The Zimbabwean embassy in South Africa says it has made transport available for any citizens who wish to go vote during the 23 August 2023 elections.
Zimbabwe consul-general in Johannesburg Eria Phiri told South African media that the embassy will assist those wishing to exercise their democratic right of voting. He said:

Zimbabwe is free to accept anyone who is Zimbabwean to come and participate in the elections.
So, any Zimbabwean national who would like to participate in the elections was supposed to have registered in line with the Constitution.
</blockquote>
Phiri said the embassy will provide Zimbabwean citizens with transport back to South Africa, provided they have proper documents.
Earlier this month, prominent South African opposition leader, Julius Malema, urged Zimbabweans in that country to return home and vote in the general elections.
Malema, who leads South Africa’s second-largest opposition party, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), said that his party is ready to hire buses to transport Zimbabweans so they can vote for the government of their choice.

Zim Embassy In South Africa Offers Citizens Transport To Travel Back Home For Elections

The Zimbabwean Embassy In South Africa will, beginning this coming Monday start the process of gradually opening their offices to offer services like processing of passport and birth certificate applications for Zimbabweans, New Zimbabwe reports.
This was published by the council in a statement that was released by the consulate general which had closed shop since the South African government imposed a lockdown in their country on 17 March. The statement reads:
<blockquote>In order to protect both staff and clients from the pandemic and in conformity with the Host Country`s Disaster Management Act Covid 19 Lockdown Alert Level 2 regulations, all clients will be served strictly by appointment between 09:00 and 12:30 hrs. The appointment system is designed to ensure that clients do not exceed the allowable congregation thresholds at Consulate, as set by the host government under social distancing protocols.
A maximum of 75 clients will be assisted per day at this point. The selection criteria would be based on first come, first served basis. The confirmation of the appointment should be presented at the security checkpoint in order to be granted passage into the premises.
Time slots are neither interchangeable nor transferable. Clients are therefore, advised to strictly adhere to allocated time slots. Clients who show up at Consulate without confirmation of appointment will not be allowed in the premises. Zim Embassy In South Africa To Reopen On Monday

Parliamentarians have called on government to reduce the number of its embassies to avoid embarrassing situations where embassy staff are served with eviction notices over unpaid rentals.
The call was made by Kindness Paradza, chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Foreign Affairs. Said Paradza:
<blockquote>Remove or downgrade ambassadors where they are not necessary. While high-ranking diplomats, such as ambassadors are vital for Zimbabwe to promote its foreign policy, in many cases, having such high-ranking officials in every diplomatic mission may not be necessary.</blockquote>
Zimbabwe is sitting on a rental arears of $7 million accrued over years and some diplomats have been served with eviction notices. He said that the Foreign Affairs ministry should direct its limited resources specifically, to countries that are of economic value or benefit to Zimbabwe.
