Judgement Yard is a Harare-based dancehall/reggae sound (or Movement) made up of music DJs. It features on various live performances as well as on local radio stations such as Star FM and ZiFM Stereo.

Formation and Composition of the Group

Judgement Yard was formed in 2009 and consists of disc jockeys I-Randu, DJ 2Bad, DJ Fidelis, Asha B, DJ Flevah (real name Tendai Tembo), and Etherton Bennie (real name (Etherton Mutemasango). [1]

Music

The group has released a series of mixtapes which feature various local Zimdancehall artists and international musicians especially from the reggae and dancehall genres.

In 2014, the group indictaed that they were preparing to launch a Dj school which would teach youngsters to spin the discs and making lyrical chants. The initiative was meant to target children from the age of 16 and usher them into the professional disc jockeying industry at tender ages.[2]

Successes

Judgement Yard made its debut appearence at the Zimbabwe Cup Clash, an annual musical show held in the United Kingdom. The group rubbed shoulders with some notable Zimbabwean Djs such as Dj Fydale and Dj Envy. Earlier in 2013, Judgement Yard had performed in South Africa where the show proved to be quite a success. Since then, their recognition both locally and internationally has been improving.[3] Locally, Judgement proved to be a formidable force through its weekly edition of Mad Sunday on ZiFM Stereo.
