Dave Emberton was a Zimbabwean former news anchor who worked for the national broadcaster, ZBC. Emberton is regarded among the best news anchors of all time. In August 2016 reports circulated that he had been arrested for stealing bacon at a local supermarket.

In July 2016, Emberton married Melody Komara.
Career
He first got involved in broadcasting in February 1966 at the Montrose Studios in Bulawayo at the age of 19. His first job was the floor manager at the Montrose Studio hence he gained vast experience being in front and behind the camera. Emberton was one of the longest serving broadcasters in the country and he stopped the business of anchoring news on ZBC TV in June 2015 after 48 years.[1]
He also served as the general manager at MultiChoice Zimbabwe which runs Dstv.[2]
In 2014 Emberton was also part of a star studded cast in a Zimbabwean psychological thriller movie titled Enigma, The Secret of the Circle. The movie also featured National Arts Merit Awards winner Dax L Jackson, veteran actor Stephen Chigorimbo and Zimbabwean songstress Kudzai Sevenzo. [3]
Controversies
Stealing Bacon Rumours
On August 16, reports circulated that Emberton had been caught stealing bacon at Letombo Spar in Harare. There were suggestions that he was suffering from mental illness though police had not issued a statement concerning the arrest.[4]
Death
Fellow journalist and family friend, Angus Shaw said Emberton died of heart failure at his son’s home in Durban, South Africa on Friday 30 June 2017. He survived by his son, Dave Junior and two grandchildren.[5]
