditions, overloading, driver fatigue, speeding, inadequate maintenance, reckless driving, and a lack of driver training.

Zebra Kiss Bus Accident Death Toll Rises To 14

Twenty passengers were injured when a <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/?s=zebra+kiss">Zebra Kiss bus</a> travelling to <a href="https://wiki.pindula.co.zw/Mutare">Mutare</a> veered off the road on Tuesday night.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the injured passengers were admitted to Victoria Chitepo Hospital. In a report seen by Pindula News, ZRP said more details will be released in due course. Reads the report:

The driver was filmed obstructing a Rimbi Travel and Tours bus that was trying to overtake. When the Zebra Kiss bus overtook a slow-moving vehicle, the Rimbi Tours driver could not react quickly enough to avoid hitting the vehicle, resulting in an accident that killed one person and injured several others.
