Luke Steyn is a Zimbabwean born athlete who made history by becoming the first Zimbabwean to participate in the winter Olympic Games.
Background
Steyn was born in Harare on June 7, 1993.[1] He moved with his family to Switzerland when he was aged three.
Education
Steyn was said to have been a student at the University of Colorado where he was studying Business Management.[2]
Career
Having started his career after moving to Switzerland, Steyn's claim to fame was in 2014 when he became the first ever Zimbabwean national to take part in the Winter Olympic Games which were held in Russia.[3] He partook in the men's giant slalom in Sochi, Russia where he managed to finish 57 out of the 72 skiers who managed to complete their runs from a sum total of 109 skiers. In the event, Steyn was one of the only two Africans who participated in the event.[3]
