Dumisani "Commando" Mpofu is one of the best defenders to have played for the national team popularly known as The Warriors as well as CAPS United Football Club.

Mpofu was born on December 20, 1973 and grew up in Gen-Norah.
Mpofu is one of the most prolific defenders to have played for Makepkepe and well known for his hard tackling skills which earned him the name "Commando". He broke into the limelight playing for Makepekepe before moving to South Africa where he played for Supersport United and Umtata Bush Bucks. Commando also had a successful career with national senior side and was among the players that played in the country's maiden appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations. In 1988, Mpofu started playing for Clan Transport which at the time was being coached by Nelson Matongorere. The following year he went on to join Aluminium Tigers where he was offered a job enabling him to fund his studies up to form four in 1991.
Between 1993 and 1994, he played for a premier league side called Rufaro Rovers Football Club. Due to his links with veteran football scout Wieslaw Grabowski, he got a chance to go to Belgium and Poland to try his luck and after several clubs expressed interest in signing him, he declined the offers due to "missing" being home. When he got back, he was signed by Blackpool Football club for a short stint before being signed by CAPS United Football Club. He played for the green machine up until the year 2000 before leaving for South Africa to play for Bush Bucks. Commando was also part of the under 23 national side that played in the All Africa Games Final in 1995 which they lost to the Egyptian Pharoahs.
He was part of the Zimbabwean team that qualified and played in the 2004 AFCON finals held in Tunisia. Has deputised captain Peter Ndlovu and the coach was Sunday Chidzambwa.
After Dumi retired from football, he established Shalom Car Sales which not only sales vehicles but also hires out vehicles for weddings and personal use.
